We need more sci-fi... sick of fantasy spam

IF EVE gets planetary combat and meaningful "ambulation" It would be the perfect MMO. Epic in everyway-catering to EVERY play style.
If RIFT can keep pumping new dynamic content, a bit more "sandbox" in terms of the leveling path/crafting and keep pace with raid content itll be pretty fantastic-its got a great base.
So for me-give EVE some "walk around as your character" play and/or give RIFT some sandbox and a good content flow-and ill be happy for a good long time!
I would like to see Guild Wars 2 released this year; since it's the only game bringing innovation, visceral combat and large-scale WvWvW PvP.
But when talking about an MMO of a favourite item of media, then I think it would be interesting to see an MMO based on Kelley Armstrong's "Otherworld" Novel Series.
Rift is a ok gamei got burnt fast on it but its ok still, agree on eve tho wish they would remake Earth and beyond,or sell the source code to some one with talent.
Aye that would be awesome

Honestly, I don't think a perfect game will happen for me. If you took the the job system and PvE content and gear from ffxi, the PvP from and clan system from L2 , the player housing and epic size of the game from SWG, then took all that and made it with either cry engine 2 or unreal engine 3 I would be in heaven. That's not going to happen though is it?
Also to the guys wish Eve had actual characters instead of just ships, I would agree 100%.
Hate to be a broken record but it seriously time for someone to make a sandbox mmo that appeals to the masses. We need more risk and less time spent copying other people's mmos.

The amount of ppl who say this & yet it unfortunately falls on deaf ears bud

I would like to see the combat (and AI) from vindictus,a la runescape
quest style(make that 500+ and more each week/month with more paths to choose for each quest ),
eve's (open) world with ddo's dungeons, duels/sieges/realm vs realm like mount and blade
and to satisfy the " hardcore " pvpers add ffa pvp and if a red gets cought/killed he goes to prison for x hours :P.
I would also like the game to be skill based, with no grind to crafting (hell they could make
minigames like free realms where u could make a sword in like 2-3 irl minutes instead of making
100 swords/minute)
but i guess i will never play this kind of mmo for the next 5-10 years Q.Q
I would like to see MMOs that focus on socializing and player interdependency.
I would like to see DAoC and UO and SWG clones instead of WoW clones.
I would like MMOs to stop making their game mechanics aimed at 4 year olds with ADD.
I would like some new ideas and features.
I would like no instances.
I would like WoW clones to stop being made.
I would like a proper Middle Earth Online live in middle earth game, rather than the NGE'd LotRO WoW clone.
I would like to fear death in an MMO again.
Actually, MMO's with a steampunk, alternate reality, horror or historical (western, WW2, '30s Chicago, dark middle ages, etc) theme would be interesting too, I think.
The ACTUAL size of MMORPG worlds: a comparison list between MMO's
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums:
Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."
Cyberpunk. Ground based futuristic scifi world. Mega corps, govt, spies, warriors, hackers, netrunners, et... economy/crafting player run.
Anything based on AC1 would do fine without all the "I don't want to play the game elements that current MMOs have ".
NOTHING COULD BE SIMPLER.

Sandbox western does sound interesting too me as well, maybe mix in bit of hunting :P,or gold paning.
Stuff I like to see, not necessarily in the same MMO, but yeah.
1. More Historical Games: Not based off Japanese, Chinese, Roman, Medieval, or World War Eras, sick of those. I want to see Ancient World, it would cool if someone did a good game based off the 7 wonders of the Ancient World and cultures of the time, all those societies are cool. Western is getting more popular, I would love to see an MMO of it. Renaissance would be cool. Another is South American Cultures, or North American Cultures like the American Indians and Inuits, African cultures, Mongol or Vietnamese (basically not very explored asian cultures). I would like to see any of these in single player games too.
2. A real Pokemon MMO...lol.
3. A Sandbox Game that isn't all about crafting, building, civilizing or recivilizing the world (Xsyon), and with annoying FFA pvp, kind of like Eve, but on the ground and no time based progression. You know how Eve had already existing stations and stuff, I like that.
4. More Kid Friendly Games, that are fun to play for Adults. As a kid at heart, I like the lighthearted feel of kid friendly games, and generally they have very friendly communities, so hearing about Lego Online and Marvel Super Hero Squad Online interested me. However, I tried Lego Online, and it was way too simple (even for kids), and the block building sucked. People said Super Hero Squad is simple, and not really a MMO, making me a little sad. I mean Mario is appealing to kids, but isn't extremely simple, so I think MMO's could do that. When I say kids I don't me babies and toddlers, I mean 7 and up.
5. Awesome Classes: I personally think nowadays if your MMO has classes, then they should be well defined, unique classes with good lore behind them. I mean if all you plan to have is the basic Cleric, Warrior, Rogue, Archer, and Mage classes, with little lore beyond "all fantasy games have these" then you might as well just have a skill based system. I hate that most modern MMO's have this, and when they make a non-basic class it plays exactly the same as one of the basic classes, just with different names, and why this unusual class exist is not told. That is why I like EQ and WoW classes, EQ classes played very differently, and Wow non-traditional classes (ex: DK, Druid, Shaman) had a story and reason for there existance and playstyle. Both don't do classes perfectly or anything, but far superior to most modern MMO's that just put in the druid for the sake of saying they have a druid.
I want Future class-based MMOs to have: The basic classes and unusual classes, with extremely different playstyles never seen before, and a reason behind why that class exist.
6. A good MMOFPS or MMORTS: So far the only ones I tried suck, or just seem like multiplayer game with a slightly larger battlefields.
7. More Minigames: Like chess, checkers, racing, etc...This also includes somewhat pointless Professions/Hobbies like Juggling, Puppetry, a Musician. Obviously this should come after the basic stuff, but minigames are a simple way to keep people playing longer in my opinion.
8. Player Idea Implementing: How to go about this exactly would be hard, but still cool. Like a game where a player can literally make content themselves, would be very hard. I like that but I prefer a voting system. Like the game is just a generic fantasy world at first, and then people can come up with ideas they think are cool, then they get people to sign a petition that will put the idea on the next voting poll. A person can try to "advertise," and debate ideas to try to influence people. People will be able to vote if they like the idea or not, and if the Majority like it it will be implemented by the Dev team at some point. The Devs will make rules on what can be voted on, when the voting takes place and stuff like that. If the Dev team can prove the players ideas are making them lose money, then thay can reverse things.
9. Large Variety of Ways to Level: One thing I noticed is a time progresses old leveling ways are being eliminated. Take WoW, you can level by quests, grinding, dungeons, pvp, and crafting. However, questing is far superior of a leveling option than everything else, Dungeons are the best if you are a tank or healer, they are better not only in speed, but in the amount of variety. With upcoming MMO's coming out that focus on dynamic events (GW2) or very strong story oriented quests (SWTOR), I predict traditional questing will disappear and grinding will be all but gone. I would like to see an MMO with: dynamic events, quests, tasks, grinding, dungeons, pvp, and crafting as legit ways to level, and each with high variety.
10. Better Promoting of Good Community: Most games don't seem to try to promote a good community, there has to be better ways to get people to be competitive, yet still nice and helpful to each other without losing fun.
"Great minds talk about ideas, average minds talk about events, and small minds talk about people." - Eleanor Roosevelt
"Americans used to roar like lions for liberty; now we bleat like sheep for security." -Norman Vincent Peale
I support this message! Just dont make death too scary lol.
Clones arent really the problem, its what they are cloning. All games build off games that came before. I played DAoC on and off, mostly on, for over 9 years, and i still love the gameplay mechanics of RVR. Im a little tired of playing it, but a new game with a similar set of systems would be awesome.
You dont hear too many people who played DAoC when it was at its peak say it wasnt a great game.
This ^^
I have some reserved hopes that ArchAge might pull it off but I'm also not ready to jump onto their hype train yet.
There is the WoD MMO as well....just with the lack of info it makes it hard to get too excited.....
I want Planetside 2.
So glad that game is finally getting more devs on board for it, though disappointed it was at the expense of The Agency.
Would be nice to get a good Saints Row or GTA style mmo still.

2. Themepark MMO: Guild Wars 2 - B2P
3. Shooter MMO: Firefall - "Free"
I feel smug about mmos right now. Back up there's Tor & EvE. Only one missing is a really good fantasy sandbox mmo.

I want a historical game. Preferably based on melee. Vikings, knights or samurais would work fine but there are many possibilities.
No magic, no healers, no tanks but instead focusing on melee fighting.
And I rather have a semi skill based system than levelbased. Not so you raise your skills by using them (that usually becomes as excuse for people running around frogjumping and other silly behaviour) but one where your skills (but not health or gear) raises as you get certain experience points (or lock up certain achivements).
I can in fact live with no hitpoints at all and more focusing on armor, dodging and parrying.
For the combat mechanics I want you to have say 10 different combat skills at any moment but they should change depending on circumstances, like what you did last, terrain and other factors.
Partly sandbox where guilds can build their own city (with houses for individual players, shops, taverns and so on).
Part themepark but with quests being actual quests, not menial tasks. Quests should be something you remember, not something you do every 5 minutes.
A system with high focus on melee would really take a rather good combat system, I have been giving it some thought. And a slightly better AI, one you just can't tank. Not too smart however, I don't want every crap mob to play as good as the best players but mobs should at least be as competent as bad playes.
I don't want another fantasy game that are similar to Wow but set in a different world. I played so many of those and while a few been good most have been a waste of time.
I want an mmo that I can play on my phone.. whahahhaha so anywhere i want i can still paly it anytime....
A "Wild, Wild West" themed game, or at least a "Wild West" themed game or a Zombie game...or a combination of the two. My second choice would be an Urban Fantasy, like 'The Secret World' or 'World of Darkness'. My third would be a Cthulhu themed game set in the 20's or earlier...possibly Victorian. I think a heavily Steampunk themed game would be cool, but it might make more sense to incorporate lots of Steampunk into other game styles. A Diesel Punk game would be interesting, but I'm not sure it would lend itself well to good story telling.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
Battle Royale (link) Online.
Seriously.
Ladder based 48 player instanced "deserted island"...
Everybody against everybody
No respawns
Start with a single random item (Examples: A compass, a bookbag, a frying pan, a pistol with some bullets in clip, multitool, etc...)
Full loot but with item destruction possible (ie if you flamethrower someone with kevlar the vest might not survive or w/e)
No corpse rot
Realistic inventory system (ie unless your random item was a bag or you got one off of someone else you're basically limited to what you are holding in your hands or will fit in your pockets...)
Every 2-3 minutes that someone doesn't die a couple random players' heads explode... with a siren going off near (so people know where item(s) are laying near a headless corpse...
If you quit/cancel you suicide and your corpse stays where it lays.
I don't care if you call it an MMO or a variation on CoD... that shit would be epic.
