Earthrise: How about some feedback and images from subscribers?

I’m wondering what improvements have been made thus far since launch? Would be nice to hear from Earthrise subscribers and their experience and see some images. So if you are an MMORPG member and play Earthrise would you share your experience and post some images. I tried joining Beta when MMORPG gave out their keys but I couldn’t even register to the servers. I really want to give this game a try but I don’t want to invest my money and time and be disappointed yet again. What improved so far?

I'd start looking in the Earthrise forum.

I did invest my money in this game, and the only thing I can do now is to save my time.

The last time I had seen a mmo failing at that point on launch day, it was Dark & Light.

EarthRise used its own release to get money from "players-investors" to try to finish the project. The server is now underpopulated, every one is leaving as the further we go, the more we understand that this game still need years of development before becoming a game.  The bulk, the players interested by the game, left,  each of them going back to their previous mmo:  Eve, Fallen Earth, Wow or Rift.

To try to keep its players, mastheag gave us an additional month of freetime play. But on my side I've already uninstalled the game and I don't think that the server will still be up in june-july.

Man! I can't believe how bad things are for this game, it promised quite a few qualities I look for in a sandbox game. I still have some hope Masthead will fix the issues it has and deliver us a good sandbox. Though as is the case with poor released games it may not recover the fan base it once had.

    Well,

Mmorpg.com, the largest mmos website advised its community not to stay away from that title (5/10 rating?)

Jeuxvideo.com advised its community not to help financing such a project (6/20)

Worst mark I saw was coming from a german website, 5.5/20

I don't think it can recover from that.

The next patch is make or break.

MHS has been able to largely clear up some of the game breaking bugs like desync, DMZ, and falling through teleporters.  They've also made great strides in server stability and performance.  The last patch was actually pretty great.

Unfortunately they've left a lot of holes for exploiters and though they've covered some of them up they haven't done shit about the damage done before it was fixed so a lot of cheaters got ahead and are kind of fucking over honest players.

There were some early exploits which allowed players to dupe quests for unlimited XP and cash.  There was also a dupe which allowed players to accrue basically unlimited crafting mats.

Botters now burn through the crafting grind and leave honest players in the dust.

MHS has done nothing to prevent any of this cheating, exploiting, and botting nor have they punished anyone or taken away anything earned through cheating or exploiting.

And there is a weapon in the game which is so OP that no one uses anything else for PvP.  It can pretty much one shot any player in the game, can stun you, can DoT you, is AoE, has the second longest range in the game, and for some special attacks can be fired from 100 meters out which is a bug but also the furtherest any weapon can reach in the game.

People bunny hop like retards in PvP as there's no stamina cost for it and if you get into trouble all you have to do is ALT+F4 and you instantly vanish from the gameworld.  The people with the one-shot rocket launchers often catch people in the wild unawares, one shot them, and then run off.

What's really unfuriating is that if you catch up to them and they start losing they just ALT+F4 and you have no hope of ever getting your stuff back.  You used to be able to damage players as they loaded in but they got rid of that in the last patch so people can just log in later, look around, and if you camp their log out spot they can just ALT+F4 again before you can damage them.

    Sound like fun?

Hey ikavadas, not entirely true, but yeah pretty much.

You can kill people before they log in and have a chance to retaliate after they alt-f4 (i often camp people's alt+f4 spots and kill them when they're logging in to take whats mine).

And MHS have been routinely kicking/banning botters, some people such as HCSpectre have been banned. They have been doing something, but its not enough. They need to strip the exploiters of CP and Credits. Trouble is we would never know if they did, as its unlikely they'd name and shame paying customers.

Everything else you're right about, and time will tell how MHS copes with it. The game can definitely still 'rise', there's only a select 2-3 people exploiting. Im eagerly anticipating the 11th March patch.

I don't remember reading about any sandbox-features in this game. So please help me, what makes this game a sandbox ?

I bought the game and tried it.  It was a very frustrating experience, the biggest problem being the lag.  So I stopped and then went back a couple of weeks later hoping it was fixed.  Nothing changed.  If you take away the lag issue, the game might have been fun, but I never got a chance to try it out.

When you take a step, pause, take a step and then pause again, the fun factor drops quickly.  I lowered the settings to the raw basics, everything looked bland and the lag was still there.  Others I asked had the same issue.   It's really sad that the game was in that state, I would have really gave it a try if it wasn't.

That's not true.  In the last patch they added PvP damage invulnerability for players while loading in.  You cannot damage a player while loading in.  I tested and verified this last night against Windows 95 of Incognito.  Had three other 47th with me.

We were pounding him as soon as the avatar loaded in, he took no damage, his avatar moved just barely, and then he ALT+F4ed.

He was criminal, we did not need to engage FF (though I did anyways just in case).

    So you're wrong.

HCSpectre was banned for repeated offensive language in general chat.

    My quotes in blue, obviously.

The description posted in the MMORPG game space says "Featuring a unique skill-based advancement system and player-driven economy, as well as extensive, meaningful player-vs.-player combat, Earthrise gives players innumerable choices to forge their destiny through its open, sandbox-style game mechanics."

Earthrise is a non linear game that allows players to explore an open world game environment independently from the game's main objectives. And the sandbox qualities I was referring to are:

    • No artificial "class" restrictions get in the way of making the character you want.

    • Territorial conquest and defense that matters. In your domain, you create your own rules – or let anarchy reign.

    • Character progression that keeps you advancing in your career with no limits.

    • Deep crafting mechanics that let you design and manufacture unique items from customizable blueprints and raw resources.

    • The quest system in Earthrise is designed to fit the concept of a free PvP sandbox world.

Only one or two people left botting? Thats like 20% of the game population.

lkavadas+ 1 he pretty much sums it all up

Masterhead isnt banning exploiters or botters. Read the official forums. The other guy lied. HCSpectre was banned for something else

Territorial conquest isnt really in the game yet. Point 1 and 3 are the same. The Crafting system isnt really working too. I mean, when crafting and classless character progression means Sandbox, then we got reeeally many sandbox games out there :)

I mean, WoW has territorial conquest, it has crafting and player economy, you can even collect resources on the map! And you can run across the whole map if you want. You are just restricted by the stronger mobs, just like in earthrise.

So it has more sandbox features then Earthrise has. For me, the Sandox-"features" of earthrise are just the lack of content.

Oh, don't worry you haven't missed your chance. The paid beta continues even right now. it is just up to you to decide you want to pay for it or not. I personally don't feel like philanthropy any more, not after my DF and MO experience. I might give it a shot after they manage to put some shit together.
