Heh, since you have a LOTRO banner, I assume we can agree LOTRO is great. It was just my difficulty level. Just log in, have fun, no great pain or hassle. My kind of MMO. However, after playing since day 1, I just have seen it all. *shrug* I am bored in LOTRO and I need new worlds. Just that devs make nothing for me.
You want casual MMOs they're all around you. Haven't you at all been following Rift's development?
Nah, Difficulty's a distance 2nd to Guildwars... Barely worth mentioning. If there's one glaring flaw with the difficulty itself though it's that the Combat is so bad now that the Difficulty isn't worth it.
Combat is way better than most games out there atm, my only beef is that the animations look clunky with the speed of it all.

I agree with him, the problem with the game is the missions need to be marked as group or individual + I think some threat level would be good.
Everything but alerts are soloable; everything.
The nightwing and bane encounter is surely designed for 2/3? I do disagree a bit I think some things are tougher than they should be, unless flagged as group content.

You know you always get a powerful NPC to back you up in those fights right?
Ever thought about backing off and letting him take some hits so you can heal?
I repeat; all soloable unless it's an alert.

GTwander is absolutely correct. All the mentor based missions are 100% soloable. Nightwing and Bane are no exception. The difficulty in the boss fights is a matter of strategy. People that approach them as a toe to toe fight will have problems. You need to use what's in the missions to your advantage, whether it's another superhero/villain, or a physics objects.
Honestly I dont see how you can say that the game is hard, the last Alert is kinda hard at the very end as the boss is tactically difficult and punishes you for slight mistakes with death.
But at no time during the other 3 Alerts did I ever feel like the game was beyond a random generated group, as long as they listen and try to follow the strategy its pretty simple, but then again I guess that could be said with most MMO boss fights.

You can repeat it a 100 times, and it still doesn't be true. Yes, some super expert clicky console gamer can do tons of things. But just accept that some things are way too difficult for the AVERAGE gamer. Stop making your expert skills the measure for everyone! I am in a 300+ people guild in CO, half of us tried out DCU and almost everyone agreed with me. Some super console experts have no difficulty, yes. We get it. But most people are not representative with what lurks around MMORPG.com
We have 2011, not 1999. People today have way less patience. Like it or not, they are by and large influenced by games like WOW, LOTRO and the like. They don't have this hardcore attitude of past decades. So I just see that DCU has a bit problem. Just like in so many other MMOs before, the fanbois are in denial.
@miagisan: I just was right in 95% of all my prediction that a MMO would fail. I guess the record speaks for ME not you. EVERY SINGLE MMO I said to have severe issues in the end either failed or almost fell into oblivion. All of them. And yet, after all these years you pretend to make it a personal matter. It is ridiculous and sad at the same time. When will you learn that this is about objective weaknesses, not some personal quirks. Do we really have to repeat this game every single time a new MMO comes out, that you praise it like the new holy grail and flame everyone who says otherwise? Has NOT every single MMO in the last 3-4 years been only a variation of shit? Think again, before claiming such absurdities as to say, it is only my personal matter.

Some lieutenant-level mobs need re-balancing, but as long as you either take them out quickly or learn to block their attacks, this and the similar level Harley Quinn quest are easily soloed at the appropriate level. (You know it needs tweaks when the iconic supervillain end boss isn't the hardest fight in the mission.)
I agree with GTWander in spirit, if not in tone. The game isn't that hard, balance issues notwithstanding. It doesn't play like most mmos, so it requires retraining your mmo brain. If you're unwilling to undergo that, it's never going to work for you. Elikal, you're very much on record about your feelings. Why do you keep lodging the same complaint?
This thread is lived its life, Dcuo is easy and 90% of it is easily soloable, the boss fights like bane and others usually have some type of strategy to them and running up to them smacking them in the face for 5 minutes usually won’t get you a kill.
I have had no problem what so ever completing all the quests solo With many different class/weapon combos, This doesn’t mean I’m great, uber, top 1% of players because I’m very average. If you look around all the boss fights have healing barrels, use them! But most don’t need anything but patience.
I fine this thread to be amussing, (this game is too hard!!!!) um... ( no its not you just suck!!!!)
I think what the OP is trying to say is... Why can't we have a slider bar better suited for
People who play a few hours a week, rather then just make it so peolpe
Who decide to turn this game into there job and play it 10+ hours a day,
Be fun for both side..
I know I know, now the Harder side people are going to say.
"well thats not fair why should i have to work my ass off on playing a harder game to get (X) godly gear
while other players that suck don't have too"
Simple. Stop working your ass off and turn down your diff. It's all about choices :-)
What?
It's not about this game becoming a 2nd job, it's completely incapable of doing so. It's about a simple instance being too hard for certain people because they don't know what to do beyond running in and going nuts. Do you have any idea how fast it takes to level in this game in the first place?
You've read into it completely *wrong*.

Champions is easy mode, and that may be part of the problem. Compared to CO, DCU IS hard. I find it a challenge, sometimes, depending on the build I'm using, but that's part of the fun. I feel like I'm overcoming something. I can't imagine the PvE servers requiring constant vigilance, either.... there are plenty of safe spots to retreat to.
People just need to find a way to play the game that suits them. I'm nearing 50 years old, and the button clicks will probably do me in. So... I'm playing with the attacks that require the least presses, and trying to utilize hotkeys more. Works for me, and I'm managing to have fun.
I've played a few games over the past years, since leaving WoW long ago. None have been AWESOME, but they've done the trick. Heck, I played Conan for 18 months, and had a good time there too. Different strokes, different yokels.
It’s a matter of opinion, the desire of being able to use a slider bar and only be able to play a few hours here and there and be successful is exactly what dcuo is.
You can complete an entire mentor quest chain in under a hour , it’s not a grind game, hell you can make it to level cap in a day and yet its to hard and to grindy,.
guess we should just instantly grant a level per day for those who are ofline so they can be successful while not even playing.

A challenge can enhance the enjoyment of a game but the problem with a lot of the content in DCU is that it is more frustrating than challenging. I don’t have a big issue with most of the solo instances (although a few are annoying) but a lot of the questing hubs are downright a pain. Large groups of mobs huddled in a tight group with mobs that have abilities that pull into the middle of them and others that stun you is annoying to say the least especially at level 9 when you don’t even have a escape ability yet. It’s not too bad if there are even one or two other players in the area thinning out the populations but if you trying to do a quest in a area alone it can be a nightmare.
The only thing I can think of is that the people who say DCU is easy have never done a lot of questing in areas alone.

You can’t really make the assumption that the people who say it’s easily and solable haven’t soloed the quest hubs lol,
if anything you would think that they breezed through it and that’s why they say the game is easy and soloable.
Some of the quest hubs can be a pain, but you can’t run into them like these non agro zones you find in all these generic games. Take some time, look at your skills, the area and plan accordingly.

I'm the last person to say, "But it's a beta! It will all be fixed at launch" when the game is a week away from launching. But I've been in betas where mob re-spawn rate was tweaked two times a day during the last week before going live, and then hotfixed twice on launch day. Maybe they won't fix it, but I expect they will -- right now they just don't know how many players will be in a quest hub clearing things out. (I also expect they'll lower xp rewards, so it takes longer than ten hours to reach max level, and unfortunately they'll probably do something to dumb down combat, like give mobs more hit points but weaker attacks; and that's why I'm not going to even think about buying this game for several months, even though I like it a lot).
