I REALLY wish they would increase the run speed by like 50% though, make it like non combat speed.
They can't from the very beginning they have catered to average MMO players. Sorry to say that but they can't aim, so that's why soft lock and that's why low movement speed. I wouldn't mind that if the game actually delivered a higher level of polish and wide range of promised content.
Right now I see:
1. Empty game world with no foliage, fluff whatsoever which makes the game looks empty on the similar level to Mortal Online.
2. Rubber-banding, general lag and poor animations which almost make me feel sick.
3. General server lag seen in a promotional video, lagging unresponsive pve.
Additionally I have read on the forums that most of interesting, new content ER was supposed to deliver is not implemented yet...which means you pay 50 Euro ( lol ) for a bare skeleton of the game with a lot of polish, performance issues.
Some of your issues I don't find true.
1) The world is not empty, their are actaully a ton of mobs and foliage depending on what area your in (for example thiers no foliage in the desert for obvious reasons). I suppose I haven't explored the whole map so their could be some empty places, but from what I've seen it looks great.
2)I agree here, dysinc and FPS hicups make PvP quite frusterating in the current build. They said the new client coming out in couple of days (rumored tomorrow) will optimize the game and fix server issues so we'll see.
3) Again I agree, though I havent had a problem with PvE at all in terms of lag or unresponsivenes.
And I'm not sure what you read but all the content that they promised should be in game by launch. The only big feature that isn't is Territorial Warefare but they left that out on purpose so it isn't a land rush like DF. Oh and Vehichles won't be in at launch.
From the videos alone I've seen many places that are empty. Some areas look great with looks of scenary and stuff going on but some places look like wastelands but in perfect condition. Seems far to empty.
Several things have me disappointed but the one thing that really told me a lot about the game was the roadmap they plan. Including a graphics update a month after release. Really does tell me the game wasn't even close to release and they are in desperate need of cash to keep on going. They could turn it around but I've yet to see a decent MMO that launched like this.
Have you forgotton how bad WoW launched? People tend to forget that, Talents weren't all complete. Only ones that were was Warlock, Paladin, and Hunter. Several area's were blue and not in game yet and when you attempted to zone to them your whole computer froze. Upon entering deadmines sometimes players in a group couldn't see each other. People forget that most games never launch smoothly, and the one every game is compared to now for it's glory, was one of the worst I experienced alongside Anarchy Online (Which just happens to be my fav all time game, and now runs flawless, aside from dated graphics).
These indie developers don't stand a chance if they are forced to provide a product to customers who expect Commercial Grade Flawless products like from Blizzard / EA / NCsoft after they have been polished for 2 years. Even they have had their majority of faults at launch like I just explained. I'm no fanboy of Earthrise, I very much HOPE it doesn't have the same fate as Tabula Rasa, I want it to work. However, people need to give it a chance, there's no need to bash a games fixable issues. Rubberbanding is server side, they will need proper hosting and a recheck into their network code, it takes time.
I hope this game succeeds, the MMO market lacks a serious amount of sci-fi, and this looks very promising to say the least.
