Interesting reply considering you aren't playing the game. I suppose second-hand reports are just as good though.
No I cannot tell you if it has improved or not, it depends on what criteria you are looking for? Are their improvements, sure. Are there areas where it hasn't improved, absoutely.
There are still lag, desynch and performance issues if that is what you are asking about. You might want to wait more than 3 days after CBT ended to see if the game has an overall improvement. Just saying.
Yes, it depends what improvements you are looking for. If you want high fps and no lag, wait until March.
Release version is much better than beta - less lag, stable servers, some new game features like banks, but more improvements are needed like better fps.
There are lots of improvements. Sure, it's got its problems, fps spikes and lag amongst them, but keep in mind that no MMO has an entirely smooth release. Truth is the game is stable, i haven't experienced anything actually game-breaking. The most important thing for me however, is that the devs are very actively listening to feedback provided by the subscribers and are working on major improvements planned for the coming month. Provided that it comes with a month free game time, i actually believe that ER will only get better and better.
The beta was better. I've 7-10 FPS with my double ATI 5870 HD and 8g of ram.
Still no ways to change the controls.

No way to customize the chat which becomes extremely hard to read in 1900x1200 colour red.
The game seems to be running on the beta server, not on the new one we were hopping for.
Crafting will remain broken until all other problems are solved, I notified that resources can at the moment only be accquired by loot, but too many other problems prevent you from even thinking to craft something.
All missions are sponsorized by Fedex, however sometimes we don't have a clue about where the mobs we have to kill are. If the chat wasn't that hard to read, we could use it to ask for help.
Pings are really post apocalyptical
But still, I think I will love that game, I love the universe, the sandbox feeling.. I'm sad to say however that I didn't even try to log into the game today. It's just unplayable on my side, the more I'll try to play the more disgussed I"ll get. I don't want to ragequit
People focus on the technical issues. My problem is with the game play and for me that was severely lacking. Sure it has potential but currently it really is focused on grinding mobs. That's how you get points to spend on skills. Grinding mobs and the whole combat experience is really not rewarding in the slightest (to me). It's is not really about skill (it's about gear) and there really are little (no) strategy or tactics involved. Best thing to do is find slow mobs with no ranged attack and run backwards in circles whilst shooting. Oh and it feels disconnected as hell, its like guiding a drunk elephant on ice skates home from the pub. Maybe in 6 moths or so.
This..but give it 12 months instead, there is alot of things to do still in all areas of the game...like in any early to medium version of any game in beta stage imo.
I don't honestly know how anyone can claim the game is remotely anywhere near stable. The servers and zones are up and down like frikking yo-yos. Maybe if you catch the game at its lowest ebb of population you might have an hour or two of the game (assuming you relog now and then to clear the desync) but come evening EU, and worse still evening US time the server gets screwed up. Oh, and no-one mentioned the server 'full' messages yet?
Slightly better than it was, but far and away from being a remotely enjoyable experience. Hope they *can* actually resolve the issues within a reasonable timeframe. Someone mentioned a trace route to the servers showed they *were not* on the east coast as promised... not sure wtf is going on there, but may explain some of the horrific lag.
I'd give it 1 year as well, the Beta weeks ago was the 1st Aplha stage state, and this is actually Close Beta, wait for it, this game will be good, but not now, perhaps months after the territorial warfare is implemented, then it should be good!
i am playing the game and have been since it came out....i can honestly say this game is in no way ready for release...even with lag and perfomance aside..its in a awful state.i like the sand box game play, and the level system is really really well done.but come on...they chunked this out way earlier then they wanted to...its still beta..and im assuming they ran out of cash.
Not much improvement from beta to live...but did anyone really think there would be. Masthead don't have a big enough team to push all the fixes through that quickly.
I'm interested in how closely they can adhere to their roadmap. If by April they have put in all they've promised and added a bit of spit and polish I'd be willing to give them some more money.

No, give it six months then check it out again.

State of the game : the game is in a state.
Couldn't resist.
