A confusing topic amongst Darkfall players, it can be difficult to pin down exactly what to expect from DF2010(2011?) expansion. Curious myself I've been digging through some of the community blog updates from a few months back.
Do add more things I've missed as long as you provide links to the information given.

isnt there also supposed to be prestige classes?
Remember Old School Ultima Online
Yes however I was only thinking things I could find the sources for, trying not to get rumours and heresay mixed up with what the developers have said. I'll add it when someone can throw up an appropiate link.
What is DF 2010 or Darkfall '2'?
a clever PR move.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

I'm sure you'll agree there is no short concise summary of what to expect from the expansion.
In my understanding, DF2010 was never meant to be a single expansion. More like a series of expansions.
Presteige classes are a definite. I saw a quote earlier so it is in yes. Will try and find the source later.
Also DX11s
The thing i think is most important is them getting a control of their retard skill system. Given past experience with destroyer and archers they hoped to use skills to limit it. Now however i think they are also looking towards armor and clothing to limit it and create diversity.
"Consider armors and clothing working to enhance certain specific abilities like for example magic, melee, archery vs. hindering or even blocking others during their use."
darkfalls skill system is a good example of how a dumb choice early on in gameplay can hinder you for years.
Greymoor and gotha have more confidence in AV then I do and I am one of the largest long term fans of DF out on the forums.
Sorry but just because AV says its coming, doesnt make it true.

darkfall problem is not really getting features out, its more weather the features they get out a pure stale pieces of crap or not.
New server with no transfers allowed ?
I know that's the only way some will go back.
It's never going to happen. Unless Darkfall gets a mass influx of new people, their will never be more servers than the two we already have. Of course this statement does not include the fact that AV might be opening an asian server.
They need to breathe life into what NPC's they do have.
The quest DING is annoying and spoils what little immersion you can get from the dark graphics.
The game has CRAZY potential if it were developed using AAA standards.
To the caterpillar it is the end of the world, to the master, it is a butterfly.
This game does have crazy potential but "AAA Standards?" AAA Standards to me means watered down generic crap.
No AAA standards are non-negotiable top of the line technological standards.
What you are experiencing is companies who advertise AAA standards that dont live up to it.
We must never allow our benchmarks to be violated by marketing campaigns.
To the caterpillar it is the end of the world, to the master, it is a butterfly.
No, AAA is just a marketing term, it means nothing more than "we spent a lot on the game and marketing".
True that. The gameplay design around DF's skill system is terrible - everyone can be a uber melee/magic/archer, all at once, the magic schools are almost the same, the weapon skills ARE all the same, progression system based around repetition... it's all bad.
The only thing you've said which is currently true in game is the progression system is repetitive at times.
You can learn all the skills but to be uber in melee / archery you sacrifce Necro/arcane/elemental magic, to be uber in magic you must wear lighter armour and have put in a lot of game hours, to be uber with archery you've got to have great aim and an expensive bow.
Wepons are all different, sure whirlwind, knockback and anti-block skills all do the same but each weapon is an entire different gaming experience in melee.
Hybrids are common but unless they are veterans or have great FPS skill they're not uber at it all.
okay. everything is a conspiracy. my bad...
To the caterpillar it is the end of the world, to the master, it is a butterfly.
Untrue. You don't need to go destroyer to be uber in melee, and you sure as hell don't need to wear light armour to be an uber mage. Most will wear a mix of infernal (plate!) armour with bone. And then there is a spell that removes the (small) encumbrance penalty that's left to nothing.
Darkfall has the most shallow, least complex class/melee/magic system design of any MMO I've played, and I've played a lot. It's more like persistent Quake than a sandbox MMO.
Merely adding the FPS element is no excuse for bad/shallow design.
destroyer makes you worse in mele, you dont have iron skin/arrow ward etc. you basically become more squishy and you only do more damage to ppl with staff out in mele. so in a sword vs sword fight you will get pwned by a guy in light armour who has buffs and ulitity spells.
My blog:
You're right, you don't need to be a destroyer to be good in Melee. It's very nice however. Yes mixing 1-2 heavy pieces with an entire set of light pieces with an expensive encumb enchant is perfectly fine, the mage risks more. And that spell lasts 3-5 seconds allowing you a heal or two max, so yeah.
It's the least complex because it allows you to potentially gain everys skill? There are specialisations, special moves, spell addons. That right there is more complex that any game with mere skill-trees that are predefined for their class.
Wrong, you won't have those self-buffs but you should have a friend there to buff you. People who have magic tend to keep their encumberance below a certain level and that involves wearing armour with lesser protections, plus the fact whenever they get a staff out you can do killer damage.
You don't need to be destroyer to be pro in melee but anyone who is serious about fighting upclose will have too much magic encumberance to be throwing damaging spells around/casting self buffs.
Don't be so naive/fanboi. There are no special moves, and the specializations they have are terrible and pointless.
It's the least complex because there is only 1-2 "classes" - hybrid and destroyer. That's it. There is more complexity in how you spec in Team Fortress 2 than there is in Darkfall.
Let me repeat: there is more specialisation and build complexity in a FPS game (TF2) than there is in Darkfall, an MMO. Class/skill caps introduce a whole new metagame/layer of tactics that doesn't exist when you can cast every spell in the game and use every weapon and every weapon attack.
There's a reason why every other MMO has either a class system or a skill-based system with caps - it's because do-it-all-be-everything is boring and incredibly grindy. and anti-social. Economy is terrible in Darkfall partly because everyone skills up their own crafting and makes their own stuff, no need for social/trade interaction.
What you say is true that you can learn everything, however you are resource constrained, thus you will be forced to specialize or at the very least go out with a limited amount of capability to do everything.
I self identify as a monkey.
Where can we see these industry guidelines required to meet AAA standards. Which industry organisation developed and enforces the use of these standards? How is this organisation funded? Is there any governmental oversight for AAA standards? Is this a nationwide or a worldwide organisation. How does this organisation enforce their standards when a company uses the AAA acronym? What does the AAA acronym stand for?
The population is already too low if you make a new Server. People will run for Days without getting a good fight But on the other hand i would probably Reactive my account if there was a Medium - high pop Server where Small Scale pvp happens. Thing is that the world is so big and the people are spread out thats why i uninscribed myself. Not getting enough small Scale pvp fight. Its either i couldnt find anybody to fight Or there was just too many people that it wasnt even fun.
