I would agree, but interestingly, EQ was probably the only MMORPG I played where despite coming into the game five years after release, I did not feel as if I was significantly behind the leveling curve.  There was such a healthy spread of people playing at all levels, that I was able to take my time and enjoy the content.  I'm not sure why, but in almost every MMORPG since WoW, any content outside of the endgame stuff is absolutely dead within a year or so of release.

    1. Personaly, I don't want everyone to have trouble downloading the game same day at the last minute.

    2. Long queues would prove that they were unsure about their NEW server engine and did not allow too many people in.

    3. Sync problems between their different servers causing latency issues (1 server for mobs, 1 server for items, 1 server for npcs, etc...)

    4. Extremely low FPS due to crowded areas, that would turn off a lot of people, like in Aion (try to raid a Fortress)

    5. Boring game start.

None of this would really bother me.  Why is that?  It's a f***ing beta!

    That's what they all said...

    This is not a game.

These are all things i hope to NOT find on launch.  As such, i very much hope to find them on beta, in time to get fixed, that's the whole point of beta.

If you don't mind, I've rarely seen big changes between beta and launch for a game this ready for release.

Remember that they only have about 3 to 4 months left to box these and ship thousands around the globe...

This kind of beta is more of a hype beta or a free trial more than anything else. Otherwise they wouldn't give away VIP keys...

I, for one, would like to not even hear MENTION of motha&^^$%#^%($#  WoW.  OF COURSE, some moron will undoubtedly destroy that hope for me within minutes.

But if I'm left to FANTASIZE..... I would NOT like to hear anything at all about WoW.

I would not like to hear that there was terrible lag the whole time.

I would not like to hear that the crafting was shallow and reminds ANYONE of Warhammer.

I would not like to hear that the combat felt awkward or that the character animations were wooden.

Ideally......I would not like to hear that there's no player housing.

That about covers it for me for the most part.

I've seen pretty major changes to synchronization and lag issues between beta and launch.

    Yeah..Rift is looking good already.

    1. Massive game crashes

    2. Text Bugs, unfinished character design

    3. Disappearing an resetting mobs,

    4. Unbalance characters - not being able to play your own character with others because it is too unfair advantage.

    5. Small cluttered maps an everyone slamming into one area in beginning - game should have big zones :P.

    6. Decent Performance, fps

    7. Variety of skills for each class

    8. A start of working tradeskills

    9. Game able to play in 3D stereoscopic

    10. all features in graphic options working, wouldn't want to see the basics looking at the game have areas that are visual impairing to your eyes.

With these 10 being said I can list on an on, but a beta will be broken as NPC's not working etc. expect crap but these all working for a start are more of a step up from just a beta. alpha would be if they didn't have direction in the game.

This statement made me sick.....literally.  If you think leveling to 80 in WoW was difficult, please quit MMO's forever because your the customer base that has ruined my favorite genre of games, thanks.

For me animations of the characters are a big issue, the game reminds me of Warhammer Online. The art style and the "Rifts" which are basically like the PQ's, is there many of the guys from Mythic working on this game? Warhammer in beta had awful animations most just looked liked auto attack it took them atleast 4-5 months after release to sort this issue and even then wasn't great. The graphic''s look like a game from 3-5 years ago and they shouldn't be calling it a next gen mmorpg because it isn't. Looking at the differences in quality from TERA & Guild Wars 2 shows what next generation is about. I'll reserve my judgement of the game until I play beta tommorow, hopefully it will be fun to play. I dunno the art style just doesn't sit right with me.

I don't want to hear about boring slow leveling.  ( I want leveling to take time, but I don't want to hear anyone whining about it being slow and boring)

As for lag, server queues, etc, mentioned in the first post.  I don't really care about any those UNLESS it is on the scale of the Aion fotress raids he mentioned.  I have played many games at launch, starting with DAOC.  I can't think of one game that didn't have login server crashes, long queues, etc at launch.  When the starter areas are flooded with people the game will crawl.  Most games use similar systems.  Cram that many people into one area and you get congestion, lag.  Even the famed WoW was horrible the first week or two of play.  I kept logging in anyway, watching my toon trying to loot a single object for 5 minutes.  It's just the nature of the beast.  Throw hundreds of thousands of people at a system all hammering away at the same database objects and you will get delays.

Game can already be downloaded if you are in the beta, I let mine run while I went to the grocery store for 20 minutes, when I got back it was done. Game loaded up fine, logged in fine, just waiting for a server list tomorrow.

There are plenty of grindy games out there, just about every Asian game and a few western as well.  Perhaps you should play them instead.  I'm hoping as well that this game is about entertainment and not long assed grinds that are barely disguised as entertainment.

I don't mind long levelling curves... As long as it isn't a grind fest. Being slow doesn't mean grindy. Shadowbane was grindy, but it was super fast. You could level a rank 4 within few days (level 40), but your levelling experience consisted of killing maybe 5 different mobs within 5 or 6 spots. :P

I do not want to hear about any form of itammall or such crap like the MMORPG game list is flooded with.
I do not want to hear that the client is a very unoptimized PoS.
I do not want to hear that it is really just the result of Alganon/Aion/WoW having a threeway.

    Edit:

Wonder why it keeps adding Object Window crap to my post text.

    No I'm not disabling NoScript.

As I've said numerous times before, in a general sense I wish that companies would stop using their "beta test" as a marketing tool. I would also like them to stop calling what they are doing a "beta test". At best it's a stress test, which theoretically is a beta stage tool, yes. However, usually the beta test that most people that really want to beta test clamor for keys to these days is just a stress test and the real game changing and game shaping opportunities happened several months ago in the real beta test... I think most of the reason people get so bent out of shape when they don't get into one of these "beta tests" is because they missed an opportunity for some free game play, and have no desire to actually help make a game better. Not saying that is anyone here but it seems like the vast majority of people that is all they are after, free game time...

yea, this isn't a beta. Its a marketing tool. Sure, they are doing bug fixes, but theres no way thats the main reason for doing "1 weekend only" test. You can't test enough for a througal testing.

You'd be surprised how well ten thousand players running through an area, on different servers, can find bugs and unknowingly report them via developers tools. With that amount of players a lot can get done.

It isn't just one weekend. That's just this round of beta.

I agree with you here.  It is a stress test and a marketing tool, but with one little extra for the developing company, and maybe the reason they call it a beta, it is a time for testing how well everything works on a large scale which can not be tested in normal beta testing.  This way the company can always come back and say something like : "Well is was only a beta test, look how we improved it afterward!"

"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
