I disagree with this statement.  The 300 people that are left with Horizons are hard core fans.  They will never leave until Horizons shuts down.  Some do know that problems with Tulga games, but its just simply not elevent to them.  The population would stay pretty close to 300 probably forever.

Even some of the old timers are leaving. The new email TulgAE sent out giving a free month if they come back and pay for one month proves they are having major issues and doing everything they can to try and get more people to pay for the game. They are losing money fast and there is not going to be anyway they can save this game when they keep losing cash every month. The game is a joke.

They just gave away a bunch of free time and by this new free month proves they are in damage control.

I love how they say new invasions, they had only one last Wednesday.

Plus don't forget people they are still having double billing issues going on. After this long it can't be an accident anymore, more and more people are thinking is is deliberate just to make more money.

Also the comment - NEW! Ancient Rite of Passage for Dragons - is a lie only the first part is in. They are saying June for the final coding of it. But then again they also said it would be in back on Dec. 22nd of 2004. You can't believe anything they say in their emails anymore. Not only does DB lie but it seems like CT is too.

    Dozer,

you have you own personal opinion on Horizons, and i have mine.  it really seems you are really trying to rub your opinion to someone else.  there are people who simply like horizons because of the dragon and nothing more.  horizons does have a great community, something that alot of these big games miss.

my opinion is horizons is a promising game,  it was mismanaged and underfunded.  if Ncsoft or atari would have spent another $2 million and let it develop for another a year it would be just fine everyone here would be loving it.

I think the dragon was a great idea, i hope other game makers will consider putting dragons too in their games.  It was simply was not done right.

I had heard about Horizons from a friend you went on and on about the crafting system. (Which is very good imho)

So I thought I would pick up a copy...99 cents in the crap bin at my local EB.

$0.99 for a game where the first month is free I figure why the hell not......I signup and well to make a long story short...

There were about 100-200 people Visable on Chaos each and every time I loged in over the course of the month (Last Month so its not like things have changed drastically in the last month)

I think Horizons had alot of potential that was either not realised or just not marketed properly and and devs that seem to have reached the state where they simply dont care anymore and has reached the state its in now.

I canceled my account before my month was up, not because of bugs in the game, but because it seemed more like the community was hurting because the company running the show simply did not care anymore.

Psikorps, Can I ask why you think the company does not care?

They are still actively developing the game and adding content, still answering support tickets and even advertising what gives you the impression they don't?

This is a easy one. If they really cared about their customer base they would admit to running a game that is clearly still in early beta stage. Plus not charge 12.95 for this beta. Another thing, they would find a way to fix the billing issues once and for all. I won't even go into how they never cared how many people had to lose money just to try and keep the game afloat.  I understand many people think a company like Verio can deal with losing a million dollars (even in this day and age where a lot of companies are in trouble). But to think the landlord of AE had to take a loss because this game needed to keep running. You people need to start putting HZ into the same league as Wish and see both games have major problems. But then again at least Wish admitted it and closed the doors.

Perhaps "don't Care" is the wrong phrase, what I mean is that even though they appear to be patching the game to fix bugs and such, and advertising in a limited way, from what I have seen in reviews since its release and from what any of my friends that have played it have said.....its like everything the company does is half-hearted.

Like they will release a patch to fix several bugs, knowing full well that the bugs they addressed were of little to no importance to the majority of players, but use it as an example to show the players that they are in fact working on fixing the game.

Or that as Dozer said they feel its fine to charge the price they are for a lackluster game that they KNOW is nothing special or even finished for that matter, but feel that because they have bills to pay that the players will support them.

From the moment I logged into Horizons for the first time, and fell through the world before parts of the landscape had even finished loading, to when I had been given a plot of land from my guild and was unable to build on it as the entire guilds plots were bugged for several weeks and had not been fixed.

I just had the feeling and based on what most of the people I have talked to said and what I have read on several forums and such that their company seems to be doing just enough to keep its limited fan base (of about 500 people in the entire world) content enough to keep paying the fees.

From what I saw Horizons had some serious potential, but was simply not pushed hard enough to get everything it needed from the company producing it, I cant say if it had to do with them running themselves into the ground with their chapter 11, or if they were just planing on making a game in hopes of pulling in some cash then abandon the game take their money and run.

As it stands in my mind and the minds of many other people, Horizons, while a good game in its own right, is on its way to the grave not because of whats wrong with the game as much as whats wrong with the company running the show. Its kinda sad to, with some serious lovin Horizons would have been one hell of a game, that I would most likely still be playing.

does the 7 day trial require a credit card or no if it doesnt ill give it a spin.
  • D0ZeRD0ZeR Member Posts: 489
Yes you need a cc. Just make sure you use a card you can dispute overcharges on. They are still having issues with some people on over charging and charging before the 7 day trial is up.
