Star Wars: The Old Republic: Not Until At Least April 2011

At this year's Credit Suisse 2010 Technology Conference, EA's CFO Eric Brown indicated that Star Wars: The Old Republic will not be released until the company's fiscal 2012 begins in April of 2011. EA had acknowledged earlier this year that the game would perhaps ship in 'spring 2011' which is consistent with the target date indicated by Brown, though a bit later than some would have hoped.
In a May presentation, Brown said the game was "not expected" in fiscal 2010, but today's statement was much more definitive about the release timing, placing it sometime in the nine-month window encompassed by the 2012 fiscal year and the 2011 calendar year.

I'm getting so tired of waiting for decent MMO's to release that it's quite likely that i won't be playing by then. Don't get me wrong, if it needs to wait until then to be finished then i don't have anything bad to say about it but i've literally been waiting for over 3 years for something decent that i can sink my teeth into for more than a month or two.
Sad panda.
So sometimes after 04/01/2011 and 04/01/2012 they way I am reading it hmm oh well. They sure been hyping it up a lot, I just hope it lives up to the hype.

Nothing new here, I am glad Bioware releases information and not hype, facts about the game is not hype, all the hype I see is coming from the players seting expections and hopes way to high, thats not Bioware's fault, but oh well I was always leaning toward a June or later release, if it comes out sooner bonus, if later oh well, nothing I can do about it but wait.. /sigh

I've been waiting about 3 years myself. Another 5 or so months isn't gonna hurt me. Gotta wait that long for the second half of the harry potter movie to come out.

I'll be surprised if they hit April tbh. They have touted their release as Spring for ages, April wouldm put them slap bang in the middle, I'd go for delayed until June/July at least.

They will be lucky to make the holiday season for next year. Personally I think it will be released in 2012.
Thats only 4 months, not long to wait at all. I wonder when Rift is going to release now, because I thought SWTOR was going to be alot longer away then that. Rift going up against SWTOR is not good news for them IMO.
I wouldn't even be suprised if we don't see it until 2012. This game is pretty massive in size and content. Lots of work still to be done I'm afraid.
Truth is i think its finished , sadly they didn´t announce a lot of stuff yet , but think most of the puzzle pieces are in place.
Just waiting for there endgame content confirmations .

Actually, it sounds to me like they're right on schedule. Certainly it could still be delayed, but as of right now theyre on schedule for the target they had set months ago.

Good by me. Gives me a chance to use my tax return to build a better machine than I have now, so it doesnt look like I am playing the Coloring Book edition. ;-)
They will release when they release. I am just hoping they don't get too much pressure from the top to release too soon. Given their past history, I dont expect that from Bioware...but then corporate asshats are always forcing the unexpected.
Of course if they release it right next to May allows for a great future marketing of its 1 year aniversery with the anerversery of the original star wars release.

Now a good example of a game that was REALLy hyped was WAR,most of the podcast/videos were like "LOOK AT THIS!" "OHh check this out this is going to be SO COOL!!" "your going to LOVE this!!" . SW:TOR/Bioware release info every friday about the game. Bioware advertises (not hype imo) it to keep people intrested.
I'll probably be wrong, but I'll stick with no sooner than 3rd or 4th quarter of 2011.

Unlike single-player games, MMOGs do not tie their release to the Xmas holiday as much. In fact, I think you find that there's fairly little bias at all to a holiday release.

Meaningless. Retailers always pull release dates out of their hats. It will not come out in march, april maybe if we're very lucky, but not march.
This is not new news. Bioware/EA has said for months that this game will not be released before 3/29/2011 or maybe it was 3/31/2011... Either way an April or post April release date has always been expected.
Way to go MMORPG.com for trying to give news that's already old as if it's some new development in an attempt to make the game look bad.
