WOW: Cataclysm is a great game. I had a blast gearing my mage through heroics despite the fact I was receiving a 36+ minute queues, which is clearly Blizzard's fail for making rest of the class roles less appealing to the public.
Now that I'm done with heroics, I found myself having way too much time doing nothing useful in the game toward my character and the only things left to be done was repetitive daily grind and archeology, which is probably the most boring thing invented since the release of WOW.
That being said I have to find a new home, a new bread of entertainment, either a MMO or a single player where at least I'll have things to do for longer period of time that is entertaining in a way. I need some variety and excitement. I need adventure and immersion. If it's a MMORPG I want to have more freedom in my character development as well as more impact to the world I participate in.
Hail SWG-Pre CU and Ultima Online (without Trammel and 3rd party programs that ruined PvP). For now less WOW and more girls if the community or developers fail to attract me with a mature MMORPG. And when it comes to WOW, I can just youtube the epic boss encounters and they are already in my mind. Killing them over and over it's just not worth the $15, not when everything else is just pure boredom for me.

Start a weird RP cult for the sake of being weird and see how everyone reacts?
But in response to the post, what aspect do you specifically wish to discuss? or is it just a rant about how there is no game for you? (I feel you)
dude what kind of girls is a 106 year old from Canada is expecting to get?
You did all the raids and achievements?
I played WoW for 6 years and finally cancelled my sub after playing a bit of DCUO.
DCUO is definitely for me, not so sure about you but i thought it was worth mentioning.
I forgot to mention: you cannot seriously blame blizzard for the que times. Out of the millions of players most of them want to play a dps class, thats just how it is in any game really. People that play tanks and healer classes are massively outnumbered.

Wait for GW2 or TERA or Rift or SW:ToR. Next year is looking great for MMOs. I could suggest the one I want to play the most, but Ill let others say what game is going to be better. I think its all opinion and speculation right now anyways.
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
I consumed Cataclysm in almost 3 weeks, now what?
I dunno....
.... get a job... maybe?
Hmm..go out, meet people, a girl if possible, hit gym, get fit, climb a mountain, a trek across sahara desert.... life is limitless.
"I consumed Cataclysm in almost 3 weeks, now what? "
Grats.
Now go raid.^^
But seriously though, the WHOLE game is pretty new, not just what you left your 80 mage at.
Reroll a new class and start in one of those ripped up zones as a lowbie. It's really cool seeing how the Elves got torn a new one and doing the new quests were kind of neat.
Or try a Goblin or try a Worgen.
Or do the Archeology.
If you really have to ask what to do in a WoW game... you're not looking very hard. Theres's tons of stuff especially with the new quests and changes.
"TO MICHAEL!"
Sit there and realize that you wasted all that money on the xpac when everyone warned people before it was released. Just for that I think you need to play the new FF for a month and then start on Star trek. Might as well get it all in.
lol, but on a serious note. This is a good time to get into a indepth game you never played. I started playing EQ 2 and having a ball. Might even get back into Aion as I heard that its pretty good now.
Try the Fallen Earth trial.........
Where to begin...First, what do you expect from a MMORPG? What do you want it to do for you? Games are just that...Entertainment.
I would suggest you find a guild that you really enjoy being with, and then have fun.
MMOs are not really supposed to be solo games, even though WOW can be soloed until you start progression raiding.
Well, if you really want to know what to do I would suggest you start trying to get into end game raids or roll another toon?
Start a guild?
I don't even play WOW anymore, but I can still appreciate the game. If it isn't your style, then try another game.
If you are looking for a challenge try out EVE Online, however, I would suspect that you would find it boring. A skill based game would prolly frustrate you, because you are so used to power-leveling.
One final thought, your tone and attitude remind me of a child that is crying to their parents because they aren't entertaining them enough.
Honestly, if you are passive participant in games and simply wait for games to entertain you then you need to find something else to do or start playing. WOW is a fantasy game, which means that you really do need to become a little invested in their character or at least interact and be active participant.
Currently Play: ?
Occasionally Play: Champions, Pirates of the Burning Sea, WOW, EVE ONLINE
Never quite understood that last statement or two that you made there, and I've seen people say it a lot in terms of "why raids aren't difficult". Some variation on the statement, "raids are easymode because all the walk-throughs are on YouTube", or on some wiki site or what-have-you, comes up time and again in these and other forums.
The thinking presented every time is that having walk-throughs on YouTube renders raids not challenging and therefor the game game in quesetion sucks.
An equally odd variation on that is "the raids aren't difficult because you use add-ons that tell you everything you need to do".
There's such an incredibly common-sense response to those arguments that I really have to wonder if it really, truly, hasn't occured to those making them.
Ready for it? It might blow your mind... (<--- intended sarcasm)
If using online guides and walkthroughs on YouTube or wiki sites makes raids less challenging to you... Then don't use them.
If using third party add-ons that take all the learning and trial-and error and challenge of learning a boss fight "organically" ruins the experience for you... Then don't use them.
Still, it highlights a recurring theme that I've brought up many times around here, in many different situations... Players impose things on themselves (specific playstyles, etc) and then blame the game for it. The game doesn't force people to go watch a video or install an add-on before they do a raid. The developers don't force them to do it either. The players choose to do it themselves...
If doing those things ruins the experience for you... then don't do those things!

This is probably the best recommendation. Look at them all.
You have to be fricken kidding. GTFO this forum with that dumb crap.
Why the hell are you on a forum for MMO's if you want to play a MMO.
MMO's are NOT supposed be solo games, hence the name MMO.
I'm like you, don't use walkthroughs or addons, these diminish the challenge of the game, why on earth go into a new dungeon if you know exactly whats going to happen from setting foot in the place until you spill your last drop of boss blood, you know all the percentages on the loot drops, you know exactly where to stand, what spells to use, what spells and skills to look out for etc etc etc.
Now the problem is I need at leasat 4 other like minded ppl to play alongside me who also want that same challenge, and I'l tell you what, your hard pressed to find them, even in my own guild I'l have 1 other who I always grp with who won't look up tactics for a boss fight.
Ofc on the flip side of the coin your the one that gets yelled at, or abused on teamspeak when things go wrong, becuase your the only person who didn't do his homework, and hasn't got his addons, you can't win.
Anyhow I can totally understand the OP, once you realise that after the shortlived end game there really is nothing left for you to do that is actually going to been new and exciting, it will just turn into one big timesink, designed to keep you plowing your money into the game each month waiting for the next big update to throw you 10 or so new quests and perhaps a new wing of a dungeon, woop dee doo.
ROFLMAO!
. . . limited character development in EVE??!! You have to be kidding. In EVE you can be anything, not jsut be career but also by skill development. WOW is 1000x more limiting in character development.
In EVE if you want to use projectiles, learn it; want to learn lasers, learn it; want to hack; learn it, want to salvage, learn it; want to R&D, learn it; want to manufacture, learn it; want to be a pirate, learn it, want to be a fleet commander, learn it; want to be a mining director, learn it; etc... if you want to be all those things you can.
In WOW if you wnat to be mage, pick one kind <--- fully developed.
The comment about be boring for you is due to the nature of the game and that there's long periods of time that require strategy (which wont ever be found on YouTube), planning, scouting, preparing, counter-intelligence, etc... It is a game that favors patience and the bold.

I just replied to a some what similar thread on the wow sub forum, I'll just post it here too.
I'm feeling pretty burned as well. Cataclysm sounded so much better on paper to me then how it actually played out. I was really excited for this expansion and it was nice while leveling 80-85. I love how they have cut scenes and better story telling but the newnesst wore off so quickly. I was right back into my boring routine. It feels like I have already been playing this expansion for a year.
I think it is great they re did the 1-60 experience but I don't level alts. That really didn't benefit me at all and I wonder if it was really worth it. Does this game really have that much new blood coming into it? Maybe it does. I just felt like there could have been just that much more higher end content since that is where players spend most of the time.
And speaking of high end content once it feels exactly same as WoTLK just harder. BC we got heroics and WoTLK expanded and improved on the heroics and revamped raid systems but Cataclysm I don't really feel like anything new was brought to the table. How many expansion we can do the same exact same thing. It is the same blue print over and over.
My average WoW day is consists of logging in, doing my dailies and attempting the daily heroic. Then I log out bored with nothing to do. I say attempt the daily heroic because pugs fail so hard I refuse to use the LFD tool. LFD=Looking for Disappointment. Heroics are actually quite fun and refreshing in a guild group but a lot of times that isn't possible.
I'm not huge into pvp, I do enjoy battlegrounds casually but WoWs Pvp has always been a break from PvE for me. That makes me sad because I really could get into PvP if it had a focus on world RvR type instead of instanced battles. Like warhammer but done right. Wintergasp and Tol Barad are just epic failures at this. I can't consider them world/rvr pvp if battles have timers on them like they do and are not player instigated. They might as well be instanced as far as I'm concerned. They probably would be if they didn't tag a loot pinata raid to it.
The one thing I did like a lot was the new guild systems. Guild Leveling and achievements I think are awesome. For someone just getting into WoW, it is a better time then ever before. But for someone who has been playing for years I just don't think it brings enough to the table.
Remember these are just my opinions and may not be a reflection on how the over all player base feels, so there is no need to argue over it. Don't want to start a fanboy/hater bickering contest. Threads die hard and fast when that happens.
Play a different game?
Keep grinding the same content for a year or so until Blizzard gives you 3 more weeks and 5 more levels I guess. Regardless of what ya do have fun doing it!
I don't think MMO's are for you, you seem like a very anti-social person, and I don't even know why you are on the site in the first place. MMO's are a great place to make online friends that you will form bonds with and play many games with. I met several people in EVE Online and have played BFBC2, Freelancer, WoW, and many other games with them. Being in a guild doesn't just mean, "oh now I have to be on a vent and be social." It has a lot of added benefits besides the social aspect.
It seems like you need a break from MMO's and should stick to single player games and go outside and get some friends. Then come back when you have a firm grasp on reality, and you'll be ready to fully enjoy MMOs.
Guess what? I'm going to keep soloing in MMOs with grouping on the side. Got a problem with how I spend my money and time in an MMO? TOO BAD! You can't do anything about how I play or use my time in an MMO.
As for MMOs...I've sort of taken a break until Guild Wars 2 is released. Rift looks really nice too. I occasionally subscribe to Fallen Earth and Age of Conan, my two favorite MMOs (personally). I got Cataclysm for WoW, but I haven't really touched it...like I said, I prefer FE and AoC.
Other games you can try is Nehrim, total conversion mod for Oblivion (PC only). All you need is Oblivion and download the latest patch. Amazing mod that shuns Oblivion. Though not to discredit Oblivion at all, I love it...but Nehrim is just a lot better.
There is also a Lord of the Rings total conversion mod being made for Oblivion (Middle-Earth Roleplaying Project)...I wouldn't get too hyped up for it, still 3-4 years from release...and maybe even longer. Looks awesome though.
Other games I'm enjoying that I recommend is Natural Selection 2, which is more of a FPS, but has RTS elements too. Its kind of like Alien Vs Predator, without the Predator and instead they are Marines (humans)...its in beta...a bit laggy though and not a lot of content at the moment. Damn fun though.
I'm also really enjoying Two Worlds 2, way better than Two Worlds 1, not as good as Nehrim (imo) but still really nice.
Minecraft is amazing...most everyone has heard of it now that is into gaming. So much fun.
I've also gone back to playing Rome Total War with Roma Surrectum 2 mod for it. Lots of fun too if I'm in a strategy mood.
not really liking any MMOs outside those two...but GW2 should be amazing, same with Rift. Tera I'm not sure how about. But next year should be an amazing year for MMOs.

Fly over the opposing faction capital city and dive-bomb flagged lowbies.
But again... if someone keeps paying a subscription to the game even though it's become old and repetitious and they're not enjoying it... whose fault is that? The game's, or the player's?
It's the player's, of course.
They could also take a braek from the game and wait for the new content to be released. Play something else in the meantime. Dust off those console games that might have been collecting dust (at least that's how it is for my collection :-p)...
There's also this argument about "MMOs doing things to keep you paying every month...". Well, yeah... MMOs are designed as long-term games, and the idea is to keep players entertained so they'll keep wanting to pay that subscription fee every month. The thing to that is... if you're paying a subscription, it would be assumed that you're enjoying something about the game enough to warrant it. Otherwise, why pay for something you're not enjoying?
If the game's become a drag... then take a break and play something else.
What you touch on there is another example of people imposing these things on themselves (continuing to play something even though they're not enjoying themselves)...and then blaming the devs/games for it, as though it was forced upon them. Playing a MMO, or choosing not to is a 100% voluntary act.

Darkfall will keep you going for a while if its character progression you want. It's a little bit too much for most people but you most certainly won't have 'finished' it in 3 weeks nor 3 months.
Great PvP and fun PvE and not overly expensive + free trial. Give it a shot but don't expect it to hold your hand as much as WoW does.
