They want to make a game that will allow you to play in a 'multi-verse' of sorts.

If you log in and want to play as 'x' today... then you go play that way.  (FPS, fantasy, etc.,..)

They want to be a 'one stop shop', so to speak.

    Is it really?

That is just a guess, the leak said a MMOFPS called Titan, not anything about the setting. People assume that Titan means space but it is coming from Greek mythology and could be almost anything.

Fantasy, hitorical, space, cyberpunk, WW2, steampunk...

While some kind of sci fi game is slightly more likely the setting could as well be ancient Greek unless you have an actual quote from a Blizzard employee saying something else.

We know very little about the game still, the name, MMOFPS and what Morhaime just said, that is it.

There have been a few tidbits of information floating around to suggest it is a sci-fi mmo.  Some news sites claimed to see a blizzard job posting looking for experienced mmo developers with sci-fi backgrounds.

There is some pretty fun to speculate information floating around that it might involve the halo license.  Gamebreaker.tv has a segment in one the ThisWeekInMMOs shows about it.  I'll see if I can dig it up if anyone is interested in watching it.

    here we go.

since the latest completely unimmaginative and overly recycled WoW expansion tanked even harder then the previous one, Blizz is quick to shift the focus to their "new" mmo. they know perfectly well that WoW has very few opportunities left to compete and re-invent it'self and it's slowly but surely dying so .....here's comes the new stuff.

    man this company is good.

Where in the world did you get that piece of disinformation?  They might have a first person view, but you can bet you life savings that a third person view will be standard so everyone can see their trappings they earned or bought.   Only braindead developers offer only a first person view and their games die out fast.

As to people saying it will be in the Starcraft universe, you must not be able to read as Blizzard has repeatedly said it won't be anything to do with Starcraft.

Yup you said it. While we know very little of this new mmo from Blizz. One things for sure, it will be acessbile to every kid and their grandmother. The entire idea of Blizzard making a new mmorpg does nothing for me at this point. Time will tell though.

I never even bothered picking up Cata. Too many people saying how bored they are, after their 3rd level 85.

This IP could end up being anything for all we know, but to think that it can't possibly be a Starcraft mmo 'cause they said so is being a bit naive.

You can read about the rumors that were all started because of a job listing posted by Blizzard a while back over here.

Well, maybe its a Superhero/Sci-fi MMO.  Superhero is pretty thin with only CoH, CO, DCUO and Marvel Super Squad, currently.  I could see that happen.  Many feel a MMO in this genera that is not part of a known IP would fail.  CoH really trumps that belief.  In pattern, WOW was not the first fantasy MMO so why should "Titan" be the first of its kind?

I know this will sound kind of ironic to many gamers but blizzard are one of a few devs in the unique possition which could actually bring out that truely ass kicking sandbox that so many have been waiting for and have it be truely successful.

Unfortunately I feel the money will be hesitant to allow it, however as said they are on a very, very short list of those than could both financially and historically. We will see, either way you can bet your ass there will be millions flocking on the first day, man I can't wait to see how those servers handle it, I think the interwebs will die that day.

EverQuest 1 remains the fantasy MMO for me (and Eve when I want my internet spaceship fix). I don't think I'd want to play another Blizzard casual focused MMO after WoW.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

     As stated:

In statements made during interviews, Morhaime indicated that Titan will be roughly divided in two: An area for battle and questing with a second are for more social events.

ROFL. Ive been waiting so long to say this..........

Its just a knockoff of GW2.  Cackle !!

"... of the design decisions we've made, you just can't address..."

To all: which design decisions in WOW they can't address because of the limits within WOW ...?

Some core basic designs can't be adapted in WOW.

    My guesses :

    - no longer single server realms, Blizzard has been clustering Wow in every possible way and it is much needed as all players are regrouped. The 3 most succesful MMO's in the past rely all on clustered server mechanics: Wow, EVE and GW1.

Single server realms is a thing of the past. The combo of cross server content and phasing will delete all complaints about "instances" as there will no longer be a difference between an instance and "real world", as both can be combined in a multi server world. EVE played a major role in this one.

    - perhaps no strict levels (WOW in its core design is level/gear based).

    - no pure fantasy, as the basic design needs to be different.

Since Kaplan is lead designer I don't think they will drop too many traditional MMORPG mechanics either. Guilds play and bridging tools through BNet will be in.

"To break the mold, sometimes you have to start over,"

How is it that nobody else seems too get this?? Sure there are a few indie companys that realise this, but they dont have enough funding too make a complete game. (not that many AAA games has been  complete at launch, but more complete then say MO and Darkfall)

I wish that the RIFT development them had realised this, cause they are a great dev team and actually listen to the community. But they are still making the same old type of game we have seen 50 of since WoW launched.

There is a difference between a single shard world and the fire and forget groups you get with those blind dungeon matching tools. The difference is the player reputation. In EVE your reputation matters. In a single shard world your reputation matters. In a dungeon match tool your reputation means nothing.

Science Fiction may contain Time Travel so its unrestricted in whatever content you want to develop.
While i am not a fan of to much Time Travel and to weird storys around that...

You haven't got it. You really don't understand a thing about future phasing and cross server possibilites here.

No one is even speaking of instances.

The only thing that counts is to address multi million popluations within one world in different kinds of phasing/realities.

Forget all you think to know about phasing and instances these days: they will be old hat in open multi millions played out worlds with different realities.

But carry on with promoting the bad copies of Wow. I guess that's the only thing you'll understand: single servers with dying populations, massive untuned zerg fests and old - very old - kill quests to ... level.

It shows the very old mentality that reigns over here.

No wonder you all play the same game for 10 years.

With what blizzard has commented on about Titan, Where they want to seperate gameplay in one area and social in aonther. I can totaly see this being a Sci-Fi, Twitch based combat space MMO where u can land in a station and walk around and mignle trade and do other aspects of that nature. but thats just my guess.
