keep in mind that it has just been released so of course a lot of people are trying it out. the big test will be whether this game will be able to retain the majority of it's player base for any lenght of time.
i actually think this game has made too easy to level. it's been out for 4 days and i'v already herd of people getting to end level. some guild mates are already in the 40s. i hope to god they have a very deep end game ready because people are getting there very very fast.
PS; about the levelling thing, i dont think they wiped the servers from Open beta so maybe that why some people are already at end level.
They didn't wipe BETA characters. That's why there are people already hiting max level.
I love the asian art style. It feels like a breath of fresh air. Especially the women. Western studios try to make the women as unatractive and a-sexual as they can. I wonder if it's a cultural thing or a religion thing.
What does westernization even mean besides translating? Making everything easier?
Putting on more clothes on the hoho's ingame as to not offend the prudes and sticks in the mud we have over here.
LOL! Has nothing to do witht the prudes or sticks in the mud. If you get your rocks off looking at pixel panties, guy...knock yourself out. What is bad is that the running animations of females stick their asses in the air so that all you get is panty shots. Like I said if that floats your boat. Knock youself out...but most...its just stupid silly. Same goes for a lot of the armor. One girl I saw was wearing ankle strap pumps. Really! That may go big in Asian games, but not here.
Every weapon in Asian games is the size of a frikking tree. I guess they feel the need to over compentsate. Weapons in Asian games are all like that...and too many gamers in the west and EU ---- it is - yep - you guessed it...stupid silly. It maybe fine for console games...but this is an MMORPG. Most people in the west and Europe play these games for more than just hack and slash...they like the immersion factor. Giving a danty little girl, wearing a frilly maids outfit, a big sword twice her height and width, really does break the immersion most gamers are looking for.
It's a game and I don't take it seriously.
If a well designed game wants to have its heroine(-s) in sexy outfits then golly, it's as much the developers' rights as it is ours if we want to consume whatever it is they're serving.
I don't see where all the outrage is coming from. Is TERA the first? The last?
Have you seen the fugly panty bearing elf in Rift? Shyla whatsherface. And the asscheeks bearing armor for the females?
Only because it's "Western" people are gobbling that shiz up.
Just l-o-l. GTFO and be outraged elsewhere.
If you want to play Nuns-online you can go knock yourself out too ...off your high horse that is.

Trying to enforce puritanical dress standards on women is a form of control. The worst offender ever in MMOs is LotrO.
Some Asian games go too far in the other direction, but to be honest, if forced into one extreme or the other, I'd prefer more revealing outfits vs. the bundled up approach.
Unless it has changed, LotRO didn't offer any female armor that even showed any leg. If the outfit was a skirt or dress, they would always be wearing wool leggings. Argue lore all you want, but I found it ridiculous.
Too bad there aren't more titles with some middle ground. Allow reskinning of armor eg. Aion and armor models for females that range from modest to revealing.

Well you know a lot of people seem to get offended at the Asian art style in the games, I have seen so many posts in the past on Lineage 2 females and why they should be covered up. Sure some kids may get their kicks off seeing some pixelated female toon, but I think for the majority of gamers it's an appreciation of the art style. Being an artist myself I really can appreciate the beauty in both the male and female figures. Xasapis said it well "I love the asian art style. It feels like a breath of fresh air".
I personally play male and female toons in mmorpgs and I find the western models unattractive and unimaginative and actually pretty bland.
I think the "making it easier" part is done because, excuse my stereotyping, NA gamers are less patient. I think they might want to show us more game potentials earlier on rather than after weeks, months of grinding. However according to previous comments, it seems the leveling curve for Tera is not steep at all as many people are already hitting close to cap.
In terms of translations, I think they MIGHT have to change the lore to appeal more to NA audiences, I can see that taking a bit of time as well.
A problem with the diffrent culture between Asia and NA/EU is that here in the west, we do not equate difficulty or skill to time required to advance. Making a game take forever to progress to endgame is never considerd a form of difficulty. A lot of people enjoy playing with maxed out charcters, with eachother, as the character you play with and against are as strong as possible and thus a bit more challanging to master, having all the skills availible an all.
Yes ou could call it impatience, however asian games typicall cross the line in terms of too much time required to experience the game as a whole. There is a fine line between proper progression and boredom, and if the mechanics become stale and boring during this trip to endgame, it starts to feel grindy, which is why a lot of games that do extremely well in Asia, tent to flop here in NA/EU land.
A lot of people were turned off by Aions promise to cater to this audience, as that game felt like any typical F2P game out of korea, howevr it was far more polished and well done than the typical korean f2p. As such a lot of people are just going to wait on this game.
People are also waiting to see how the goldfarmer/bot crowd in this game is. Yes it does happen in every game, however in western games, typicall its not as in your face and as much as an issue to your gaming experience, as it is in most korean made games. This is another major turnoff with most korean games. The gold farmers and bots are so in your face you feel that you almost need them to compete. This also highlights the feeling that if there are that many computer bots playing, that the content itself is boring enough to warrent their use. I cant think of a single time i actually saw botting in WoW,WAR,AOC,EQ2 ect, where it was clear as day in Aion and every other f2p game out of korea.
Other than reputation, being a made in korea product, the game does look fantastic, but have been burned too many times by products out of this country, as many have. So im going to wait and see how this one goes before even looking to try and possibly get into it.
Agree, even tho I'm asian myself (live in Australia tho :P)
I much rather a game difficult as in difficulity in finishing content, its about quality not quantity.
How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW? As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.

I agree,id rather have 4 or 5 FFXI or Lineage 2 quests instead of 67 wow quest each level.
The art is lovely .I love manhwas and mangas and love watching anime and I love this art. I can understand why people get offended but it is a different form of art which seems to rub Westerners wrong. Although the way the girl hunches over is a bit on the odd part but I would not condemn a game based on this alone.
Cultural differences aside games should be judged on things other than the art .As a gamer you should be concerned about the gameplay and systems in the game. The art is merely window dressing which is surely not an issue if the game has good gameplay
