Just to be clear, I am not a "WoW basher". I am a 6-year WoW customer who is more than a little discouraged at the shift in direction taken by the development team. I could care less what goes on inside a raid instance and, frankly, Blizzard shouldn't either. During the Hallows End event, I had my first taste of the hot new "Dungeon Finder". The holiday event could not be done except for a full complement of 1 Tank, 1 Healer, 3 DPS. What is this except game developers telling you how you are going to play the game you pay for?
Anyone besides me remember the original design philosophy of WoW, "bring the player, not the class"? Development is all focused on "Roles" right now, not RPG-type roles, but the role every class plays in a group. If you don't group, don't want to be in a guild, Blizzard is more than happy to take your money while flying a big FU in your face. None of the recent changes are isolated to the instances they're designed for. They affect every other aspect of the game and as a customer, not a fan, I have the right to voice disapproval.
Sir, I believe most WoW bashers are former/current players ;-)
The holy trinity (Tank, Healer, DPSx3) is one element that has been part of World of Warcraft since the beginning, Ghostcrawler or not. In fact before Ghostcrawler, most classes were stuck in a single role with subpar trees to fullfill anything else.
Don't get me wrong, there are enough design drivers I disagree with not to be looking forward for Cataclysm. I despise the concept of 'heroic badges' allowing you to skip through 3 tiers of content within a week of pure instance grind. I don't like the easy mode/hard mode concept removing the feeling of exploration from raid instances. I don't like how World of Warcraft is turning into an arcade game with instant teleporting to dungeons, or how dungeons are now all designed not to last more than 30 minutes. But "Bring the player, not the class" is something Ghostcrawler enforced successfully, coming from someone who raided many years through many expansion packs.
I'm always amazed to see what kind of argument one can throw in just for the sake of WoW bashing.
I don't think this has anything to do with 'making it more difficult'. I think this has much more to do with finding means to prevent raid groups from stacking warlocks, shamans or druids. It's close to the 'buff/debuff slots' changes they implemented in WotLK.
Old philosophy = Let's have 4-6 warlocks, 4 druids and 5 shamans our raid because we want to maximize combat resurrection.
New philosophy = Stacking classes is pointless. Stack your raid with friends instead.
So newsflash stacking classes is pointless ?
Honestly get real , people try to justify anything lately , in a way blizzard wants .
Wait let me see buffs debuffs setup
Paladin A must , cleanse disease and blessing of might
Druid must kings and combat rezz
Shaman / Beastmaster hunter / demonology warlock a MUST cause of heroisme .
Priest a must cause second disease removal .
Oh wait in raid i already have 4 must positions , and only 6 slots free .
Holy crap what many MUST have must i do , and wait stacking classes is pointless , so i have to tell people DONT play the class you want to play , infact play what i must have ?
And people dont see the moral of this ? sorry only 5% really min max setups , and exploit the stuff .
Lets make the other 95% suffer why cause they dont see the min maxing anyway .
Well I don't know much about the rezzing stuff. But as to the changes to the talents ... I LOVE it .... and as to relearning how to play all my different class chars (I Have 17 of various classes) .... I LOVE it it is like getting a new game.
Many here comp[lain of boredome and same old same old ... then say how dumb the class changes are .. then complain about having to learn the class all over.
WoW is by far the best MMO to ever come down the pike. It is as challenging as you want it to be and is fun! ... It took them (with hundreds of developers) 2 years each to make the expansions. Then here you complain about same old content. My God what do you expect? there is no other game that comes even close to having the content variety of WOW.
I think people just think they look smart and superior if they can complain about something. Nothing is perfect .... including all of us.

Do you even play this game? This is almost as bad as the guy earlier talking about the "lich lord". Druids don't have Blessing of King's, paladins do. Hunters and warlocks don't have heroism. Shamans do. And as far as raid slots go, I think people are talking about the 25 man raids, not 10 man.
As for the rest of what your wrote.....
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

Well ok drake_hound, let's 'get real'.
Bloodlust (sorry I cannot get myself to call it heroism) is not a must. You can complete a dungeon or a raid without it.
Combat resurrection is not a must. You can complete a dungeon or a raid without it.
Unfortunately I don't know about the new dispel mechanism. I've heard every healer gets one, and DPS classes no longer do? But I don't make stuff up so I cannot argue about it.
Bloodlust and Combat resurrections are 2 'nice to have', but frankly you can deal very well without it. Especially for you, 95% of the non mix max players.
Now about stacking classes... It seems you are new to World of Warcraft, or started playing during WotLK. But I can assure you, min-maxing guilds were not the only one stacking warlocks and shamans during Burning Crusade. A properly stacked group had warlocks bringing about 20% more DPS than any other classes. Plus, we were all stacking shamans to make sure our warlock group had 4 or 5 bloodlusts during a boss fight.
There are a lot of things to complain about when we're discussing World of Warcraft. Mechanics to enforce "Bring the player, not the class" are just not one of them.
It is simply a poor attempt to slow down how fast people eat up the new content. They have made the content so easy now that they have to do stupid stuff like this to slow down progression. My guild cleared every single boss within 2 weeks of hitting lvl 80 in WOTLK. Every single one. It was PATHETIC to the point that I quit playing WOW forever and have not looked back.

I'm sorry but have to ask you. Ok so you cleared Naxx, OS and Maly in 2 weeks. Ok fair enough but did you do OS 3d? Did you then get glory of the raider for the protos? Wrath has been one huge raid testing expansion. So straight after that in Ulduar did you get Yogg with 0 keepers? After that did you get tribute to insanity and after that did you get LK25 man Heroic with no buff? I always here people saying it is too easy about content which they havent cleared.
They should have just updated Bosses move lists with aoe insta kill spells if people rez more than 3 times or w/e. That would make things alot more intresting.
This.
The idea of limiting ressurects on raids is a poor way to increase difficulty. The time limits for casting the spells themselves are sufficient enough. I also liked Jezvin's idea.
I'm only acting out because I didn't get to kill anything.
Just to be clear, I am not a "WoW basher". I am a 6-year WoW customer who is more than a little discouraged at the shift in direction taken by the development team. You could always have formed your own group of 5 players of any class you wanted and qued up for the event. You could have even went to the dungeon with other players and did it the old fashion way.
Anyhow, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that wow has more solo oriented content than all the group dungeons/raids combined. Not to mention that cataclysm is coming with an new set of solo content for almost the entire game.
Plenty of the recent content changes benefit solo and no group changes. Warriors get a self heal and attack power buff when fighting. Both are huge benefits when soloing. Perhaps everything isn't so black and white with the changes and they cover multiple areas at the same time?
I'm always amazed to see what kind of argument one can throw in just for the sake of WoW bashing.

This says it all very well.
Battle rez is perhaps the last raid altering ability linked to 1 class and soul stone was often wasted resources. The proposed change to soul stone look awesome and limiting combat rez (regardless of the source) to 1 per fight makes it a tactical choice. I'm all for it.
Here is the buff map as of 4.0.1. As you can see, there is a lot of ability to interchange various classes. So it is not so much about stacking classes anymore. From my own experience, I've raided with many non-conventional combination and had reasonable success. Certainly that is all anecdotal so your mileage may vary.
Str, Agi, Sta, Int
Druid Mark of the wild Hunter (Shale Spider) Embrace of the Shale Spider Paladin Blessing of Kings
Druid (Balance) Moonkin Aura Priest (Shadow) Mind Quickening Shaman Wrath of Air Totem
10% Melee/Ranged Attack Speed
Hunter (Survival) Hunting Party Death Knight (Frost) Improved Icy Talons Shaman Windfury Totem
5% Critical Strike
Druid (Feral) Leader of the Pack Hunter (Devilsaur / Wolf) Terrifying Roar / Furious Howl Rogue (Subtlety) Honor Among Thieves Shaman (Elemental) Elemental Oath Warrior (Fury) Rampage
Now, as far as the combat rez change, I can't really see it as a bad thing. If anything else, I think it will promote team work by limiting the mechanics that let you advance despite poor performance. Don't get me wrong, I've certainly benefited from the multiple battle rez mechanic in the past and I understand the utility (more so after a long night of wiping), but still, I can't really disagree with this adjustment.
As for the buff map, I didn't make it, but I can't find the original link to attribute. I will try to edit it in later.

Wow boss fights are just dumb. Most fights can be done only one way which is boring and stupid. I don't think any boss fight should be easy, but they also should not be so one dimensional either.
I was laughing at a friend this weekend, she wiped 17 times on the lich lord before they gave up. How can that is any fun in any sense of the word?
People like you are the reason this game sucks now.
You want easy mode content that you can clear in one or two tries, god help you if you had ever seen the original 4hm in Vanilla wow or Kael'Thas in TK before he was nerfed.
But you know what they were FUN because they were a challenge, not some easy mode faceroll.
You laughed at your friend, encouraging them and being supportive is what a friend would do, from your post i summerise you are a piss poor gamer and a piss poor friend

The comlplaint being that WoW boss fights are very linear. They are extremely scripted. This is a very pertinent question. It is one of the reasons that a lot of people do not like raiding or even mock it.
Imagine if it were actually multidimensional. You could not go in with addons telling you what is coming next, you could not read a walkthrough telling you what happens... etc, etc, etc.
For some, that would be fun.

I really didnt do much of contributing before WOTLK. I guess you can say i was a casual player.
Now, i can heal the 'easier' raids and contribute greatly in the bg's. I dont know how much of the player base i represent but i like the changes.
Blizz, keep up with evolving wow to help players like me and youll continue to get my sub.
