Hey, as the titel says; i wonder what you guys (with beta acess, not like me ;( ) thinks of the game, compare it to other games (mayor ones mostly, Not hello kitty online etc ^^) One thing i really want to know, how is the combat? Cause i have seen some videos, which looks horrid! I mean, Zero skills (heard skills cost huge amount of currency) ? And just playing a guy standing there putting 30 mags into a guy, which finally falls to the ground? Cause id love to see a shooter mmo (with decent combat, combat is very important for me!) and the released videos make it really look horrible .
And are the quests really bad? Can it be connected to the surrounding atmosphere? That would totally give this game a bonus point ^^
Whats your thought?
Oh, if you have acess to an additional beta key, please PM me one! Id love to see how this game evolves thru beta, and giving me a chance to try it out!
Comments
^^ What he said about covers it, not ready yet but good potential in the FUTURE not now. You really should hold off.
Its hard to say how good the actual game really is because of the server lag and poor performance. The combat seems pretty good but is frustrating because of the desync.
I doubt they can fix it for release but who knows...
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
They should put this game off for another several months and do some major updating because if they release it now itll bomb.
The reason why a lot of people are complaining (a lot!) is because they do not know the concept of a REAL beta (not a marketing beta like you see so much these days), are only used to one kind of control scheme and DO NOT FOLLOW THE 9 MONTHS RULE.
Follow the 9 months rule. Wait 9 months, then check it out.
Simple as that. Never buy an mmo at launch.
And how I like the game in beta? I think it shows a lot of promise. Could use with a few weeks more work. Although after seeing the dramatic improvement after the most recent patch I'm not entirely sure of this anymore.

Dramatic improvements? I did not experience anything even close to that.
Remember most of the people here complaining were only let in after the most recent patch.
beta is 2 days from over. combat is actually worse than it looks in videos, and its really bad in those videos.
Sadly the game is far from finished, and the fact that it took them this long to get it to where it is now does not bode well for how quick they can patch in new fixes and content updates. Everything is just really clunky, and I really do not see any depth to the game at all. Its nice to see their projected road map for things that they would like to add, but sadly most of whats on there is content that should be in game at release.
My Guild Wars 2 Vids
It's so good I just deleted it off my hard drive a few minutes ago. I had to laugh though, as they can't even get that optimised. Where most games would be deleted in seconds, this one took minutes as I was forced to look at thousand of files scrolling past one at a time. This is on an I7 machine with 6GB of memory.
This game definitely ranks amongst the worst three games I've ever tested/played around launch time. The others being Dark and Light and Roma Victor. Don't let anyone kid you that this game has no worse problems than games such as WoW, AoC, WAR, AiON, PotBS or whatever suffered at launch. This game is in a different league to them when it comes to unfinished.
My prediction is that it will be dead in a matter of months. Shame but there you go, that's my opinion.
Oh well, just another couple of days until the next Rift beta when I can be reminded of what a slick new game looks like.
strangely, but it is so
geez where to startI am so confused here. Hmmm let me think for a moment hmm Oh yea Remember AO AOC by Funnycom???
Man when I got in it took me over 2 minutes. Mouse control was just friggin awful.Reading chat with a magnifying glass on my comp to see whats being sd. Lag more lag, gameplay in the short time I was in, was god awful. Character creation was a friggin joke and they want to go live real soon???? I only hope they will deside not to at least another 6 months if they do it will fail.
My i5 with 4 gigs of RAM ran it at 70+ fps consistantly HDR and Shadows off, everything full whack. Those 2 are known to be culprits of poor framerates in beta, maybe you should have actually played around with the settings before assuming your super computer can bruteforce it's way through everything.
It is far from unlikely that the game have an issue with some of his hardware or his OS. Just because a game go fine on your computer doesn't mean it is the same on someone elses, particularly before or just after a game has released.
Rift annoyingly works better on a 8800 GTX than my 480 GTX to meantion one thing, this is rather common until the game is completely optimized with all hardware.
Stuff like that get fixed eventually. It might however take some time, took AoC 9 months.
I'll put it this way. I just uninstalled Earthrise. It deleted everything but the directory tree EarthriseModelsNPCArmorsSpeedHands. There isn't a single file in that tree either.
I'm a gamer since I was 11 (now I'm 34). This is the first game I can remember where I could not get out of the starting area. Oh, and the game took like 10 minutes to load on my new machine.
The good news: if you have 10 minutes spare to look at a hot avatar in her skivvies then this game is for you.
First and foremost, control scheme. If I cant adjust the control scheme to my style of play, it's a no-go for me, and it seems that way for me. Aside from that, targeting is awefully sketchy, so both combined have me uninstalling ER right now, not to purchase.
Maybe if those things are addressed, and I get a free trial, i'll give it a shot.
I also just deleted it. I agree with every word above^
Anyone remember Auto Assault? I was in the beta, I pre- ordered it, yeah I still got it. It's sitting on my shelf collecting dust. I have learned my lesson on purchasing when a game first releases and hope the devs fix it up.
But I have been liking the Rift beta alot. I may have to pre-order.
It very much reminds me of darkfall att launch. There are big holes, alot of bugs and not much content. I did have a blast the first 6 months in darkfall though because of the City seiging and clan-warfare. Since this won't be in Earthrise for some time, I wander if there will be any more depth to the game besides doing repeatable Q's for ponts and progressing your char and THAT is not such a fun prospect for me. That is why I wont be buying ER tomorrow.
The game has potential, but I doubt if there is "enough" earthrise yet to keep the community happy.
-honest opinion

I have nothing clever to say.
I fear you are a victim of the sandbox, also about the optimisation, I am not saying they will do a good job about it, but you really can't say anything about it right now, since it is in debugmode. As my previous post stated, I won't be buying this game tomorrow, but I provided some facts to why I will not.
Your post is just full of trashtalk, trashtalk that leeds me to believe that you probably didn't own a gaming-rig at the time of those betas you clame to have participated in.

I have nothing clever to say.
The game is in fairly rough shape.
The tutorial is boring. It consists of kill five things with melee, now kill five things with shotgun, now kill 5 things with etc.
There is no crafting tutorial, at least from what I have seen.
The game is filled with bugs. One of my favorites was when I first got off the starter island onto the main island no NPC's or PC's spawned. I was in my own little world. Mobs warp, rubberband, get stuck in terrain and are unkillable because they regain health.
PvE is no challenge outside of the fact that mobs bug out. In a normal game you would die but because the game is so unchallenging, it doesn't matter that 3 mobs are attacking and bugging out.
I'm sure it will get better as time goes on. I just think its too late. They have lost too many people that might have bought the game. Earthrise will struggle just to gain enough subscribers to keep the game going.
Graphics:
People say they aren't important but that's horse crap and we all know it, the graphics are very good in ER I'd give then an 8/10.
Sound:
The music is very nice, many different and varied tracks that don't grate on the nerves. The sound affects are good but I felt there weren't enough of them (gun jamming needs sound) so 6.5/10.
Combat:
Well it works and isn't annoying but since I'm a lowbie there's not much to it. However there are a great selection of weapon types including flamethrowers and rocket launchers down to the blade glove for melee. What I appreciate is that there is no button mashing (YAY!), aslong as there's no button mashing it scores a 5 straight away. Combat is similar to TR but a bit slower, however you'll have alot more options as your char progresses. 6/10
Enviroment:
The world looks and sounds very good and varied, water needs working on as it can get funky in places but overall I really liked it 8/10.
Skill system:
Not really decided as there's alot to learn and I've barely scratched the surface, it seems to be based upon the EVE system however you earn BP (XP) by killing/questing to purchase the skill. If it works the same later as it does now 9/10.
Crafting:
Haven't tried it, at the moment you get what you need to craft by looting junk and/or reprocessing loot.
Quests:
Quests are quests what can I say? Kill this or get that, so right now 4/10.
Performance:
With shadows off I get good FPS, ping is good some days (120ms) others not so good (400ms). I seem to get alot less problems than alot of people here, there are some issues with loading textures slowly but nothing that would affect gameplay. Despite the issues this beta still beats quite a few bigger projects at launch but that doesn't mean I feel it's acceptable after 5 years of development. Some say it's in debug mode (vanguard anyone?) others it will be optimized at launch, however based on the beta it gets 5/10.
GUI:
People whine about the GUI/UI in every game no matter what, I've come to believe that 99.9% of these people are just WoW fags that get an allergic reaction when having to deal with a GUI that isn't WoW. The GUI in ER is fine and works well, I rarely have any trouble with a GUI as I seem to adapt quickly to it. 7/10.
Content:
Other than mobs/quests and crafting the game is almost devoid of anything to do, RPing will be difficult without places to hang out and relax or factions without rank, privileges or structure. No player housing or vendors or cities yet, it is launch but this is a sanbox 2/10.
Overall:
It's still beta and they've set a road map to flesh the game out with alot coming the month after launc, I think they're going to need to stick with that bugs or no bugs as people just aren't prepared to sit around and eat a shit sandwich and smile based on a developers promise ... those days are long gone.
For a beta and comparing it to other betas I've tested it gets a 6/10, for a game at launch (not that this is the full game at launch) it would be 4/10.
Bare in mind this is a review from a beta test not the final client.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

Wish I could give a good opinion about the game, unfortunate I have not bin able to play for longer then hmm maybe totaly 30-40 min. (newb zone) the preformance of the client and server are just plain bad toward my machine/connection, neither be the latest fastest but good enoug to play every single other mmo in beta or live state whitout problems.
from what I seen, looks nice, from waht I read, they barely got..well perhaps 40% of the original design ready. they gave out a roadmap for after Live development but even that does not list all game features that were on thier website for so long. its cool tho, thier game and games do chance during active development but still a disapointment.
so for now it will be a game for a few to play or rather test as nearly nothing is tested in depth (see beta forums) . very indy for the fan game.
Wish them goodluck (players and devs)
whats clunky ? i dont find it clunky just a few issues
actually this game is fun...yeahhhhh
bleehhhh....
Dire.
