Terrible communication

When I first heard about this game I was thrilled, I had been waiting for another decent sci-fi mmo for years.

So I and a few friends registred on the site in hope of being invited to the beta. This was months ago, when there was not much to be found about what the game would be like.

In the mean time, I tried a few other games, and after all this is not the only noticable game in Q1 2011.  At some time I saw a few screenshots here, and we discussed them, but after all there was still not much known.

Just yesterday we talked about the game again and someone said there was a site where they gave away tons of beta-key. I didn't know what to think, after all I hadn't even heard there was a semi-public beta going on.

Today I checked the page again and I saw that the game was even on pre-order. THEN I saw in the forums (not on the page!) a thread about the "Upcoming release tomorrow" from the 4th. Just to make it clear, it SEEMS to me the game was actualy released, but I only know this because I know that it was SUPPOSED to be released two days ago.

And they didn't even notify me about any of this, even though I registred on the page very early on. And I can't even complain on their forum, because I have not bought the game. I can't even register on the site, because it gives a 404 error when I try.

I'm sure the "hardcore"-fans who have followed the forums knew all this, but I'm still disappointed by the poor communication with the fans.

Now, obviously I won't just buy the game from a company that ignores me like that, just to find out if it is any good. Most likely I'll wait until there is a trial available in a few month/years. Maybe I'm through with Rift by then, and haven't switchtd to TERA yet. Or somthing like that.

yea communication is bad, but only becuase their product is unfinished thats why they didnt bother advertising it, they are aiming at hardcore fans and unsuspecting buyers, atleast thats what they are getting now.  i followed ER every couple of days and got into beta for only 4 days

Why do you spend so much time thrashing this game?

Still mad you got banned for trolling?

I guess they just didn't have enough in their budget for a big media hype machine like say Funcom or Blizzard, but you're here now and it's not like you really missed out on much. When I first played EVE it had been out a while but most hadn't even heard of it, the game wasn't in a good state at launch and after the debacle with the publisher CCP couldn't afford to advertise.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

Are you high Agri? Eve's launch had one rollback... and that was pretty much it for 'issues'. Earthrise at the moment is just barely playable, assuming the servers are actually up, assuming you can actually log in if they are up, assuming the zone you logged off in is actually up, assuming the zone you are in actually *stays* up for a decent length of time. It is at the stage where I'll just not bother logging in for a few weeks and if no improvement is made I'll not look back at it, *ever*. People can put up with a lot of crap if they think the payoff will be worthwhile, but I'm just not seeing it.

Man, you really are pathetic. You spend so much time bashing the game and desperately trying to work ppl up against it, it's almost like that's your only purpose in life. You getting paid to do it?

  • potapithikospotapithikos Member Posts: 178

The game is doing a fine job on it's own to work people up against it.

Paying someone else to do this would be twice the waste than say....... spending 50 euros to buy Eartrise.

The OP was commenting on the lack of publicity not the state at launch and that was what I was responding to.
