I have to admit this game is growing on me. Every night it's something different in-game.
Last night I quested for about 2 hours, only saw 1 rift (but it was a doozy). Tonight I was on for about 3 hours and all I could do was trip over Rifts and run into Invasion Forces! It was awesome! At one time we had almost 2 full Raid groups running around at the same time killing rifts.

Boring and generic wow clone,the combat is lame,the gameplay is made for 5 year olds,what a shame.
I just cancelled my pre-order,see you in Tera in 6 months,a real AAA MMO.
Hate to burst your bubble but the Koreans are whining about there being too many repeatable quests and basically the game is lacking in meaningful content. ( much like Aion at launch) My prediction for Tera is that it will be fun, although it willbe quite grindy in the later levels which will take them at least 6 months to sort out. Now I'm not saying it will be a bad game, I'm sure it'll be good and I'll be trying it but I suspect that in terms of polished, fleshed out 1 to max level content Rift will have trumped Tera.

Rift has made me lose sleep. I barely made it to class today. I also stopped playing DC UO completely to try this game in beta, and now I want to buy Rift and play only it. I also got all my friends to download and play it. We all love it I love both games though. I'm going to have to go back and forth.
We need to spread the word about Rift. It's incredible. There should be way more people in the beta right now than there is. People just don't want to try it because of how it looks like warhammer and stuff. People are really skeptical about this game. At least me and my friends were. My brother was especially like "omg it's just another wow clone." 2 weeks ago I hated this game and thought it was just a warhammer clone using the same game engine. I was COMPLETELY wrong. This game is huge. Trion has blown my mind and shown me that they can take the same game engine as crappy warhammer and make an amazing mmorpg out of it.
I got to level 20 and I'm running around on my horse mount in Gloamwood and Scarlet Gorge. Can't wait for release. I can see this mmorpg being one people will play for many, many years to come.
I went out to pub last night to missed chance to DL it, but stopping in tonite hopefully and since the beta has got extended - that's a full 24hr window i have to play with it.
I am kinda glad they are doing events like this though, i REALLY do not want to blitz through content and try and level a char, then ruin it for release. I see some people are playing it like a release version seeing what level they can grind to, without realising it all gets wiped and they have to do it all again from scratch. So, think i'll just explore a bit.

I was willing to give Rift a try, but I am a full-time college student and I don't have time to let my Internet connection be idle for 3.5days straight to download the 8gb client. Yes it takes that long because their patcher does NOT allow for picking up where it leaves off if you need to close it for any reason. Very sad coding for sure.
Yes it does, that is the only way I managed to download it using an Orange Dongle...
Which btw took about 3 days downloading it only a few hours a day - ergo repeated shutting down of the RIFT patcher, strange fellow.

I'm not sure how you think the patcher code allows for picking up where it left off for one thing. I also have the emails themselves from Trion tech support admitting it isn't written that way. Also not sure why you are referring to a piece of security tech, a dongle, that isn't related to game patcher code. I can only assume you're delusional this early in the morning without coffee.

Saying a game is incredible is only going to get the most harsh reviews from people because they will expect "incredible'.
But that really depends on who you are talking to.
The people who have tried this game are very divided and with good reason. Rift does what it does very well but most certainly it will not appeal to most people.
I think if people just said it was polished and very fun yet firmly planted in traditional mmo conventions it would at least allow people to warm up to the good things.
As far as people in the beta, there are quite a lot of people in this beta, especially for week days. I mean, I find it fun and I went to bed at 3am this morning.
And I DO have to work tday.

Grab a VIP key from the beta key request thread (sticky on the Rift forums here), lots of people have been posting their 25-use keys there. One of those will cover you for the final 2 events, and possibly some of this one (if you register the key quickly). Pre-ordering at this stage is only needed for headstart access and bonus goodies. There are VIP keys all over the web.

I don't know why you would say it's not polished. It's very polished. I haven't found any major bugs, some minor bugs in beta one that aren't there anymore and it runs smoothly for me pretty much all the time.
I still think they need to figure out what to do with the very first area you appear as that area "went down" differently. Now it seems they just have you run out to the tutorial area as soon as possible over going to each kiosk and learning about each class in your discipline.
The game is just about as polished as LOTRO.
Now having said that I haven't pvp'ed yet nor have I raided.
Am I saying the game is ready for gold? No. The new "join public group" feature is good but it's also a pain as it has you drop the group you were previously in. In which case you have to get back into that group or remake it.
When I think "not polished" I think glitchy, things not working correctly, textures not there, items "floating in mid air", animations locking up on the player, avatars rubber banding or suddenly are a few feet over from where they were.
Many quests either bugged or simply not finished.

Rift is a polished game. If you want to qualify it by saying "it's polished for beta" then so be it but I find just as many eccentricities in LOTRO which has been out for a few years.
