I played all 3 Betas and played through all 4 archtypes. I was blown away with the graphics first and foremost and the terrain and environments look absolutely stunning. The combat was ok, pretty much similar to other MMo's on the market, but hopefully the spell and combat animations get a boost before release because I felt that was the only downfall of the game so far..
Since it's new and fresh, and reminds me of EQ in many ways, I already preordered the collector's edition.. If I enjoy the level 1-20 content, then there's a good chance the higher level content can be better.. However, it does bother me a little bit that we have only been able to level to 20.. Hopefully we don't have another Vanguard on our hands where once you got pas level 38ish, content is broken and barely nonexistant.. That would be the nail in the coffin for me. But I'm thinking positively and believe the game will keep me interested for months and maybe years to come.

Pre-ordering automatically allows you access to the Beta from what I understand.
If that is so, then you can get in the beta and judge whether you did the "right thing" or not based on how you like the game.
If you feel you did after trying it out, do nothing and just wait til launch (or post how much you liked it).
If you feel you didn't do the "right thing", cancel your pre-order, uninstall and come back and post (why you didn't like it).
Asking others if you're gonna like the game or did you do the right thing is weird, because unless they know what you like.. they can't decide that for you.
Try the beta.
I did that with my Aion pre-order. I pre-ordered it from Amazon and after trying the beta, I cancelled my order and all was good.
I have pre-ordered too which is something I never do these days since getting my fingers burnt by Vanguard . However this game from what I've seen of it has none of the issues that hampered the likes of Age of Conan , Warhammer and Aion . Its polished and fun and even though it builds on other mmos such as WoW and EQ it does so with style . Most people I've talked to have been blown away by the beta . Of course there will always be some that don't like it and other that will come onto these forums and say they've been int he beta but wont be buying because they feel the game they are playing is under threat and you know what this time it may just be .
If you enjoy WOW then you will probably prefer WOW to Rift. If you dont enjoy WOW then you probably wont enjoy Rift.
Not true at all. OP don't sweat it. I only played in beta 3 and had no problems parting with $120 for the digital CE plus 6 month sub commitment. It's not children's high fantasy and cartoony like WoW. First thing I noticed was the beautiful graphics and constant action surrounding you. Good choice!
i was tempted to preorder too, but then i told myself to try the beta first, which is what i'm waiting for. only you can decide if it's the right decision or not, if you enjoy the game then it's the right decision, if you didn't enjoy the game then you probably shouldn't have preordered it.
and you have to buy the game AND pay a monthly fee? that's not very nice is it?

I hated WoW, but I didn't hate playing Rift

I have pre-ordered too /shivers lol.
My gf loves the game after trying out my beta account heh. So we both pre-ordered.
So far the game is solid and smooth and pretty much bugfree. Quite a breeze compared to even released games these past 3 years.
Lolwut?
That makes no sense at all.
I don't enjoy WoW but I do enjoy Rift, so....
And, OP, I have already preordered CE x 2.
Im tempted to pre-order Rift, but is it going to go to a constant open beta before release or are they just going to keep having weekend events?
I'm all in on Rift. Pre-ordered last night.
Someone hold my hand, I'm doing quests.
