Nice of them when ones going free to play soon and the other proberbly will soon follow . Still a fool and his money are soon parted and theres proberbly a few foolish enough to take this offer up .
Foolish how? Because you don't like the games? Because you don't see it worth that much?
Its not foolish for those that play these games, and like them. Value is a relative term, and for you that means you don't like it, don't care, and thus don't see the value, but for fans and people with subs this is a great deal of value.
Please people stop attempting to make devs look like the enemy, and the players that support, and play their games enemies.
We get it you don't like the game, you don't like the devs, please move on to something you do, and let those that like it, enjoy it.

My problem with STO was that AFTER you would pay for the subscription, you would have to pay additional money to get the cool stuff, added content etc. They add a new race, and you have to pay for it, add a ship, pay for it, we have a new mission, send check or money order too... so whats the $12-$15 a month for again?
20% off a lifetime sub for a game that goes free 2 play in 2 or 3 days? They must be havin' a laugh.
I only checked the thread in case they were seling STO for 5 bucks and instead read a con advertisement.
You get lifetime VIP for Champions Online, not a bad deal at all. Once again you all fail to see that value is a relative term, you obviously don't like it so there is no value for you. But for those that like it, there is no better value.

Lifetime subscription, points every month. = Never using money again, did the same on CO and LotRO. Then I enjoy the game by not trying to rush my way to 40/??/65 and instead, can take breaks from the game and play other games, come back a few weeks later, maybe have a party have over some friends who also bought Lifetime, and game with them.
Best purchase I could ever have made.
Yeah , not a bad deal at all , except when you consider that CO goes F2P the sameday the deal is released. So really what are you paying for ? People are hilarious , if you think anything is free, especially where Cryptic is concerned . They will find a way to extract money even from the LTS. How long before STO is F2P , 6 mo ? 1 year ? It's not a question of if , just when.
With lifetime, once again you fail to read gives you lifetime VIP in the F2P version and if you look at the feature matrix, it is more then worth it for someone that enjoys the game. Please stop trolling this topic, we get it, and again we get it, you hate the game, and the company. Please move along to a game you like.

"Are they havin' a laugh?"...
Seriously...I don't have a problem with LTS. People like what people like..and they pay for it accordingly..despite the disapproval of others.
I just cannot imagine anyone being interested. I have a LTS and I know that Cryptic has failed to fix 95% of the things that are wrong with STO. And that being the case, I don't understand why they would chose to cut their revenue stream on this game again. Makes me wonder if Cryptic is about to go under financially, and they are just trying to make a quick money grab before close shop.
Cryptic are a bunch of cons, some kind of internet gaming authority should be aware of this and take action.
I enjoyed the game while I played it. I re-sub here and there and give it more of a go.
Cryptic pays a lot of attention to the player base and andjusts the game as is asked for BY THE PLAYER BASE. They do not, and should not, and will not, adjust the game based on people that do not play the game.
People that question a Pay to Play game going Free to Play while still offering Lifetime Subscriptions are simply ignorant of the details and honestly haven't done ANY reading at all into it. The amount of ignorance spewing from most people that post about STO is just simply downright amazing.
If you enjoy STO, play it, its quite a good casual MMO. If you don't, don't play it. Do you people go post on Football forums about how terrible the game is because when you played it for the first time in HS ten years ago you were picked last for a team? >.>

HAHAHAHAHAHA NO. Not even one cent more for this horrible game. Never again will I waste my money on a Cryptic game. They should burn in hell for ruining the Star Trek IP.
Can't believe there are people foolish enough to fall for this scam. The game has yet to have enough content to keep people interested for a few months let alone a lifetime.
Congratulations Star Trek Online on one year of mediocrity!
My predictions for the next year: STO goes free to play. STO gets trashed by EVE Incarna and SWTOR.
Everyone's mad in here. Been playing it since day one still.
bloop
If the foundry delivers, it will be a very enjoyable game. Then again, I actually read up on things instead of just spouting "TIHS GAME SUX!"
"for just $239.99!"
Is this serious?! Lifetime.. anyone expect to play the same game when they're 70? jezes..
Agreed....

OMG!
Is Cryptic conning people again?
What a surprise!
"Not!"
I'm playing it now with a friend (who has a lifetime sub). Even though i am having quite a bit of fun i think there is just ever so slightly to little content to justify a purchase. In my view, another 10 levels, maybe some better pvp or new zones and that would tip me over the edge to buy it.
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
I bought the game for $2.50 cents on Amazon and beat all the content with in 2 weeks. The ground combat is so horrible I felt like i should get paid to play.
Lol I hate to be negative, but I agree this company is a scam, I would never give them a single penny, to those enjoying this game , well good for you, but this is one MMO company I would love to see go under , not really for making games I dont enjoy, but for being probably one of the worse P2P companies, they really screw so many people over.
lmao oh boy a horrible horrible game is having a sale on a lifetime sub when they are doing the same deal for their other horrible game that is going free to play because it sucked ass compared to coh/cov
why would anyone shell out that much money for a lifesub to a game that is sooooooo awful....
cryptic needs to be taken out back and shot in the head

Hi Cryptic
I must admit having had the full exposure to your games. Both in CO and being a STO Lts and having seen this Dev post by accident I feel compelled to post here even though i stay out of forums. Your games where not what i expected on each occation.
I thought that Champions Online was uninspiring and repetitive but i considered it to just not be my kind of game and gave it a pass. However i did notice quite alot of drama and faulse impresions given by Cryptic to the community. I at large just ignored the forums and quit the game.
However with STO ..loving the IP i ignored my gut feeling and dove head first into the game by taking out a Lts after i bought the box. Boy should i have listened to my gut! I was greeted with a unfinished and shallow game which was light years from what Jack and that other guy said would exist on there video snipets.
I have visited the game regularly and i realy dont think it has come a long way. Sure they fixed some bugs and added some content but not much at all. The so call weekly releases are everthing but "Weekly". Many blind IP worshipers will swallow anything with a Startrek Skin on it and hence the Cryptic Shop "they realy skin them with that one". You can get a Lts but you still have to Buy stuff in the C-Store!
As far as buying a Lts for this game is conserned i would Discourage anyone from waisting your money. Unless you are a Star Trek fan who is willing to swallow everything you get fed as long as its has a Starfleet Sticker on it.
Based on my experience i would just give Cryptic a miss completely! There is over enough dissatisfied customers attached to this company to give any normal person a red flag. Just google it ... they even had to make a Dissatisfaction thread dedicated to the Disatisfaction about STO ! Hell if that does not ring a alarm bell then ...??
In my opinion... i would suggest you give it at least a month for $2.50 ...before giving them $250.
Good Luck ... !
Sorry for my spelling ...
I have to agree with all the naysayers and trolls on this one. having been a founder i had the same issues with lack of content. returned to the game briefly on a welcome back weekend only to find they had added 5 count them 5 episodes (chain quests if it were a fantasy mmo) and this combined with continual dailies and exploration missions were supposed to get you 15 levels to max level so you can do more dailies and only a couple of dungeons. and when i say a couple of dungeons i mean literally. DO NOT SPEND MONEY HERE move along. this was a huge waste of time and money.
