In our continuing series of articles dedicated to Guild Wars 2, MMORPG.com's Bill Murphy notices that the last few weeks have not netted fans much in the way of new information as compared to the figurative bombardment of the fall months. Bill further speculates that maybe the dearth of information just may, in fact, be the point. Check out Bill's thoughts on the matter and then add a few of your own in the comments.
As Garrett pointed out last week, it’s been a while since we got any really new information from the ArenaNet folks on their massively anticipated game. It’s as if they came out for the tour of trade shows last summer and then quietly descended back into their cave to keep making their game what their vision called for… all the while leaving us with bated breath anticipating that next nugget of info. We know that the revelation of the game’s fifth class is not far away, and while we wait for what it may be (cough, cough – Mesmer – cough) I can attest to becoming slightly disenfranchised with the whole hype wave I was already riding for a game that’s at least several seasons from being in my hands.

Everyone, just wait for the profession reveal on Wednesday 19th, or Wednesday 26th. ArenaNet revealed all their professions on Wednesdays so far. And when the next one hits, the hype cannons shall be fired, and suicidal Asura-missiles shall be launched.
2008: game was postponed for at least 3 years after the disasters of killer games AoC, War and the launch of Wotlk. Arenanet founders left the company shortly after this.
2010: no more news since the disaster of killer game FF14 and the launch of Cata. Apparently GW2 will be postponed again.
I bet you they are watching the market and if the "world" Rifts events will be meeted with how I think they will be meeted (boring) , expect an even later release to fine tune the zerg fests that always result from such world events.
Also talking about cross server PvP is one thing, implementing it is another.
They are not alone though: it is now sure TOR will not meet its earlier deadline of Mar/Apr 2011.
The worst nigthmare for EA is that free to play GW2 could launch at the same time as the subscription based TOR.
2 of the founders left ArenaNet in 2008, and they accepted positions in NCsoft West, they left the latter in 2009. The third founder, Mike O'brien, currently leads ArenaNet.
If they were actually planning to release the game in 2008 they would have released far more information back then.
And why do you insist on generalizing world events to zergfests, I remember most of the Rifters enjoyed participating in them (even though I am not one of them).
Shut up and wait. It will be awesome. If not, wait till the next, and it shall contain double the awesomeness.

An article about the fact that there isnt any news. Yeah thats really interesting.
You know it's a slow news day when.... this happens.
Doc
I actually welcome that the community is starting to soul search here... Call him what you want...
(stolen comment below is out of context, however, relevant)
The proverb, "Beware the sound of one hand clapping" means that you should be wary of any thesis without an antithesis - an idea that no one questions. As CS Lewis put it - "the most dangerous ideas in a society are not the ones that are being argued, but the ones that are assumed"
The reason for this is that, if we make a habit of taking things at face value, without tesing their validity, without questioning the logic behind them- one day, we're going to buy into something false...something dangerous. And we'll have no one to blame but ourselves.
[Mod Edit]
All we can do is sit back and speculate due to a lack of info. There is nothing wrong with William Murphy doing it as well.
^ what if you have questioned the design decisions and found them to be good? :P
Also, MMORPG.com users seem to take their genre very seriously, too seriously in fact. Gw2 is still a game
Not falling for the carrot on the stick routine.
I dont care what the next profession is, I just hope it, or the profession after it uses melee weapons. It'd be pretty stupid tohave one melee class. Then again, the first guild wars did it until the assassin and dervish came. As long as theres a fist fighting class (which there wont be im sure) this game will be perfect.
I think Anet is doing well here but we don't know for sure until we are running around Tyria for ourselves. The feedback is so resoundingly positive that we push the possibility out of our mind that GW2 could still snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Just saying in the above, i like our rare GW2 skeptics. They help balance our perspectives/expectations on the "Savior of the MMO genre"...
For a total lack of delicious updates on both TOR and GW2, I almost caved and bought DCUO...just to have something to play. Almost.
But I will persevere.
I am tired of reading another article about nothing. Everytime it's like a slap in the face. I get excited for a second from seeing the logo then disappointed from the title, and really whats the point? Is it to keep the hype up on a game that isn't providing any new info, or is it just to give you something to write about? If you're going to dangle a carrot for us, then at least let it be a carrot, and not just the prospect of being a carrot.
Have you ever heard that joke. "How do you keep an idiot in suspense?"
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
OMZG YESS!
I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them
They hit a snag somewhere. All I recall is that they had to revamp the Sylvari because they looked too much like the Avatar movie characters. Did I see a class reveal yet? I know we assumed the latest one was an Asassin. Was this confirmed?
So not all professions revealed, Sylvari appearance revamped, SW: KOTOR competition
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Afraid I am rapidly de-hyping as well for this one.
-Need moar convincing input-
My brand new bloggity blog.
They're revamping the sylvari because the fanbase thought they looked to humanoid compared to the concept art (which was much cooler), nothing to do with avatar. Have you ever seen a blu sylvari?
The next profession reveal is this month and it could be either a mesmer, the successor to the assassin or the 'Blue mace lady'/guardian class.
Must be a really slow news day for MMORPG to post this....
Actually Arenanet has anounced GW2 is almost ready for launch, they are also looking for experienced webprogrammers and animators to enforce the team for making the GW2 website, so i think the release is closer then we think. ^^

(you should try more than one source before giving up hope ^^)
Let's cut out the personal arguements and baiting guys. Thanks.
Again this guy's articles....Doesn't he know when to stop? Stop posting an article full of nothing dammit.
The biggest problem with TOR is there copying of the whole team type deal froom star trek online. The pvp is to lose based and really souds horrible mostly when were talking about there space sim. Rift does look intresting thou but they havnt told us anything about char development i miss when you could manage your own stats and get items/gear based on what you actually wanted your char to do attack speed, get a knight with a two hand sword and pump his int so if it has fire enchantment hell do more fire type damage on your chasr then normally. GW2 i really like what there talking about but they are concentrating to much on game shows and publicity right now and not on their work and what needs to be done to give us a playable game. When GW2 even comes out thou i bet thell mess up the same way all the other companies did thou and not make any commercials for it on public acess programming. Even if ff14 was poo it would have sold if childrens parents would have seen a commercial.
Also this column guy keeps brining us posts that have no merit and i kinda feel like hes personally trying to hype his personal belief on games to de-hype or hype games he likes.
