SOFIA, BULGARIA - Jan. 25, 2010 - Masthead Studios, a leading independent developer of MMOs, today unveiled the development roadmap for the highly anticipated MMORPG Earthrise (www.play-earthrise.com) that will be released on Feb. 4.
Top Earthrise features included at launch:

A unique post-apocalyptic setting where the cloned remnants of mankind battle to survive and rebuild.
*
Highly customizable characters with over 100 different skills, abilities and tactics.
*
No artificial imposed "class" restrictions.
*
Fast-paced, action-packed combat featuring dynamic targeting, adaptive power armor and hundreds of high-tech weapons.
*
Sophisticated player-versus-player (PvP) mechanics that let players fight for the established order, join the revolutionary underground, or carve their own bloody path as an independent criminal.
*
Character progression that keeps players advancing in their development with no limits.
*
An advanced market-based economy with in-game supply and demand based on player activities and interactions.
*
Deep crafting mechanics that enable players to design and manufacture unique items from blueprints and raw resources.
Features to be released after launch:
Along with enhanced main game features, the Earthrise team will provide constant updates after release including new quests, new overall game content, bug fixing and server balance several times each month.
February 2011
*
Exploration rewards - Players will be able to salvage materials and use them for crafting or personal advantage, adding increased benefits from exploration and practical knowledge of the world. Currently, crafting materials drop from loot.
March 2011
*
Siege territories will open for conquest - The development team would like to allow players to grow their characters and get a foothold in the hostile world of Enterra before the territory conquest opens. This will give guilds more of an opportunity to organize their members in preparation for the day when everyone will rush to fight for control of the conquest territories that cover more than half of the Earthrise map.
*
Additional combat skills and tactics - Although there are currently more than 250 combat abilities in Earthrise, the development team plans to continue to add new possibilities for character development.
*
Added crafting blueprints - While the current crafting system of Earthrise features many options, the development team plans to add new opportunities and additional blueprints for the customization of craftable items.
April 2011
*
Vehicles - Personalized player-crafted vehicles will be added.
Later in 2011
*
Monster mines - Resource mines that are patrolled by monsters will be scattered around the world. When players free those mines, their resources will be available on the market.
Known issues in the current build which will be fixed following launch:
March 2011
*
Graphics engine update - Rendering improvements of the Earthrise engine will be made, including higher FPS, better client performance and improved shadow effects.

If you would've followed the game for the last three years actually, then you'd know that all this information is worth exactly NOTHING.
Masthead is allways great at promising something or telling you about what they have in mind, but they simply don't deliver as told or promised.
Oh really?
Of the 8 features promised at launch they have delivered 8.

That might be so, but that still doesn't excuse or justify the almost alpha state of the game.
I missed that, but I don't feel misleaded when purchasing the game. Yes, there are some issues just like most MMOs when they launch, but as long as the game is fun and the core mechanics are fun I don't mind.
Hey, you can say that to every MMO company, that they dont deliever as they say, same exact shit happend with Darkfall, but you know what that game is fucking awsome and unique. I love it, but sadly its mainly a grind now, i mean its fun, and i do go back to it now and then, but honestly, no game is guna come out a master peice within the first month of release, and have you ever thought, that they had to release the game because they need an income to support the development of the game, because well eventually MS is guna need some income from the game, so they had to release what they had. So why not just keep supporting the game, cuz Earthrise has a good setting for there game to grow. Hell for all we know it could end up to be the next closest thing to old SWG (Rest in peace xD).
The problem i see comparing it to SWG pre-cu is that, it doesn't have that feeling of a full and complete world to play in. ER just throws you into basicly nothing and says here you go, do something. I'm all for sandbox but by them not starting you out in a controlled city where you can get your feet wet and explore outwards from there makes the game seem like it's being played backwords. Now, can it become a better game, yes it can, but it will need a much better mapping system and adding many more things to make the game world feel alive.
I feel you. It is a sandbox and well SWG wasnt a sandbox. So yes they are diffrent, obviously. But Earthrise has a chance of attracting people that were vets of SWG. And in all my research, MS is looking alot like AV (The makers of DF) they both had been working on there MMO for a long time 5+ years, and they both released there games half-ass. But hey if the company is anything like AV, they will do good. Earthrise doesnt only have a chance to be a good game, it just needs to be polished to be a good game, and to make it an outstanding game they need to add more to it.
Uhmm, since when was Pre-CU SWG not sandbox...?
Either you don't know the definition of sandbox, or didn't even play pre-cu. Which is it?
As is, the game right now is not a sandbox style of game. The graphical glitches are seizure inducing and will definitely give you a headache. The PVP is hilariously stupid. You bunny hop around while holding down right click to hit a small hitbox. The hitbox isn't even the avatar body, its by the neck area, hit anything else like the arm or leg or chest and its a missed shot. Where is the skill based gaming in this? I was thinking first person shooter but I guess not. There's invisible mobs too. BTW your all still on the beta servers.
Biggest waste of $50 bucks ever. I hope you all enjoy it but I won't be paying a sub for beta testing. Call it a donation, the $50. Lesson learned for me.
Oh yeah, don't say anything bad about the game in the chat either, You'll get cussed out and get called derogatory names by the channel bigots. You cant reason with them, They just say the same thing over and over and over.
How exactly is it not a sandbox game?
No sand in the box?
Do you know what a sandbox game is?
Currently theres two things to do, kill mobs and kill players, nodes arnt even implemented yet so you cant gather mats to craft.
What really bugs me though, are those graphical glitches. They just hurt my eyes and arrgh!!!!! Run around with randomly appearing spots all over the screen, its just a headache, even standing still will randomly flash spots on your screen in some areas and DO NOT look at the trees! Some trees are just flashing lights. The textures change colors at a extremly fast pace and really hurt the eyes.
This needs to be fixed first before they implement anything else.
I mean, I tried it and I didn't like it. If you like it, more power to you but this isn't what I thought the game would be like. I thought the game had more of the tabula rasa hitbox style going on, where you hit the mobs or players in certain areas, like the head, and do extra damage or crit and when you hit them in other areas, like the leg or hand, you do reduced damage but I guess I was wrong.
You know what other game had amazing promise but was totally killed by game-engine problems? Vanguard. The game was unplayable due to FPS and hitching and hiccups. It never recovered.
Yea I'll wait for Hellgate Resurrection to come out for NA
Maybe they should have like, you know, planned to fix some of those things BEFORE asking people to pay for their broken game.
