Meh, too long a textwall and seems a bit preachy. Will get back at it at a later moment maybe to read it then.

I guess that's nothing special compared to most other launches we've seen the last few years... oh wait, it is special image

But hey, Rift isn't something you like, I think we get that from all your posting.

I can't believe you've added questing in there. Can I ask have you actually played the game? Questing - and I use the term loosely - is awful. Aion had far far better graphics. And the combat in Rift is still up for debate.

I have. Speaking of Aion, did you do questing in Aion? The repeat quests too? Right.

Questing sucked pretty much in Aion, and regarding graphics, the Aion character graphics are only surpassed by AoC's and FFXIV's in my opinion, but the environmental graphics, please, give me a break: a mix of very low texture graphics and highly detailed graphics, Rift's environment graphics make more of an impression than Aion's.

Regarding character graphics: f**k the WoW and LotrO character models, not even mentioning DDO's, Vanguard's, Darkfall's or Fallen Earth's. Rift's character graphics are better than those.

I could go on, but what's the point? Some people are going to keep on disagreeing just to disagree and because they're on the anti Rift bandwagon, so scrap any reasonable discussion about it. Besides, tastes and opinions differ, there is no real 'right' or 'wrong' in them in most cases.

Go Cyphers! Go! Face it you fighting a losing battle. Books, movies and games. These are this based on feelings. What does the viewer/reader/player feel. Most of it isnt based on logic, hell if it where Cyphers then WoW wouldnt be no1. The players say this game feels shit in the first 20 levels....dude this game is over before it began, all it will have is a dedicated player base.

Unless something amazing happens , I cant see the future so hey! At least you got some time to hope.

'losing battle', lol. No more coolaid for you!

'the players say', please, are you only seeing what you want to read, do you need that much fuzzy confirmation for you, knowing that others dislike the game as much as you? Aaaw...

Heh, I don't give a damn whether people like a game or dislike it, but people doing their utmost bashing a game because it's so much like the other games they're playing and saying it's boring, while then returning happily and satisfied to their 'same old' games again, now that's just hilarious image Come on, admit it, you should see the laugh in the double standards and hypocrisy as well, right.

*sips coolaid* *chokes* AGGHH....I'm ok... What do you mean I'm only reading what I want to read >.<, the dissatisfaction is on every page of every thread...you cant miss it and I know its hate cause your right there posting after in everyone hehehe. I see it as they played the game got pissed cause of the crappy feel it left with em, ignited the spark and the fire has started. Of course Id dismiss as pure silliness but hmm theres already quite a lot of it even for this forum soo I'm just reading what the players are saying.

eh... ok, I admit, I only said it because it sounded cool image (well, a bit more than that but that's not important image)

Yep, I agree, it's an interesting trend to watch and follow - and fun to reply on every time - and I'm actually curious how it develops in the next few months. I should actually take a look at some other general gaming forums to see if there's a big difference (again) between mmorpg.com forums and those others.

Shrug. In the end it all doesn't matter that much, sub numbers a few months after launch will really show how enjoyable an MMORPG was or not for the early adopters.

Getting back to the original post...really-a tiny world?  Not sure if you mean this geographically or a lack of content.

You level to 20 in one zone and then supposedly the leveling slows down a lot.  Did you see how many more zones there are on the map?

There is going to be plenty of things to do and the zones will be stuffed with content.  Several endgame instances at launch and an instance or so every zone you level in.

Would you rather have an enormous world with half of it being empty like Vanguard at launch?

I've played a ton of MMO's - the zone didnt seem small at all to me.

Hang on a second...The First real leveling zone is tiny?  You mean where you are getting your real knowledge on your class with talents and abilities?  It took me a good 7 minutes of running from one end to the other in the first event.

This was the "newbie area" after the real tutorial.  It would be a terrible idea for them to make a huge open expansive area where people get lost.

It's no where near the biggest area for that level I've played in, but it is no where near the smallest either.  Does having a huge giant world make the game more fun?  SWG was HUGEEEEEEEEE.  And 93% of it was just hills and trees and small patches of mobs.  There's a random destroyed house! Let's go check it out..Oh nothing.  There is a patch of trees. Oh nothing there.

Now could you say certain parts of the newbie area was confined? Sure.  That can give the feeling of small.

hrm how big exactly would you want the world to be? a lot of games have large maps and the gameplay is dragged out unless you have a mount. when i played wow a couple years ago everyone complained until they got one... also the game is in beta, and leveling to 20 seemed even with the areas. didn't have to grind or anything...

  • TelilTelil Member Posts: 282

starting zones were bigger than eq?

Now i am a huge EQ fan..its my fave game ever, but i could level from 1 to 20 in greater fay and crushbone.....meaning a much smaller starting area, and dont forget EQs max level was also 50 on release. Though admittedly they had more starter area's.

Questing is better than most games i have played to be honest! quests where i have to read the text are more worth it for me. The one where you have to watch the npc messages so you can use the correct ward to protect that dwarf guy? thats much better than kill 10 chickens. Yes they also had those run of the mill quests but thats to fill in the hand holding for people. But on the whole the quests were quite well written and had a little variety. Heck i can't actually think of any game thats better other than my old EQ where a quest was for the lore and a n item...not progression!

I also climbed mountains to see if i could sneak peak.....i hit an invisible wall and could just see scenery, nothing else! i'm presuming there is more there :)

Come on guys...i'm no fanboy or whatever label you want to call people but....let6s give them some credit...the game is no next gen but its a solid, polished and fun game. The devs listen and react ( so far ) and it has an interesting slant on char progression. Which to all the people saying it's just wow trees in a different skin. get a grip its a whole lot more than that. The switching roles, mixing classes etc!

All i can say now is well done Trion! pat yourselves on the back and now get to work on adding something that truly is new :)

must disagree with the OP on this one,

While he has a point that the world isnt realy big, i think a tiny world is totaly over the edge thing to say.

The world was just fine for me.

Or does the OP wants another Vanguard world that "seems" empty??

Rift will be my next mmo.
