I cannot confirm or deny what one might have heard through the grapevine or when one puts his/her ears to the tracks.But if I had to go by the whispers of fanboys in the dark and relay this message I wish not to be named as a messenger of such information.
Through these channels one may have come to the conclusion of Masthead who may or may not be developing a game by the name of EarthRise ( again this cannot be confimed of denied). This "masthead" allegedly closed down it's servers due to giving beta keys away early. According to the crickets in the breeze servers will be down for a couple weeks. So I would assume no one knows the lowdown as of yet. Again I cannot confirm or deny this information because I simply am unaware of anything outside of what the forum NDA police will allow me to be aware of. Destroy this message after reading... Before they find out that you know!!!!

He was merely saying the beta keys went out by mistake. And that happened to be information he got from beta forum.
Did he hurt the company by it ? I dont see how.

That isn't for you to decide. By your logic, breaking the law is perfectly fine so long as you don't think it matters.
And as a pre-emptive: I'm not saying anyone broke the law, I'm making an example to help people understand the flaws of what you wrote.
Any word on when a giveaway would make its way here seems I always miss giveaways on the most obscure and unheard sites I've never heard of plus the time it takes to sign up for said site just for one key, been waiting for a couple of years now to try this and no dice would hate to pass on this game cause of the concerns I have for this game I would want to at least see if its going to be worth the mint I put down on it and make a investment in the game.
If anyone has a spare key I would really appreciate it and thank you from the kindness of my heart........(what little heart I have)

I think they are doing the give away a little different. I could be wrong.

The Rift VIP keys disappeared in under a minute. The regular keys (non-vip) took a lot longer.

So from the sound of it, Beta will begin next week? But only be a week long if they are sticking to their release date Feb. 4th.
Yet another beta hype for an unfinished game.
There has been an ongoing closed beta for several months; I don't gather how you came to your assumption above of only a week beta.

Hmm i think it would be impossible for all the rift beta keys to disappear since all the vip ones had 25 uses.... so i know for a fact there are still some.....since I have 24 uses left...Rift kinda seems like WOW to me with a few differences but is very WOWesque....not to offend WOW players WOW is a decent game I played a while.... but I hope Earthrise lives up to its promise and doesnt totally rape me like Mortal Online...I am hoping that Earthrise will be similar to SWG pre CU or some nice old UO baby Yeah!!!!! lol
