    1. There is now a daily upper limit for the amount of Kinah that players can earn by selling items to an NPC.

hm, don't like this much but it seems they are trying to encourage players to trade among each other more often.

    2. The Balaur will now take over Kysis Fortress in the Abyss during normal Siege times.

How are they just fixing this now?

After all of NA spammed support tickets and forum threads to fix that crap 14 months ago.

All they had to do was change the Balaur's spawnpoint to inside the Diety room since they were too fat to fit in the doorway. A few  coordinate changes server-side should be a hotfix overnight. Not a 15 month patch.

I really hope GW2 doesn't affiliate themselves with NCsoft at launch.

You DO realize this game is second in active players only to WoW, right?

Not here in the west, it is barely surviving.  Just a good example of the different tastes of different cultures.  NCSoft has basically been a major klutz adapting this game for western audiences.  Personally if they run this game in Korea like they have the westernized version, I am amazed anyone plays it, their support is one of the worst I have ever encountered included most f2p games.

So what, all MMOs are "barely surviving" except for WoW over here. I bet Aion is still easily top 3 along with EvE and obviously WoW.

WOW, you should know Arenanet is a subsidiary company of NCSoft.

Aion is actually better than most ofther mmos out there. The only one that really stands above it is World Of Warcraft

  • KilraneKilrane Member UncommonPosts: 322

Other than the fact that I played on the underdog side, and that there are pretty serious faction imbalances on just about all servers I would be playing this game.  Also, when I was playing back in Oct./Nov. were A LOT of players, even in the lower level areas.

Alas, i can only dream of a RvR game with a healthy population that isn't seriously broken in one form or another.

    Aion isn't too bad imo~

Aion has great graphics and ability moves, too much grinding tho

  • IceAgeIceAge Member EpicPosts: 3,203

Chon, when was the last time playing Aion? I assure you, that there is no more grind as it used to be. You can easly lvl now with quests and the rewards are alot better. Also, as I see in this patch, they are making it even easier

    1.  Added or changed reward items for quests and greatly increased the general rewards for quests. (Please note that players will not receive these rewards retroactively for quests they’ve already finished.)

    and

    3. Reduced difficulty of the [Elyos] Miragent Holy Templar, [Asmodian] Fenris’s Fangs quests.

    and

    6. Greatly increased loot rate of required Expert Gathering items for Aethertapping and Essencetapping.

    and

    So on..

And for the others who keep bashing Aion without even playing the game, name a better game then Aion ( beside WoW ) ! ..

I have been thinking about buying Aion.  My brother plays it and I have to admit: it is by far, the most beautiful game I've seen.

This info nudges me to it even more.

Aion is an alright game/MMO. I actually somehow found a retail key on my plaync account mysteriously and started playing the free month. Nothing that really stands out, I mean they have their flight gimmick but I played CoH so that's nothing new to me.  I've only played to level 15 but it's surprisingly solid though and the combat is quite fluid. I agree though, it is pretty damn grindy. Most MMO's are though..

I really don't suggest playing Aion or even trying it. I played it hardcore for 9 months and regret every minute of it. I hate that I knowingly supported a company as bad as NCWest. Many of my hardcore friends were banned for selling legendary balauric items. If you traded over 10mil gold you were banned for RMT. Support tickets were a 3 week procedure, and only 30% chance you were unbanned, in my personal statistics.  If you connected to your account through a different IP you were banned for account trading. If you killed someone in the abyss, and they killed you back, and you killed them back, and so on, good chance you could get banned for trading AP (abyss/pvp points). They did a good job banning bots however. Too bad the market depends on bots as farming materials takes way too long for even hardcore players. (1 grobule per mana potion, as Ranger I used 500+ daily)

The localisation team was horrific. Oh god, the voice acting. I'm usually pretty easy when it comes to English dubs, but this was terrible.... completely changed the lore. Instead of a brave martial artist battle cry I heard what sounded like my mother moaning a chant from a Harry Potter movie. I wont even get into the cutscenes.

What else uh... took me 7-8 months, 22 thousand Player kills in the abyss to finish my Abyss armor set. For a lot of people that may be a con.

The gameplay is fine. Besides the bugs and voice overs  its a great game. And hey, it will only take them 14 months to fix each bug. If you're willing to play that long semi-hardcore you could have your full Abyss set by then.

TL;DR. Gameplay is fine but company is bad. Don't find out the hard way, trust me.

An affiliate is an affiliate. Subsidiary, best friend, or just the company that supplies them napkins, they ruin Areanet's name imo.  Not that I still wont buy GW2 :P

I'll take you up on the bet, I don't know what data you are looking at, but if you look at the data from MMOChart Aion is not even in the top 10!  I played during the December period and did not see many people on.  I will have to call you on that as being nonsense unless you can provide some provable numbers.

These are estimated numbers, but the consensus is that Aion is still holding around 3 million worldwide.

Here is the site.  http://mmodata.blogspot.com/   They also give a nice explanation and what numbers they feel are accurate/innacurate.
