Does "action oriented combat in a massively multiplayer environment" sound more enticing to you?

No, which is why I wondered if there are other aspects that makes it great.

I could add "... that works really well and is a ton of fun", but I get the feeling this is just not the game you're looking for.

Something else beside "action oriented combat" pls.

People aren't allowed to like it because they can finally enjoy the combat in an MMO?  If someone thinks that's reason enough, then that's reason enough.

Sure they can, but I am more interested to hearing other aspects beside action oriented combat which makes the game great.

That is not enough for me to buy the game as there are tons of single player games with action oriented combat.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you don't want to hear much about the other aspects.  You asked in a thread about what this game has to keep you past the first month,  not just on the thread you started but on multiple threads,  and I answered your question on multiple threads,  yet you still continue to ask the same questions in different threads continuously.  If you are truly interested in the game there are plenty of reviews out there including an ongoing on provided by IGN,  but that would require some actual interest instead of apropos baiting.

Look at post 19 on that thread the guy counts 10 mouse icons for an aerial attack. There was another review I saw the guy said 9 clicks for a dual sword attack.

There are only 2 weapon skills that have click combos that are remotely close to 10 clicks,  Staff and Dual Wield weapons.  All others have 3 - 5 hit combos, and rifle doesn't really have any click combos at all,  most of it is just hold down one button and move in different directions.  Keep in mind that there isn't just 1 combo or two combos,  you can string multiple combos together,  so while my dual pistols character may have 3 or 4 complete combos,  by mixing and matching  I actually have 7 or so different combos that I can string at any time depending on the situation.

Good to know masked thank you so if I take rifle and avoid the dual weapons and staff I should be able to play thisimage

What about martial weapons or hand blasts ? Are they in the same category as dual weapons ?

MA and HB are medium speed. Brawler and 2 handed are nice for fewer clicks that pack a punch.

DC is much better then I expected. Runs very nice. Very stable. Lot's of fun. Very pretty graphics that seem well programmed.

Best launch day I have seen in any recent MMO release.

This is true,  though Martial Arts has some very quick combos,  and your main ones won't be more than 4 hits.  Tap hold,  Tap tap hold,  tap tap hold hold,   and many variations in between.    Same with Hand Blasters,  but it really depends on your focus with hand blasters,  if you go healer you'll probably be doing less combos and more small shots to keep your power level up to cast heals.   That can get a little clicky.

Brawling and 2H are very simple,  I started my first character with a 2H weapon set and its very simple,  hold, hold, hold, hold.  Rinse and repeat.  Later on you'll get some more advanced combos,  but mega smash is incredibly powerful and definitely worth it in PvE,  and usually since its so powerful, whatever you're fighting will be dead with no need to repeat.

Single handed weapons are more middle ground to me then Martial Arts is,  the combos are 3 - 6 hits long, but they are very quick.  I've learned to use 1H very well and it is my second favorite set apart from Dual Pistols.

Yes a great story, powers, and you can customize your character different ways throughout playing without having to visit a tailor or costume shop.  You can keep the look you start off with or change it as you go.

Strangely this hasn't hindered the fun factor of the game, however it is at the same time a fundamental issue long term for me. There needs to be better reason for open world pvp imo, hopefully this will take place by the time I get bored with just constantly fighting. If not it will do for a quick different flavoured pvp blast.

Also just wanted to add on the multiple click combo thing, what is the problem here? It adds something a bit more interesting than pressing a single hotkey and performing the same shit as everyone else all the time. Each fight is effected by your opponents reactions in addition to wether they or you can even pull off the move being attempted. More intering hot keys for lining up your greatest dps chain.

90 percent of most mmo's is combat so yes that is what the people who like the game are talking about the most. I want an mmo for combat but the stale sit and click a hotbar button watching turn based combat happen like in wow, lotro and most other mmo's is boring. This games combat isn't boring it is fun and engaging to me.

While yes i agree it is light on content and other mmo aspects, They made a solid core game that works very well and is fun to build on. To me this is a huge positive How many mmo's that have released have had solid core game play Not many i can think of. This game Has a solid core so if they keep up on updates and fix the Chat UI stuff I see myself continuing to play the game however if they dont' meet there statment of monthly updates like they said Even those who love the game i imagine will be walking away from it for the reason of runing out of things to do.

I had mostly been playing in beta as just dps but since live i rolled a healer and did my first aleart as a healer last night It was a lot of fun i dps'd on the mob while healing it was a blast i had to fight to keep regenerating my power so i could heal. Playing a healing class has never been so engaging :)

I kinda rambled lol sorry all i can say is you either like the game or don't. I like it so i'm happy to pay for it if you don't like it don't play it that simple the game is exactly what they said it would be all along an action game that you can you play online with friends they stated no crafting and said that char creation was not as robust as other hero games but I love finding new costume pieces more than making a char at start and sticking with the same look the entire game.

I am also enjoying this game. I love the PVP servers.

I was standing on top of a building taking some screenshots...

    image

when suddenly a hero dropped out of the sky and started attacking me. I'm only level 8, the hero was level 12. He now kneels before me in defeat...

Most mmo's fail to really deliver on the IP, but i find DCUO is doing just enough to bring this world alive. The pace of the game is pitch perfect for a comicbook imo, the tone and dialogue strikes the right mixture between serious and fun, the atmosphere is cool and the presentation of overlapping pvp and pve objectives between heroes and villians offers a sense of competition andi nvolvement I havent experienced before. In short this is a title that takes the time and effort to give you more to enjoy than just those generic mmo mechanics, and offers an environment that I actually want to explore to see it rather than just to collect a badge or tick off that quest etc. Of course its not for everyone and hardcore mmo'ers probably wont find it enough, but to me there are a gazillion generic mmos of all colours, none of which feel substantially different from one another, this is one of the very few that actually delivers on taking you to the place in the title. Its still early days for me and 'great' is a big word to live upto, but as this does the very thing other mmos imo fail to do, I suspect it has a better chance of catching up in those areas everyone seems to perform.

While I'm loving the game so far unless the Devs plan on releasing updates at a feverish pace the content is going to run dry for many players very quickly, way faster than the free 30 days actually. I am in a leauge with people who are almost at lvl cap right now and the game has only been out for 3 days. That's not a good thing in my opinion no matter how the devs try to spin it.

I think that why people is saying it not worth the 15$ sub. You will do almost everything and maybe get full epic set before the 30 days is up. lol

Heya Cheyane. Thats me over at Massively, somebody mistyped my name once and i thought 'Ghostchannel' sounded like a kool name. So i used it when signin up there, its already taken here though.

The best weapon in your situation is the Rifle. Its extensive list of ranged combos basically are Hold down RMB and tap the directional keys to do four different attacks. It was my 'recuperation' weapon after Dual Wield. For the rifles hand2hand stuff I mostly used the LMB lunge which is one press. Even that is a ranged attack, so you dont get into H2H range easily. If you start with this type of weapon, you dont really get sore.

I did buy an Xbox360 controller when i got DCUO, but its not as fluid as the KB/M for camera control and spellcasting. Its great for weapon combos, but players can sneak up on me easier. And the targeting is not as good as what i could do with the KB/M. The controller support is also kinda buggy at this point. I screwed mine up and now i cant use Soder colas on the gamepad anymore. It doesnt have a reset keybind feature yet.

I feel gimped using it, in every way, except i can lay down some amazing combos now. Which in many situations, is all i need.

I read some later posts you made. Like its been said, use the rifle. The only time you really need to clickfest with that weapon is when youre fighting in PvP and cant just use the ranged alone, even then you can setup your powers to take the slack when things get hectic.

This is almost my exact impression of the game. Hell, i even play a Sorc Healer as my main. I think also its easy to gloss over the non-combat stuff like quest dialog and collection stories and replayable motion-comics and the costume reconfiguration which i love doing. Its easy to just do combat and blitz through this other stuff. After lvl capping 4 toons in beta, im taking my time, and beating the crap out of as many random villains as possible.

The game screams for openworld PvP, and i give it what it wants every night. LoL. Hope to see ya out there.

  • KexoKexo Member Posts: 84

I just played for hours doing PvP, alerts and random quests. Then theres this costume tweaking aspect of the game that I seem to spend a rediculous amount of time doing LOL.

Oh and the Watchtower, EPIC. It's like the Nexus of the DCU. My only complaint is the lack of Power Girl related materials. I em...want to "know" her better.

  • cheyanecheyane Member LegendaryPosts: 9,407

Thank you ghost . I will go rifle/sorcery or nature . It seems the best choice since I enjoy playing a healing class and looks like healing is a blast here from the description above.
