If you think Wonderwoman was great, I'm terrified for your taste in acting. I suppose Kristen Stewart is up there for your Oscar nominations with such low standards.

For the mentors this is my rankings:
Joker/batman: Can't do better, these guys define the character.
Superman and lex luthor: I thought they were both quite good. Sounds appropriate, good acting. Invoked the appropriate emotions in an appropriate way.
Circe: Stilted and over the top and not enjoyable.
Wonderman: At least whoever did circe threw some emotion in. This is stilted AND bland. very very meh
The rest of the voice acting of the more minor character I payed less attention to but it all seemed pretty decent. Flash, zatanna etc none of them stood out as amything bad. Brother blood was a bit over the top but I think he is kind of supposed to be a bit crazy. Ambush bug is good.
The majority of the quest NPCs are pretty bad, although not the worse I have heard. Mark Hamill as the Joker is amazing though. I've played this game is beta and he is the reason why I chose the Joker as my mentor.
Edit: now that I think about it, the quality of the voiceovers is more noticable when you have a people like Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy doing voice overs for two characters, and then you hear the rest and they aren't even on the same level.

thats what i meant i didnt pick it up post beta, wasnt my type of game, but the quest npcs compared to the main characters voice are what made me notice how bad those quest character voices were.

Underlined: You reallize that up until the last patch in beta, a large portion of dialog was still placeholder voices, right? Some of those were quite bad because the devs =/= voice actors.
Personally, I like the voices, for the most part. I'm not totally sold on Adam Baldwin for Superman, but it's not terrible. Gina Torres voices WonderWoman, btw, and I find that her portrayal of WW fits rather fine with the portrayals of the character that I'm familiar with (comic, jlu, animated movie). Summer Glau's Supergirl feels right as does James Marsters' Lex. The dude voicing Calculator is also superb. Throw in Wil Wheaton as Robin, Arleen Sorkin as Harley and Dwight Shultz as Flash.......
Honestly, I'm really suprised to hear people complain about the voice work in this game. Of all the shortcommings that can be hammered on, this certainly isn't one of them. But I guess to each their own.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
Circe is voiced by Michelle Forbes (Admiral Kain in the BSG Razor epis, among other things) and I've always loved her so...I find fault with absolutely no voice acting in this game at all. I knew I was especially going to love Calculator when he did his "...there are suck-...uh, people...who will pay...."
Frankly, I am loving this game beyond love. I installed the Rift beta a few days back and played it for a grand total of twenty freaking minutes before it felt exactly like every other MMO I have played in the years since the original Everquest came out.
DCUO rocks, and I'm enjoying the feel of trying to PvE while dealing with an open-world PVP server. Awesome.
In terms of name recognition, I'm quite sure no MMO has had better voice talent. Half the cast of "Firefly" (Summer Glau, Adam Baldwin, Gina Torres), Michelle Forbes from Star Trek TNG, Homicide, True Blood and Battlestar Galacitca (you've probably managed to catch at least one of those, nerds), and to fill in the gaps most of the voice actors from the DC Animated Universe (including Luke Skywalker himself).
The problem is a combination between "phoning it in" and lousy/uninteresting writing. It doesn't matter how good the actor, reading a line like, "I need you to travel to the Waterfront of Gotham City" just isn't very compelling.
You guys expecting oscar performences? The voices are good enough and get the job done. The are not horrible to a point they ruin the game (think Two worlds). I think they are done well and I enjoy them. Its video game voice acting, not a block buster movie
Wonderwoman voice sounds like a actor that played on a kids detective show... I forget the name of it. She is an older african american lady (not being racist). The show is on the tip of my tounge, but the actrresses face is clear in my mind... I'm want to say the show was "Where in the world in Carmon Sandiego".

I thought Wonder Woman sounded like an old black lady too. Just what comes into mind when hearing the voice.

Really kinda ruins any interaction with her.
Well, it's true, the woman who plays Wonder Woman is a black lady. She's in her early forties, which shouldn't necessarily sound old. . .
I think Gina Torres is a great actor, but that's the one real misstep I think they made in terms of casting. There's no way around the fact that she sounds African American. Since they were using the cast of Firefly, Morena Baccarin would have been a better choice for Diana, but that's at least partly because she was a fan favorite for playing the roll when it was briefly rumored that Joss Whedon would direct a live action Wonder Woman movie.
Sure, Conroy and Hamill are great. But, just about everybody else sounds absolutely horrible. The worst of the worst is what enemies say while you're fighting them/after you KO'd them. It's laughably bad. Still a great game. But let's be fair about the negatives to this game. Having two good voice actors is not enough to make up for the rest of it being horrid.
I'm Boosster Gold and I sound like a Dev from the basement Closet! They beat me after I record my voice describing the useless locations I send you to. I'm not annoying AT all! This is Booster Gold, being drug back into his basement closet by his fellow devs....and remember if you need me, I go by THE GIMP around here!
Wil Wheaton as Nightwing is also pretty awesome. I loved The Riddlers voice acting though I'm not sure who has voiced him. I think the good voice acting far outweighs the bad.

i agree....the voice overs are very bad
Hold on. I seriously hope you are not dissing Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamil. Because if you are you are nuts.
Now whoever plays wonderwoman and Circe yeah I am kinda meh on.
Yeah right, try harder, Voiceovers are amazing, Hamill as the Joker is pure enjoyment.

i was talking about all the quest npcs and such. They are very bad

Only one I have a problem with so far is wonder woman.
Sounds like an old crone or something lol.

The voice acting I have experienced has been excellent, and I have yet to meet many of the 'bigger' names.

If there was an award for best voiceover in an MMORPG 2011 that award would go to Mark Hamill in a landslide. He did an outstanding job as joker.
and it looked like superman was chewing gum instead of talking in a cutscene
other than that no complaints
Every main npc char voice over I've heard so far has been amazing. Such a fail troll thread, Michelle Forbes, fkin awesome.
