Yes.  regardless what the mouthbreathers say in these forums, WoW is still the best and most polished game on the market.

Only you can answer that question.  What is it worth to you? What are your expectations? etc.  Hacking is not something you need to worry about if you are smart about it.  Get an authenticator and then it will not even be a worry.  If you have a smartphone there is a free app for Android and Iphones that will allow you a free authenticator.

I like the game but given the fact you have really not specified what you are looking for in a game, nor your expectations your questions is going to be impossible to answer.

*deleted*   Pravius summed it up far better than I.

Recomend you create a super double secret "only used for my wow login" email account if/when you sign up. Don't use that email for anything else. Heck, I don't even log into mine.

And if you like the game after a month or two, just spend the $6.50 on an authenticator.

    Hacking is rare.

If you have a smart phone, Authenticator is a free app.  It basically gives you a number that you enter after your password, and dramatically increases account security.  (The number changes every 30 sec and is unique to you.)

And yes, quoting is not elegant in MMORPG.com's editor.

It was worth playing when it was released. I played from day one up to release of  BC and I can honestly say it was the best time I have ever had in a game and I don't think anything will top it ( apart from maybe World of Starcraft ;).

I got a 1 month sub to see the changes in Cataclysm and am very disapointed at how pathetically easy Blizzard have made the game.

Mounts at lvl 20 for a few gold

    Epic Mounts at 40 !!

The map shows where you need to go for quests

Flight paths all over the place

    Dual talent specs

I could go into more detail but it's just too soul destroying to think about what WoW has become.

Like a few others have said, it depends on your expectations. If you want a game where you can have fun and it won't feel like a second job, you may find WoW an enjoyable experience.  If you derive much of your self-worth from in-game challenges and achievements, you may be disappointed.

    Best of luck to you.

I just came back to WoW after 3 years. Honestly, it feels like a whole new game. There is a lot to do, battle grounds, dungeons, and PVP servers can be a hoot. your best bet, im my opioion is to try it out. I think you can get a demo. You can then get a feel for the game that way. Don't let others make up your mind, see for yourself if it is the place for you.

    Best of luck to you.

People get hacked cause they dont follow any sort of common sense in security.
If some one msgs you in game and says "this account has been hacked please go to this website to verify." Dont go to that website.... especially if it's not the color of Blizz whispers which are yellowish.

If you get Emails saying the same thing DONT go to those websites.
Blizz is not going to contact you unless you contact them first.
They dont ask you for info or any sort of things like that unless you are actually talking to them in a phone.

Not a single thing you mentioned made the game "harder"... just more tedious.  Everyone was using thotbot /wowhead or outside questing mods to find quest locations anyway, you can always turn off quest tracking if it really bothers you.

Sometimes I think people bitch just for the sake of bitching.

Did I say harder? Because I though I said "pathetically easy"....huh.

istarted playing 15 days ago and what i like:

    -large community

-dungeon finder (works cross server), you can always get into low level dungeons, especially as a tank or healer

-quite fast progression curve, you dont have to mindlessly grind quests and mobs to gain a level because of dungeons and dungeon quests (after 15 days i'm already lvl 70 and I'm casual)

-i play on a pvp server so open pvp is fun...makes it exciting, you dont loose anything i think when beeing killed you just have to run to your corpse, so if you,re a hardcore pvp person you wont have that much fun,

-archealogy...so fun if you want to take a break from dungeons or questing

-youll find some very interresting and fun quests

-some person said that he sees flyght paths as disadvantage, i don't agree with this because sometimes, even with all the flight paths there are, it takes me about 10 or even more minutes to go from A to B

    -flying mounts

    what i dont like

-crafting...its not bad but you need to have maxed proffesion to make any money out of it and sometimes maxing a proffesion requires alot of money (but this maybe depends on proffesion you choose)

-alot of quests that are "go and kill x stuff" however the "x" wasnt ever larger than 30, usually you have to kill about 10 or so mobs so it goes quite fast and with gear from dungeons its even faster

-large community ironnicaly, this means you have a bigger chance of meeting idiots :)

what comerb meant  was that the game wouldnt be any better (harder) without the things you mentioned ( without having a mount at 20 and so on) just more tedious...which is true

  • webly17webly17 Member Posts: 24

I fail to see how getting a mount at lvl 20 for a fraction of its original cost is tedious.

If you've never played WoW before and you like MMORPG's it will most likely blow your mind.

The content and the game are incredible.

I'm only quitting after 6 years to play other stuff.

Accounts being "stolen" has been around ever since the internet was created pretty much. Get the authenticator (if it doesnt come with one) and be safe with your info.

good advice  i changed my email last year after 2 friends got hacked and i used there pc . i all ready had the authenticator on so i was not to worried . wow worth playing if you not that fussed about gear how fast you get to end game  i know  we should not  hAVE  to buy the authenticator but for that little bit of extra security  i think it worth it  .

is pvp in this game good? are there like seiges for castles or anything like that? pvp is the best part of mmo's in my opinion

It's very gear intensive. And the honor grind can put off a lot of people.

There are "siege" type areas but they are done at a predetermined time (every few hours). Right now the balancing system they have for Tol Barad (the new pvp area) is borked. An area designed to have mass pvp ends up being little more than an arena match (5v5). The pvp can be fun but I'm a bit disappointed in the implementation of some of the ideas that blizzard has.

Because running very slow from point A to point B is ultimately just a matter of wasted time spent staring at your characters ass while traveling.  I don't know why this is difficult to understand, its not like its rocket science or quantum mechanics.

Here, let me link this one too since you obviously need help w/ the English language.

Just a joke I hope. WoW is not most polished game omg, stop saying that bullshit to every player who is asking about WoW. Tell them something more than one freakin word which is even lie.. Maybe try to say why is it most polished or why is it best - and dont tell only number of subscribers..! Thx..

If you like PvP or teamplay dont play WoW. Or its like this, PvP in WoW is not worst at all but if you like PvP most of the game I guess its not your game. Open world PvP is cool no doubt about that, arenas - ok but not that cool, its mostly FPS stuff in MMO. If you realy like PvP try Warhammer online, Age of Conan or EvE online - but EvE is more tactical and for some ppl boring.

But if you realy love PvP as I do and you also like kinda cartoon graphic definitely go for Warhammer, if you dont like cartoon graphic too much and you are looking for interesting combat system go for Age of Conan and pick melee class. ;)
