Its not about having fun. The reason for prolonging the beta is simple, ofc its only a guess but it sound, at least for me, more logical than "having so much fun":
They raised the lvl cap to 30 and they expect ppl to achieve this cap during working days. That is however fucking impossible, even if you play 6hrs/day. I managed to hit lvl24 after 2.5 days and I played a lot.
So its either you have already an old char at lvl20-25, so you have to make 5-10lvls in 3days or you have to play 10hrs/day to be able to hit 30 in this short time. And lvl30 is important for the developers, I guess, to test the content. Thats why they started this beta event, to test lvl25-30 content...or?
A far better solution for this would have been to multiply xp gain by 2 or 3. Just like the last "Warfront" beta event had almost no xp rewards for doing Warfronts and almost no items..till they fixed it after a day I guess.
Don't get me wrong, Rift has a lot of potential and its SO FAR a good game AND developers are not a bunch of ignorant morons, they read forums and listen to the community. They fixed a lot of stuff and improved the game during the beta events, however, the planing of this events is a bit off imho.
According to a post on the Rift Facebook page, Beta 5 has been extended through Saturday, January 29th at 10:00 a.m. PST. Devs indicate that it's because everyone's having so much fun.
We are having so much fun with you in Telara that we have extended the Beta 5 event through Saturday morning at 10 a.m. PST! ^Zann
Went on the Rift website and even if i pre-order, it seems i need to do it a few days before each event to be invited to that event...AARRRGH. Thats tongiht ruined!
I did the pre order yesterday and had the invite in an hour. Took 3 hours to download. Love the game so far. Can't wait to play tonight.

I dunno, I rerolled on a Euro server this beta and levelled from 1-17 in 8 hours. There were tons of invasions and rifts all day yesterday - and they are by far the fastest way to level. If you run around the map chasing rifts and invasions the levels will fly by. Questing, on the other hand, is much slower.
Also, bear in mind, your characters will not be deleted after this beta. If you have a VIP key you can keep swallowing up levels in the next 2 events. Levelling is a lot slower after 20, granted, but between this beta and the next you should have a ton of rested XP to help speed things along. There's no law that says you have to get to 30 this beta, after all.
We need to spread the word about Rift. It's incredible. There should be way more people in the beta right now than there is.
erm,
I don't know If that would be wise. Hyping a game is not a good thing. Ever.
Saying a game is incredible is only going to get the most harsh reviews from people because they will expect "incredible'.
But that really depends on who you are talking to.
The people who have tried this game are very divided and with good reason. Rift does what it does very well but most certainly it will not appeal to most people.
I think if people just said it was polished and very fun yet firmly planted in traditional mmo conventions it would at least allow people to warm up to the good things.
As far as people in the beta, there are quite a lot of people in this beta, especially for week days. I mean, I find it fun and I went to bed at 3am this morning.
And I DO have to work tday.
Thing is I dont find the game polished. For the stage its at is fine. I think the MMO community is calling this polished because we keep getting handed crap games and this is the first MMO in a long time thats has any amount of polish at all. My wife and I are taking a hard look at Rifts and we just may play this one. We are having a lot of fun.
I don't know why you would say it's not polished. It's very polished. I haven't found any major bugs, some minor bugs in beta one that aren't there anymore and it runs smoothly for me pretty much all the time.
I still think they need to figure out what to do with the very first area you appear as that area "went down" differently. Now it seems they just have you run out to the tutorial area as soon as possible over going to each kiosk and learning about each class in your discipline.
The game is just about as polished as LOTRO.
Now having said that I haven't pvp'ed yet nor have I raided.
Am I saying the game is ready for gold? No. The new "join public group" feature is good but it's also a pain as it has you drop the group you were previously in. In which case you have to get back into that group or remake it.
When I think "not polished" I think glitchy, things not working correctly, textures not there, items "floating in mid air", animations locking up on the player, avatars rubber banding or suddenly are a few feet over from where they were.
Many quests either bugged or simply not finished.
wonky interface. How about the old warhammer "capes will appear if you hid them and go to another zone".
Rift is a polished game. If you want to qualify it by saying "it's polished for beta" then so be it but I find just as many eccentricities in LOTRO which has been out for a few years.
Ya thats what I was talking about. Low amount of bugs and glitches is not polished (thats only a small part of it). We been handed to many bad MMO's over the past few years we get excited and call a game polished because its done what it should do before release. Polish is also the feeling the game has, the things you need to make it better then just done. Chat system working the way you want it right down to hyper linking items font change, color backgrounds, text size. There are some areas that need polish in the game. Like I use a non-default keyboard layout and I cant set that to account I need to change the keybindings for every char. Auto finding a public group with open space would be nice without needing to target one person after another and trying to join team after team with no space. Keyboard commands like alt + n to turn off display names. (cuts down lag with large number of PNC and players) Raid window with more functions to make healing better. Like being able to organize hp bars to look after the players you want with ease. Quest tracker needs some work as well as it does not give the info you want with mouse over or by clicking on quest objectives. When you get quests auto added to your quest log a point in its direction would be nice. My wife and I failed a quest she dumped it and I forgot to. When a rift opened up she got offered the quest again I was not. That should be fixed.
Im not being picky I am just saying a low number of bugs dose not make a polished game. We have been duped into thinking so because of all the other trash MMO's as of late. I like Rifts and will most likely buy it but it still needs a lot of work to be called polished IMO.
Awsome! I'm currently playing RIFT beta and I am really liking it. The story, the quests, the arts and game graphic, skill system, etc are all really nice. One complaint tho... there is no body sizing at character customization screen? I didn't see any. Overall, the game is fun and impressive!

I agree with you about you need more than a nice looking and bugfree game if you want to call it perfect and I dont think rift is perfect in any way.
Anyway it is by far the best what I have seen hit the market for a long time. And I hope they will continue to deliver good content and when you hit level cap there will be nice stuff to do like grouping raiding and so on.
I will play Rift from release and till I get bored with it,when the game starts to bore me depends on in what directions Trion wants to lead their game.
