To me it looks like its running great and is a lot of fun considering the limitations of such a low level. I really am warming up to the idea of buying the game.

In the tutorial some guy was shooting down all the npcs I was going after. So I just shot him to death. Apparently that gave me a murder count or some such, boooo.

Wow, that actually looks pretty fun.
I REALLY wish they would increase the run speed by like 50% though, make it like non combat speed.

Playing: Darkfall Unholy Wars
Played: Darkfall, EVE, AoC, Ryzom, Ragnarok Online, GW2, PS2, Secret World, WOW, City Of Heroes/Villains, Champion Online.
Looks fun to me.

but the game has the same feel as Mortal Online and Darkfall, the feel of "lets hope", lets hope the devs finish it, lets hope the devs gives bug free patches, lets hope they have enough money to add good things in a decent time...
i'm on the fence for this game though... will wait a bit after release.
unlike mortal tho its look to be making progress with every patch and fixing and adding more conntent rather then breaking just about everything and fixing one thing

It looked OK at best, nothing to write home about. I still want to give the game a try though.
Looks like it could be pretty damn fun, can't wait to check it out.
My advice Dont buy before u try.
I personaly not going to buy it until i mange to try it first.
I was ultra hyped for rift till i managed to get into the beta and my mind was blown away of how worthless this game is.
They can't from the very beginning they have catered to average MMO players. Sorry to say that but they can't aim, so that's why soft lock and that's why low movement speed. I wouldn't mind that if the game actually delivered a higher level of polish and wide range of promised content.
Right now I see:
1. Empty game world with no foliage, fluff whatsoever which makes the game looks empty on the similar level to Mortal Online.
2. Rubber-banding, general lag and poor animations which almost make me feel sick.
3. General server lag seen in a promotional video, lagging unresponsive pve.
Additionally I have read on the forums that most of interesting, new content ER was supposed to deliver is not implemented yet...which means you pay 50 Euro ( lol ) for a bare skeleton of the game with a lot of polish, performance issues.
Some of your issues I don't find true.
1) The world is not empty, their are actaully a ton of mobs and foliage depending on what area your in (for example thiers no foliage in the desert for obvious reasons). I suppose I haven't explored the whole map so their could be some empty places, but from what I've seen it looks great.
2)I agree here, dysinc and FPS hicups make PvP quite frusterating in the current build. They said the new client coming out in couple of days (rumored tomorrow) will optimize the game and fix server issues so we'll see.
3) Again I agree, though I havent had a problem with PvE at all in terms of lag or unresponsivenes.
And I'm not sure what you read but all the content that they promised should be in game by launch. The only big feature that isn't is Territorial Warefare but they left that out on purpose so it isn't a land rush like DF. Oh and Vehichles won't be in at launch.

I am in the beta and the graphics are stellar. They look much better than this video. The game is a little jittery or laggy feeling. It reminds of early days in Vanguard. It doesn't have the stability and smoothness you get in most mainstream titles (LOTRO, WOW, etc). I realize it has not been launched yet but I hope this gets corrected. The sounds of the weapons are generally corny, the visually inconsistent rate of fire makes it look peculiar. I wish they just kept it as continuous fire instead of these tappy sounding spurt rifles.
I have been following Earthrise since its early development days and I really want to see it succeed but the game is schizophrenic. You have some of the best graphics around with elderly animations. The weapons look very cool but some of them may induce laughter when actually used or heard. Hopefully it will all get smoothed out.
The controls need to be more fluid, it detracts severely from the game. It is clunky going in and out of combat mode, the movement is strange. When in combat mode, I occasionally feel as though my avatar is moving erratically, as if fighting off a seizure or polio. There are many areas in which people would like to see innovation but I don't believe that the basic tried and true WASD movement of MMOs was in the top 1000 of people's list of complaints.
I am in dire need of a sci-fi MMO. I'm sick of all of these diaper bomb MMOs that keep coming out and blowing diarrhea into our pockets and faces.
I hope that Masthead succeeds. I'll probably subscribe once it has had time to mature a little.

I agree with most of the complaints with this game yet im having alot of fun despite the issues. I will be buying it for sure.

It looks a lot better on my machine than on that vid. Still, its not AoC shiny or DCUO./CO smooth. But the models look like real people unlike DF which is nice. IF they can get me a good frame rate, ill be happy. Right now my ping is too long to judge the fps.

The main problem at the minute is like most people say, the performance. PvP is actually really quite fun, and most importantly different, but as soon as that lag spike hit's, or an FPS drop decides to crop up, it kills the moment.
I certainly won't be pre-ordering, but it's a game to keep an eye on.

as everyone else said, the video was using the lowest settings, when set to all high, the graphics is pretty okay ( not the best ) but acceptable for a 2011 MMO
Yes, PvP is fun, but that is because everyone are still BR10, wait until there are people with higher BR, combat usually ends within seconds
and there isn't much to do in ER right now, except to quest, and pvp random people
but hopefully ER will become alive when the TW is implemented, but yeah, looks like most people wont buy the game yet as it is unfinished, and you will be paying $15 just to quest and gank people, which is pretty much not worthed at this time around
So What Now?
That vid dosn't look good, but its not terrible either.. Personally i think it looks better then the "stand still" combat that Masthead showed off in their beta videos earlier.. Still, it looks rather fun... But OMG, that rubberbanding is terrible and its in EVERY SINGLE video i've seen about this game.

Masthead will release a patch this week for the current beta client. This will put to test their capabilities of improving the game or not, do NOT pre-order until you get further information about the sucess or failure of this patch.
From the videos alone I've seen many places that are empty. Some areas look great with looks of scenary and stuff going on but some places look like wastelands but in perfect condition. Seems far to empty.
Several things have me disappointed but the one thing that really told me a lot about the game was the roadmap they plan. Including a graphics update a month after release. Really does tell me the game wasn't even close to release and they are in desperate need of cash to keep on going. They could turn it around but I've yet to see a decent MMO that launched like this.
