I remember watching that crap when I was a kid.  After about the age of 12, I stopped.

All it is is a sports-opera.  It's a soap opera with athletic crap thrown in to appeal to guys.  I doubt they ever bill themselves as being "the most real entertainment ever".  I'm sure their fans know it's scripted and they're just fine with that.  They're raking in millions of dollars and filling up venues where ever they go.  The must be doing something right.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

why are people so involved in soaps football ect? because its entertainment. why so critical of what entertains people? differant strokes for differant folks. i watch very rarely just to see what the story is. its a soap for men and alot of women also.

the story lines and what not are fake but broken necks bones are real.

The interesting statistics is that 40% of WWE fans are women.

I watch WWE because I know its scripted. I know Television is 99% fake such as Reality TV being the most fake thing ever. At least in WWE you know instantly its only about "Sports Entertainment" and storylines between characters vs being told that Reality TV is real and having the media bombard people about how "Real" those shows tends to be.

Of course, I will tell you all something very interesting.

Last October I said "Green Bay Packers" are going to Win the superbowl because the whole team showed up on October 25th 2010 to Monday Night Raw and had a "scripted" exchange between "The Miz" and others. I started making bets everywhere and documented those bets over a three month period. People called me some "Conspiracy theorist" considering most watch the teams with the greatest rivalries (entertainment potential) and thanks to reality TV allowing ANYTHING to be staged from game shows to talk shows to even the News are possibilities and you never would truly know.

Now that Green Bay won the Superbowl and analyzing the way the season went from the Junction of that October 25th 2010 Monday Night RAW episode and the way this season was for football as a league itself which was the strangest season ever, I can now officially say that Football is scripted too.

I could tell that it was going to happen. I am no psychic but scripted storylines and rivalries are the main reason people watch sports in the United States, not for actually playing to the rules. Now I've gotten nothing but "Apology" emails from tons of people on that list and phone calls.....with people trying to "go back on their bets." Now I've convinced many on how "Professional Sports" truly work in the United States...that after today I have promised myself to no longer watch a single football game again.

All because of that little WWE and NFL feud.....The Europeans were right. At least their version of Foorball (Soccer) is boring as hell to the point you know its a Real Sport and not a place where Drama occurs every moment of the game.

While the stories are scripted and the moves are practiced they still can be very damaging if not done correctly and lets face it you gotta be pretty athletic to pull off a lot of the things they are doing.

people love watching crazy drama stuff, wrestling has all that in it, drama, bad acting, violence, people actually getting hurt etc.

  • It's not my thing but I understand the appeal. It's drama/comedy performed live on a weekly basis. At this point no one but little kids believes it's all happening in reality. But even knowing the stories are scripted it has appeal; I think wrestling fans get the same thing out of it that I do watching acrobats perform live. You know everything they're doing is planned and scripted, but that doesn't make it less impressive when they walk a tight rope, or those Mexican guys with the masks do their insane flips off the ropes.

Also you never know when something horrible is actually going to happen. Go to youtube and search for Sid Vicious breaks his leg. Imagine watching that live in an arena. Eeww. I don't follow wrestling and even I've heard about that one a few too many times.

Do people seriously think boxing and mmo isn't fixed? Seriously?

Wrestling is entertainment, plain and simple. You take a good guy and a bad guy and make the audience go for one ove rthe other, so what if they decide the outcome backstage, if it's done right there is more emotion involved with WWE than in boxing and mmo as you feel you know the character more.

Also I remember reading a ex-mafia book where one of the interviewees said that anyone who still believes that a sport that can be fixed isn't fixed is an idiot, and I believe him. I remember being in a bookies a few years back and watched a man put roughly 6k on an English soccer result ending 4-4 (which is practically unheard of) and thinking to myself 'what an idiot'. No prizes for guessing the final score in that match

Sure, it's fake, and sure I don't care if it's is or not.

All I want, is for Alex Riley and Michael Cole to stop fondling The Miz's manjewels. It's getting old.

I like how most of the world hates on Americans because we all think we're better than everyone else. Grow up, no one is perfect.

lol I completely agree.  Anyways of course it's fake, but I love it and watch it all.   wwe, tna, japanese puroreso, mexican lucha libre.  Hell me and a buddy even make a monthly trip an hour away to see some live indy stuff, totally bush league but so much fun.  It's like my old roommate used to watch daytime soaps yet wonder why I liked wrestling.  I would tell her that it's basically the same thing, except with moonsaults and suplexes lol.

Basically WWE just entertains people from the opening music form the way the wrestler goes down the aisle and do his pre fight routine. Not becuase they have a brutal fight, but the they way act as if every hit  was very painful to them. Of you want to watch a "real" fight, then better watch UFC. But if you just want pure entertainment high flying stunts, confrontations and stuffs like that it;s gotta be WWE.

When Ted Turner first bought the WCW he ran into Vince McMahon Jr at some conference and told him, "Well Vince, I finally got into the wrestling business!" To which Vince McMahon replied, "Thats nice Ted, I'm in the entertainment business." That little exchange sums up exactly what Pro Wrestling is. It's entertainment... Period.

But the funny part there is that even the people know that the whole show is scripted, they still want to be part of the atmosphere. The high-flying stunts, the finishing moves, the way every wrestler comes down the aisle while his opening theme is playing, and even the huge amount of "blood" that comes from their faces. The unique storyline that makes your favorite wrestler the man of the hour, or sometimes makes him the villain. The championship matches, tag team matches and the awesome events that they invented to make the fans expecting something new from them every time that there is a pay per view. This is all part of the show and even though it’s fake you still can't deny the joy and the excitement it brings to its fans all around the world. So to everyone who says that this show is nothing, think again, you might just became a fan of this show when you where just a kid.

Real or fake, they are racking up millions of dollars with these acts that they tirelessly do. All tha matches that they do , the different arenas  they use for the big fights certainly it is not about how real it is but how appealing and how exciting these is for their fans.

WWE is not real and I know this because:

    1. How come they bleed when hit with a bit of steel... It isn’t sharp or nothing.

    2.  Triple H puts hands over a sledgehammer when using it.

    3.  Vince McMahon in a limo exploding, anyone would die, even if you were superman. What I am trying to say is that yeah it’s fake, but they make it seem realistic to kids. By the way... the bleeding is done by capsules. They put ones on a chair when they hit them so it explodes over their head. But the chairs are real. They hit them in a certain spot where they can’t get seriously hurt.

How do you know that it was fake? how you seen it with your own eyes? Where youn there wtahcing live, sitting at the front seats during a pay per view?

    just like porn haha

well in the DVD interviews the wrestlers also admit that everything is scripted... except for the injuries and deaths...

btw is mexican wrestling also scripted?

  • emcdaffemcdaff Member Posts: 9

Even if the viewers knew that everything is sripted, they still enjoyed watching it because of the overall entertainment it brings. They have a complete package, music, matches, the divas, the whole story itself, the finishing moves etc. Basically those are the essential things you need to create an entertaining and exciting show that everybody will enjoy. Still even if it is fake, you still need to appreciate the fact the it has been part of our lives.

Almost everone during their childhood days where hooked up in WWE, everytime we watched it we saw different moves from yesterday, an new wrestler emerges and became an instatnt choice to became the star of the night. The historic era where hogan reigned for a long period of time, that made avery american inspired on every move that her made until he unleashes his signature move, the leg drop. As time goes by, we learn that everything that we watched are all scripted, but still we enjoy evrysingle minute we watch the wwe.

  • Man1acMan1ac Member Posts: 1,428

Ofc it's not real lol. However ya, they can get hurt but they're very godo at what they do, so if you wanna watch the WWE like how some people watch NASCAR for the crashes, you're wasting your time. The wrestlers are very well trained and hardly ever make mistakes and really get hurt.

Tbh I think being older now it looks like a loads of crap and I can't believe thousands of all these adults go to watch this shit. Maybe 10 years ago when it was actually good, Rock, Stonecold etc yea, but nowadays...bleh image

I voted real just because it's a stupid question to ask and I wanted to be a smart ass.

I watched WWE for about a year when I was a Freshman in High School...now I pretty much just watch UFC.

    ps. boxing sucks

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

  • Hawks5Hawks5 Member Posts: 2

Yeah they are not true in terms of wrestling but there are just actors and actress that wants to entertain the audience or should I say children. WWE for my opinion wants to attract kid and maybe some adult that wants some crazy thing to watch.

In what context? Generally? Current state of boxing? I mean it used to be absolutely brilliant.

WWE is awesome again now that The Rock is back.  The wrestling is partly fake (punches are fake...I mean...thats why they stomp the ground when they do)

Umm...But the main reason I watch it is for the promos and trash talking and stuff like that.

I havent watched WWE in a few years actually.  When they made the whole child friendly thing, it became pretty bad.  But before there were some really wild things like bodyslamming someone into thumb tacks, whacking with baseball bats, tossing people off 20ish ft ladders, etc..

Now its just like...meh....but The Rock is back so his trash talking is great @_@ and I think theyre going back to the old style where its more entertaining to the older audiences
