REVIEW OF STAR WARS REVENGE OF THE SITH (NO SPOILERS HERE)

Review of Star Wars : Revenge of the Sith

for all you Star Wars fans -

Real quick and to the point:

Is this movie worth paying 10 bucks (USA) to see? Is it worth spending 2 hours of your life seeing it? YES and YES!

  1. Storyline and plot = NICE!!! FLAWLESS!!

  2. Sets, and costumes = NICE!! FLAWLESS!!

  3. Special F/X = NICE!! FLAWLESS!!

  4. Action = NICE!! Good pace!

  5. Most lightsaber battles out of ALL the Star Wars movies!

  6. My personal rating vs all the other SW movies? 1. A New Hope 2. Empire Strikes Back and tied for 3rd place Return of the Jedi AND Revenge of the Sith! Heck, Revenge of the Sith IMHO might even tie for #2 image

 7. The acting... well... it ranges from below avarage, to avarage, to NICE. The BEST actor in the entire movie is Ian, the guy who plays Palpatine/The Emperor! Worse actor is Ewan the guy who plays Obi Wan! Some of the worse ever acting in movies! Natalie (Padame) at least tries. Sam J (Mace) also tries. But Ewan just plain sucks in his acting in this movie!

NICE acting involves all of the following:

   - Having "The Look". (AKA being cast right). In this part, every character was cast good.

   - Being able to do facial expressions that cover the wide range of emotions. Only 2 people do it. C. Lee (Count Dooku) and Ian (Palpatine/Emperor!!). Natalie tries, and comes close to doing some good acting.

  - Being able to do different voice tones, ranges, AKA showing SOME EMOTION in the voice!!! Ian is FLAWLESS!!! (Palpatine/Emperor). Chiris Lee does good job. No one else in the entire movie can put any emotion into their voice!!! Everyone else speaks in the same exact monotone throughout the entire movie! OK R2D2 does also succeed in putting emotion into his beeps and chirps!

OMG Ewan sounds almost EXACTLY like C3PO!!! He even says some of the EXACT same lines as C3PO!! "Oh dear". and.. "Oh dear". IIIICCCK!! He sounds prissy, like a little 5 yr old girl! Even Anakin has more bass in his voice! LOL! Worse line in the entire movie:

hehe, cant wait til i see the movie, have to wait til tomorrow :)
and judging by the trailers, Ian does act really good, the Villain...
btw. i dont think Ewan acts that bad, in the trailer when he yells: "You were the chosen one!" - i always get chills

I concur with all of the above ...

except for Ewan ... I liked his acting. Especially in the duel , when he screams out his frustration ... interestingly AFTER he has defeated Anakin ... who had other things to worry about at that time then listening to his old teacher spouting out selfish WHY ME WHY YOU speeches :-)

    Have fun

I saw the movie and really enjoyed it. I thought Ewan did a fine job with what he was given. Although I think Lucas is a great visionary with story-telling and affects, I really don't see him as a great director.

One of my favorite 'laughable' moments in the movie was when Vader yells 'Noooooo'. That was far too funny! The runner up was for such an arid planet like Tatooine, it was dam cloudy in those scenes. ::::35::

Silly jedi, if there's one lesson that can be learned from us bounty hunters is 'you always finish the job'. Sheesh. ::::12::

When Darth Vader lurches off of that platform like Frankestein and shouts "NOOOOOOO!," he perefctly expresses the way I felt about pretty much the whole second half of that movie.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

    In my opinion.....

Ewan Mcgregor was the most convincing actor. I felt as with the other movies that anakin and padme were both too fake and palpatine instead of being manacing was comical especially during the scene with mace windu.

All in all I enjoyed the movie though I feel it should have been about an hour longer. I felt as though they were rushing through to the end. they could have spent alot more time on the temple scenes and in several other places where anyone who has played the game on either xbox or ps2 can tell you they left ALOT out.

In short it was a fantastic movie that could have been alot longer.

I loved the movie...I just wish we would have got to see Luminara and her student. They were in the Clone Wars series as well as Ep2. Apparently, they DID shoot a big fight scene with them, but it was cut for time purposes.

Ill agree with you with all except storyline/plot. I thought the change of Anakin from good to evil was way too quick. I dont wanna say what happens but for those who saw it, you know what scene Im talking about, it wasnt gradual. Ewan, I think had the best acting in the movie even if some of his lines were cheezy but reall now, which character in the movie DIDNT say at least 1 cheezy line. The sabre battles were alright, not amazing in my eyes. Although the way the final one ends was amazing.

It wasn't quick, though. You have to take into account that this movie takes place over approximately 7 months. Padme is pregnant at the beginning and at the end giving birth. Its just that the passage of time was mishandled.

  • Narc1Narc1 Member Posts: 46
yea I understand it took place over about 7-8 months but the transition seemed to all happen in that one scene which was like what 5 min ? It was just bad timing like you said.

I really liked the movie, but I had some major problems with it. I don't know why they limited themselves to 2 hours, where there was obviously more story to tell. The way the non-temple jedi died was REALLY ANNOYING considering they're supposed to be able to sense danger and tell the future (that's not a spoiler you knew all the jedi died).

he was tempted to the darkside right from the beginning, the emotions around this are very good

past the first half of the movie it goes a bit too fast imho, it was like highspeed forward compared to 1st half...

overall I liked it a LOT image for someone that hadn't read the books (me), this just reveals so much! i'm now one with the force! (geek joke heh)

  •   I agree it seems there was a lot more Lucas wanted to put in. As if there was more to the story, and it seemed a bit rushed. But working with 2 hours he did well.

Just think! 20 years pass between RotS and ANH! Lucas could make 3 more movies to cover the time between this current movie that is out, Revenge of the Sith, up to the beginning of A New Hope.

    (SOME SPOILERS INCLUDED)

So I went to Star Wars Weekened at MGM Studios in Florida and then went to catch the movie for the first time in Downtown Disney.

    My thoughts...

STAR WARS WEEKEND: That was a gank fest!  I was getting ganked by thousands of six-year olds with light sabers.  Seriously, they were swinging these things around total oblivious to their surroundings.   Worse, Disney was actually giving away sabers, so they were largely responsible for arming these children.  Ugh!  Overall, I enjoyed all of the behind-the-scenes stuff, which was very well done.  But the screaming, bratty, light-saber weilding kids made it tough to enjoy at lot of the attractions.  Honestly, I could understand why Vader killed all the younglings.  It was tempting.

STAR WARS: THE MOVIE:  It was good, but that's all I can say.  The script was terrible.  I agree with a lot of the comments already made, and will add some of my own:

    • The transition to Vader was way too quick.  It was pretty much, "Oh crap, I killed Mace.  Guess I'm a Sith now. "
    • All of the Jedi's died WAAAAY too easily.  C'mon, they should have sensed a disturbance.  It was okay that they died, but sheesh, let them go out fighting.
    • BAD LINE #1: Vader screaming "Noooooooooo" and acting like frankenstein.
    • BAD LINE #2: Padamay saying to Anakin, "You're breaking my heart!"
    • The Scene of the Deathstar at the end.  What was this?!  Obi-Wan was 60 years old AT LEAST in Episode IV, and he was about 40 at the end of the picture.  That's fine.  But Luke and Leia were newborns.  So did it take 20 years to build the deathstar?  In Episode IV one of the imperials is saying "until this battlestation is fully operational, we are vulnerable."  So it supposedly wasn't 100% done yet.  I think showing the death star was a bit premature.

So, the movie was enjoyable, but ole Lucas still can't write a good script.  He needed some help with this one.

    The movie was AWSOME!!!

Also i wish Lucas would make the last 3 ;( (episode 7-8&9)

The only way I can really describe episode III, is Greek tragedy.  I mean, I knew how it was going to end, yet the execution was soo well done and cathartic.  I almost felt silly at how many times I cried during it.  You really feel for the characters in this movie, as opposed to the first two where it all felt very safe.  You really feel sorry for Anakin as you really want him to do good, but doesn't . The film also tied the entire storyline up really, really well.

If I had to rate this film, I might even be as bold to say it's right up there next to Empire.  I'm pretty sure that this was the only Star Wars film that made me feel so much during the journey.  Definitely a must see for fans of Star Wars.  Well worth however much you pay for it.  In fact, I felt it was so good, I'm gonna have a hard time watching the originals again after this one.

Honestly he was my only sanity point in the whole movie. I think he did an excellent job in all 3 prequels.

Possibly, he said he would never make the 3 prequels at one point in his life. Then he did.

I really don't understand why so many people feel the old star wars are better than the new? If you like hippy haircuts and poor special effects sure it is great. Quite honestly episode three was the best star wars movie, period.

The best part of star wars are the lightsaber battles, and all the original movies lightsaber battles were poor compared to the new. I personally was a fanatic about the old movies but when the new ones came out it is like comparing out of date to new. The actors in all three of the new movies are vastly better than any of the old. The extras are also much more believable. The old star wars feel fake now and the acting is extremely poor IMO. Look at this line up!

    Ewan McGregor .... Obi-Wan Kenobi
    Natalie Portman .... Padm
