I just downloaded it and started playing. It's not like most mmorpg's but its definately fun. I think you definately get your money's worth.
Thanks for the review. I was wondering because everybody is saying that its not an mmorpg and it has no rp but you summed it up and im now 100% gonna buy it. Thanks.

Well, it is; POOP!
Once again more worthless drivel from a more even worthless opinion from someone who doesn't even have the game or barely played it.
You would be correct. He got to level 4, and from the way he described his experience, I think he'd be happier playing a game where WoW meets the Sims. That's not what Guild Wars is about. The game isn't for everyone.
I think this game is just awesome!! it's cheap and you don't have montly fees
i'm lvl 9 now and i'm in a guild (royal dutch forces) When you start playing the whole world looks so nice and sweet but when you're in world 2 (when the world get's darker) the game is becoming more difficult and you get addicted
Guild Wars is completely worth it. But just make sure you meet the system requirements. That is why i haven't got to play it a lot because of my video card but i am going to solve that problem today with an ATI Radeon 9200 Video Card cheers
Yes, buy this game! I have been playing for about a month and I am only level e/r 13 because I spend so much time exploring. I have a w/r 10 and r/e 11 also because I have been exploring the different builds.
Best game to come along in a long time and all you have to do to confirm that is read any review by any gaming zine. Check out player reviews too. Always very high scores.
I myself am addicted to the game. Strips out all of the annoying things most MMORPGs have (which makes some purists think it's not a MMORPG).
But it is indeed M-assive, a huge world to explore. Hundreds of hours at least. It is M-ultiplayer. It's O-nline. And it's a R-ole P-laying G-ame. It's a MMORPG, it's just so different (and better) that some folks won't admit it.
Awesome PvP action where you really do need to use strategy.
Very very customizable characters in both look and skill. Very well-thought out quests and missions that propel the overall story forward, but you can go about getting places however you want.
Amazing graphics.
Extremely stable, very little lag, no wait time to go between "zones".
In my experience, I'd have to say if your looking for a fun MMORPG save your money. This is a hopped up Diablo. They forgot the most important thing to an MMORPG and that the community. It's non-existant, I'd rather play Baldurs Gate 2, or NVN. Now the PvP part is alright, and the graphics are also ok, so if your a big fan of the pure PvP type games, you may want to give this one a shot, but anyone looking for an MMORPG should stay clear.
As far as gameplay goes, Guild Wars, in my opinion, is an excellent game. Interesting quests, short learning curve, and pretty fun PvP as well. My only real gripe with the game (and it is a big one) is the almost universally rude and childish community (in my experiences anyway).
why do people keep talking about guild wars as if it's a badly made MMO??
the developers never even said it's an mmo. i mean, fair enough it's on www.mmorpg.com but in my experience, most of these game don't deserve the title Massivley Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game.
most of them should be simply MMOG. i'm yet to find a game since UO which has role-playing in it. so if you want to get into semantics, sit the fuck down and shut up because you don't know what you're talking about
[we need a worldwide genocide/ a planetary suicide/ and when the whole damned world is dead/ there''s your f***ing peace]
Ok arnie, before you go off trying to sound like your "old school" and have this big huge revelation that just shuts everyone up, you best be going back to google and finding out what you're talking about.
RPG is now a genre, a game where you take the role of a character and live through him and his actions in the setting of whatever story. It is not reserved for people sitting around and playing AD&D, MUDS, and UO (biggest joke of a game there has ever been). Sure there are alot of people that like to take their roles further, and really get into them.
Now onto Guilwars. I'm not saying it shuldn't me labled an MMORPG because there's no RPG aspect, there is. I'm saying your MMO aspect is slim to none. You had pretty much the same interaction with the same crappy type of community in Diablo. Travel with a couple friends when your bored, power through the game, then sit and pk each other to your hearts content. And what good are their beautiful graphics, when everythings zoned and linear, and you're bumping into imaginary walls all over the place.
Guildwars failed it's attempt at becomming a solid MMO period, and there will be someone who comes along and easily topples Guildwars pitiful attempt.
Now lets hear another one of your "educated" speaches Arnie.. "you guys just sit down and shut the fuck up.. ok, because I wuz GW's and none of you have any ideas or thoughts, only i'm alowed to"
Originally posted by KMar_Soldier The game is definately worth buying. I'm sure you won't throw it away after playing for one week, that's for sure. The quests are often long and carry a storyline. The quests are very different from one another, so you won't get bored after doing a few. And, you can always join a PvP battle if you don't feel like doing a quest at that very moment.
sorry to be rude but..... what r u doing on this forum ?
I have not personally bought guildwars yet, but I am looking into it. I am not a fan ov PvP. I like quests, treasure, gold and team play (player vs monster). I have not yet decided to buy this, cause I don't want to waste money on it. The last game I bought was Everquet and played if for 9 days and threw the game away.It was a total waste of money for me after friends and co-workers always talked about how good it was. So, in saying that, I am getting skeptical about buying the game. I finally stopped playing diablo II after 5 years. That game gave me a good run and was worth every dollar. I know, dII is nothing compared to todays game, but, there were long quests and treasure to find lots of gold, team play and lots of different aspects to the game. I just dont' know. There are alot of different views to the game. The game is still $50 at retail stores and not much less at wally-world. If, I can only get a demo to get a true feel for the game. I have a feeling there won't be a demo for along time to come. By then, I will probably have lost interest in the game.
But this game is not for everyone. If your looking for level grinding and play for months just to be able to compete in any PvP this game is not for you.
If your looking for a game with the main thing being PvE your not gonna find much here
The core of this game is PvP that you can play at any time. Guilds vs. Guilds is an awsome way to show your skills in this game. Its nothing about level grinding or not much about the story and PvE
I'm just wondering if all the people that say this game sucks even get to the PvP action.

Make a difference!
I'm one of the ones who paid my $50 and was really disappointed.
I'll never pay for another game without a free trial first.

Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
This sounds like a very nice game
Is WoW better than guild wars???
Personally I think its worth buying. Like they said:
No Monthly charges
Play anytime you want, no more rushing home from work hoping you waste less of your monthly fee.
Good Storyline and Quests
No more lame spawn camping and wacking the same NPC for a few hours.
Guild and PvP is pretty well down. Its like a better version of diablo 2.
look men some times pepole will tell you that its relly great and others well say the opiset
it doesnt matter its what YOU like not OTHERS
so think about yourself look inside
(buy the game)
Buy it.

Definetly worth every penny!! All Hail GW!!
Im sure GW worth buying. It is a really unusual mmorpg and thats why it is very interesting. Good PvP, great graphics, good roleplaying.
