It has a 5.5 rating for a reason.

    It is rough at first.

I know it's a cliche, but give it some time and you may start to enjoy it.

Personally, I love the exploration factor so far. Reminded me of how much I hate closed, theme park type atmospheres.

    Hate it too!

But now I switched to xsyon. That is exaclty what I thought earthrise would be. Real sandbox, not just a big map with random mobs and call it sandbox ;)

For me, Earthrise is just like all that asian grind-mmorpgs with just nice graphic.

I guess I'd hype Xyson if I enjoyed shitty graphics and a 1980's arcade combat system that feels like I'm playing double dragon but with only one move and that one move seems to be a very short range stiff head butt.

Atleast ER doesn't need a graphical and combat overhaul, preformance issues and extra content which MHS has road mapped and doesn't dispute needs to be fixed ASAP. Good luck in Xyson when you have the same issues as in ER along side shitty graphics and laughable combat and atleast half of the features broken or non existant!

Besides I take hot chicks with guns over hippys that try to headbutt eachother to death any day!

Lol, look at all these Sandbox cling-ons who just simply hop from one thing to the next, claiming fanboyrdom to the next 'up and coming' Sandbox thing, it won't be long till they're bashing Xsyon into the ground. Xsyon > ER? Have you even played Xsyon? You can't even compare the two. Honestly its no wonder the MMO genre is in such a state. Ever since 12 year olds got hold of their parents internet connections the industry has collapsed.

Xsyon is great if you want to spend an entire day cutting down tree's and building spears, forming tribes and ... Cutting down more tree's and building more spears. That game is a survival sim, not a sci-fi Sandbox. You can't wage war or fight, the PvP is non existant. You can't even compare the two. All i know is i'd rather play in a fantasy sci-fi world of Earthrise than a real-life sim that i can re-create by simply stepping outside and finding my nearest woods.

All games are theme-park, the devs set up rides you run and try them out. Sandbox games just lack lines.

Even the most open world game pales when compared to a pencil and paper RP game. Stop pretending there is some huge divide bewtween the labels. It's like the skill argument...

Havent played it but my theory is that the condition of the game is due to 1) Earthrise developers switching to a higher profile and more profitable project part of the way through (fallout mmorpg via Interplay) and 2) Inexperience as a developer over seas.

No they're not. I cannot physically travel from one side of the map to another in a theme-park MMO like WOW without being killed by the 'security guards' (higher level mobs). You cannot go anywhere you want in a theme-park MMO without restrictions.

Yeah it would be hard to compare the two as Earthrise is a Themepark and Xyson is actually a sandbox game.

Why are you comparing Xyson to Earthrise? If you wish to go down that route - In terms of performance, stability AND gameplay, Xyson is far superior. If you are so narrow minded to look beyond the slightly dated animations/graphics, I'm glad you aren't interested in the title. That being said, I would question why one isn't so concerned with ER's animations and graphical glitches - it's shockingly terrible.

In it's current 'launch' state, ER's main talking point is how utterly shite the game is, there's nothing remotely positive about it, apart from it's "potential". The official forums are littered with refund requests, bug support threads, exploit complaints & angry customers.

You claim Xyson has half of it's features missing or are non-existant, where did you get this tosh? Even in it's current state, 75% of the features are implemented and WORKING. Le'ts take a quick look at Earthrise, what does one actually have to do (When the servers are up, that is)? Questing is bugged to hell, PvP combat is non-existant due to the lag and performance issues, crafting has taken a back burner and the majority of time is spent trying to work around a game-breaking bug.

Take a quick look at the official forums, one of the main questions is "What to do?". The answer by most being, "Grind BP points" - Largely due to the fact there's fuck all to do. But hey, you folks always have the "roadmap" to fall back on for support.

Well sorry if I touched a nerve there but I was replying to the rabid Xyson fanbois that have decended upon the ER forums to bash it. If you can look past Xyson's issues then more power to you, I can look past ER's present issues although I don't get the lag nor have I found any gamebreaking bugs or bugged quests.

You don't like ER then my advice is to just suck it up and don't post in these forums, but in reality many just can't help themselves and then need to hype their pet game just for good measure.

I just bought Earthrise when it was released and was badly disapointed like never before in a mmorpg. I bought xsyon just some days later, because I wanted to actually "play" an mmorpg, and not try to do something.

And I'm just very lucky I did that, because I found a treasure. I played both very much the last weeks, and its pretty clear with one is real and which is not.

And the company philospohy of these two companys is totally different to.

Bad thing is, I had to spend about 90$ for both games.
