Yep, but I was unwilling to stay on the phone for hours to get it fixed and they would never respond to my emails, so NCSoft is now on my banned game list.  The bastards will never get another dime from me.

    1. Their number is for billing only

    2. You must have the wrong e-mail because everytime I e-mail I get a response.

Wizard 101, because I bought most of the content with crowns, so I can play it forever free  : )  Although I have been thinking about trying Champions Online again once it goes free to play.  Other than that and it's very part time, I have taken more time to enjoy my real life and not my MMO addiction.  I have been doing the Rift beta events, which have become regular gaming weekend marathons, hehe.

Strange, I had no problem dealing with them through e-mail to get my account unbanned (they thought it was hacked because I recovered my password to play GW for 2 days and quit again). I even had a correspondence with them on Christmas Day with only 15 minutes turnaround time on my emails.

  • SolestranSolestran Member Posts: 342

After 3 seperate attempts by email, i had no further desire to deal with them and to be honest, the whole banning before researching and discussing it with the customer first is beyond bullshit.  As a result, I had wasted half a month of my subscription after just buying the expansion pack to City of Heroes and that pissed me off even more.  It's bad enough they assume guilt first, but they steal your money on top of it.

Do you honestly think it makes since to call thousands of players before banning them? Where is the logic in your head man? Plus they are not assuming your guilty..they are banning account that are suspect. All you have to do is email once and your account is back. What e-mail are you using to reach them...cause its funny that I had no problems.

Your NCsoft account is easily hacked because none of you probably made a customer service account. Anyone can find your account name and then create a support account to ask for all of your passwords, or to even change them. It has happened to me and I got it all straightened out. Now I do not have any two accounts with the same password or user name.

To say banning is a scheme for NCsoft to make more money is just insane.

That is kind of funny. I have had a WoW account since 2004 closed beta. It has never been hacked. Why then was my Guildwars account "hacked" even though nothing was taken from any of my characters when I could get back in? Pfft.

Also funny, I've had my Guild Wars account since 2005 and it's never been hacked, but my WoW account was nailed twice within six months of the forced move to BattleNet.  Even funnier, the second time was after I was unsubscribed for three months (after the last episode), had a new computer, and had never so much as visited the WoW website nor considered reinstalling the client.  All "Blizzard" mail was being instantly relegated to the spam can for my email account so the only way I knew what had happened was from receiving a panicky message from a former guildy, inquiring as to why I had cleaned out the guild bank.

Despite all the rhetoric, I've had a much happier experience with NCSoft than Blizzard.  And a less expensive one too.

This is my position, too.  I discovered yesterday that my dormant account had been banned due to the spammers cracking the password.  I need something to do until Rift releases, so I've considered Aion but.. eh.. it was a boring game and I have LoTRO and EQ2 Extended, so I dunno.  Probably won't pick up Aion again.

AionSource - wasn't it? I think it was them - had their database cracked awhile back.  If you used the same password on the fan sites that you used in Aion then that's one potential vector that was used to gain access to your account.  NC Soft has pretty weak security though, so who knows.

The really cute thing is that my WoW account has been cracked as well.  I went through the account recovery feature and discovered that the "Security question" is now written completely in Chinese.  That old WoW account is gone now unless I can find the old CD key, which I can't.  Heh.

At least I could recover one of the two accounts back.

Update. NCsoft fully reinstated my account after I was able to find some additional billing details. Turns out there was a level 50 toon on the account. Obviously not my own.

  • QuasiRainQuasiRain Member Posts: 125

Wait... so they ban people for seemingly nothing? I guess you may have accidentally bought a hacked item, but still, ban? Don't they even check if the trade was fair? Buying a +10 UberswordofPwning for 850BillionGold is different from buying it for only 850gold.

Hmmm... when such things happen it's best to complain right away. After all, hackers who are guilty won't even bother to complain when they get caught. They'd just shrug and say "oh well, time to hack another one and power-up another character".

Still, I don't recommend cursing. Who knows? A GM with a short temper may decide he/she doesn't like your attitude and won't even bother clearing you. Oh well.

This happened to me, just contact them usually when they well this is what they say anyhow, detect someone attempting to hack into your account they will lock it(aka ban) to prevent any abuse. All you have to do is contact support answer their questions and they will unlock it for you.

I have an ncsoft account for 6 years and have never been hacked, i have a wow account since 2005 and its never been hacked. Maybe some of you should stop downloading bogus game add-on or mods or just stop buying gold.

what are you playing now?  Im looking for something to keep me occupied while i wait for GW2 or some other good game

Honestly after AION i played only two other MMORPGs that gave me as much fun as AION did..

One would be a f2p MMO (i know F2P mmo's have bad rep) by Perfect World Entertainment named Heroes Of Three Kingdoms.. It's a faction vrs faction MMORPG that you fight over player owned territory in massive 100vrs100 battles.. Tons of 50vrs50 instances you can do at anytime.. Very fleshed out gameworld.. Quests were poorly written kill x/x ammount (on par with AIONs quests.)

I played that game for about 6 months and spent around $80.. Unfortunantley PWE got greedy and the cash shop which only offered fashion gear (no in game items) eventually started offering the best gear for like $80.. And those that had money bought it so the game went down hill and population dropped.. It sucked too because at that time they released a big expansion with guild houseing and other cool features but the fact that they sale end game gear in cash shop just put the nail in the coffin for me.

Other game would be EvE Online.. It was the first MMORPG i played after my 7-8month run on AION (playing AION around 8-12hrs a day btw lol) and i got hooked because it was a breath of fresh air.. After the first trial i didn't sub because the ammount of time it takes to "get" everything was staggering for me.. But after trialing WAR/SWG/AOC again i went back to EvE and this time i subbed after my 2 weeks was up because i finnaly understood it all after 4weeks of playing.. I've subbed on and off with EvE and each time its a new experience, now i have about 6 total sub months and can fly T2's and actually put up a fight (and win) vrs veterans that have been playing for years.. And the addrenaline rush i get when going through low sec or getting surrounded by pirates is unlike anything else.. EvE is the ultimate MMORPG for me.

Just some ideas for you man.. I also tried WoW after AION (hadn't played it much before AION) and i wasted $110 on it + WOTK + BC + 60day gamecard and played it for about 3 weeks till i realized that the game was way too easy and felt more like it was playing itself.. Biggest waste of cash for me.

It sounds like Aion has been plagued with hackers so they are doing the best they can to limit the hacking by autobanning accounts.

They need to upgrade their log-in system to reduce hacking.  i.e., wrong password three times, locked out for 15 minutes.

Beats my why these games can't use the same security that online banks use.  The game could remember your IP address(es) and if you try to play the game from a different IP address you have to answer additional security questions.

Something similar happened to me. I played Aion for about a month-ish after launch. One day, I try and log in, and it tells me my account has been banned. I sent in an e-mail, and they tell me it was for using third party software for the game. Now, I find this hilarious, because I have never used third party software for ANY mmo I have played. I tried to explain this in a response e-mail, but they claimed to have "indisputable" evidence. I said, whatever and called it a day.

Fast forward to about a month ago. A few friends and I decided to mess around in Guild Wars one night, for old time's sake. I tried logging in to my NCsoft master account, only to find that my master account had been banned. I was pretty pissed at this point. I called in, and bitched up a storm. The guy on the other end informs me that my account was banned because it was hacked. I find this very hard to believe since I hadn't played an NCsoft game in months, (and to top it off, I've NEVER had a game account hacked. Ever). So, I asked him about my Aion account. He then proceeds to tell me that my Aion account had been locked to prevent damage to the account, because it TOO was hacked. I laughed, and asked what happened to the indisputable evidence that showed I had been using third party software. He pauses and places me on hold for ten minutes. He comes back, only to tell me that the third party crap had been a mistake on their part. Needless to say I was pissed. I bitched at him more, told him I would never, EVER, play and/or purchase another NCsoft game for as long as I live. Then I told him to go to hell, and hung up.

So this one experience put a bad taste in my mouth for NCsoft, that I'll never get out. In my mind, it's all the proof I need that they have no idea what the hell they're doing.

My account got hacked when I was not playing as well. Its obvious that they had a person on the inside giving information. But I sent and e-mail and got my account back, items and a free month for my trouble. Its not that they don't know what they are doing...its that you were cursing them and being rude. You would have had a better experience if you would calm down and just let them know whats going on. No ones perfect but being rude to a person taking calls that had no hand in what happened to your account is wrong. He at work trying to make a living and the last thing he needs is you bitching at him.

My GW account got banned and I hadn't even played in months. They asked for CD keys I only found one of two and was like meh back to WoW and waiting on SWTOR.

Just came accross this thread by chance, thought that I would check my Aion account since I haven't played the game in months and...

    Account status: BANNED

No idea why. Never involed in RMT or anything like that. Oh well, Aion gets none of my hard earned cash. This happened before and they wanted more information from me then my bank does. From my perspective I have to say bye bye for good Aion.

Seems so many accounts had been comprimised not long after release. Mine was INACTIVE at the time also. I just felt the urge to jump back in and check out AIon again, entered my username/pass.. hmm nothing. Eventually contacted support and my issue was submitted to the game surveillance dpt. To cut a long story short, they reinstated my account fully. I'm still not aware of the damage done to my Lineage 2 toons or Aion, but I was told I would need to delete the level 50 toon that the hackers made. Disgusts me to think someone has been messing with my toons though :(

I found the CSR very helpful and actually sympathetic towards my case. And I really don't think it's a case of NCsoft not knowing what they are doing, but more often a lack of steps the end user takes to protect their system, thinking they are secure when infact they are not. My Eve account was also hacked and stripped around the same time, so really I have no reason to blame and bitch at NCsoft, when it might of been my own carelessness. However reading back over this thread is does seem very odd that a lot of us were hacked very shortly after release, most being inactive. Now, I'm not accusing NCsoft of having a few holes in their system, but it does seem strange.

I'm just grateful to have my account  back.

Looking forward to seeing Aion again tonight!

    Regards

Hello, The decision to terminate the account is final. This decision has been thoroughly reviewed by our team, and we maintain absolute confidence in our conclusion. The account will remain permanently closed and is not eligible for reactivation under any circumstances. At this time I must also inform you that any further inquiries regarding this account may be closed without a response.

    MY RESPONSE :

    Hello Modecai,

I respect your trust in your team!?

But for some reason in last three days your "superteam" banned my 4 legion members-friends and now you apologizing to them and removed their banned. Are you sure about "confidence in your decisions" last days?!

I told you, and i'm sure "I'm the original creator of this account". You did wrong.

So cause of this, i'll use my all legal rights at there...! And i'll take my 16 days game account rights back. Cause i paid real money for that days.

Between i'm sure so many users click-ed "Cancel Subscription" and so many users will click if you won't change your behaviours!!!

    Sincerely

I came back to the game 3 days ago, and like many on this thread, found my master account to be 'banned'.

I contacted support from the relevant site, and I was back in game within 2 hours, before the patch has finished downloading.  To say these people don't care about their  customers, is utter B/S.

    QED.
