ill try lineage 2 tonight on dial up you could alwayd download it and burn it onto a cd for him especialy if you got a cd that big or dvd burner ummm lineage 2 is ocming out and lineage 2 is great not a ton of violence but.... you have to keep his eyes away from the Dark elfs... they ummm i guess tend to get hot cause wow or there tring to get tanner skin not grey >< lol there in some tight revealing clothes
yes, that did get annoying really fast, i don't think i have ever seen a game recycle monster models as much as DAoC does =/
i guess ill just let the lineage2 d-load sit .... :sigh: it's a little after 2pm and the d-load might be done by midnight, i don't know how everyone else d-loads the client at like 215 kb/s when im stuck at 35.4... it's just not fair
Asheron's Call, Asherons Call! weee! pick that 'un...The first, not the second. a very good game, the graphics can be set differently...to make the peformance better. even though it "Ol' Skool" plenty of people still play. It will work fine on a 56k modem, i was running on 28k at my dads house. $9.95 a month, and you get the first month free! I'm gonna have to advertise for them....haha...anyways, It is updated monthly...and erm....Get it!
For EQ, in each latest expansions they usually improve the graphics.Say they improved the graphics for shadows of lucin, will the continent kunark have the same graphics or what?

dude kunark came out like 2 years ago , and luclin came out like 8 months ago ..... wait are u asking when they improved graphics for luclin if it improved them for every continent ? The answer is yes if so, the textures have been totally redone , granted nothing looks as nice as luclin and legacy of yekesha atm , but velious and kunark and the old world are looking fair because of the retexture , also the new character skins carry over on every continent as well heh

Kinda hard to start with but its real fun AND instead of in most games where u get no service at all & hide from the gm's when u start AO u get a guide to help u through everything you want to know Also there is not too much violence & no half naked women (like in EQ)
Also with Shadowlands coming out now its gonna be awesome for exploring even more.
But most important! HAVE FUN playing side by side with your son

SWG it works ok on a 56K but not horribly bad unless you are on at super-duper peak time. Yes its still has its problems but its a pretty good MMPOG, it should make for a good father son game cause its not horribly violent, and set in a really huge universe, and you could make for the fahter son Jango-Boba thing lol or even a father son empire thing
But my true suggestion is not really a MMPOG, Never Winter Nights. Find a server that is always on and you have to create a different character. And go for it, its stable, its always new and there is always something to do, thousands of quest and options. Player driven, RP, D&D what more could you ask for? Hell my friend and his friends run a 100 player server they are trying to push to 200. They keep weekly unpdates going with a long quest system, you have to create a seperate character and they are serious RPers. If you are a thief who is caught stealing from a city that is run by a theifs guild in-game the Mods cut off a finger that lowers your dex permaedtly. Or right now they have this virus going around and you have a item you cand drop that lowers all your stats by -5 and every week that goes up, and if the players dont find a cure they could all likely die
Cheaper but not better. They're quality is crap, you want quality, pent's are definitely better.

You might try City of Heroes, I play that with all 3 of my kids. 8,10 and 14. We have a ball and yes one is on 56k and he doesn't complain about the lag at all. It is really a simple MMO by default. picking you powers and enhancements is as simple as I have seen to date. Even my 8yr old has a pretty crazy time with it, he is lvl 45 now after only 2 months. My 14 yr old has his own Supergroup (Guild)
My brother and his 2 lil girls play as well. And you can't beat the character tool in that game. Plus the comicbook feel really is right up the kids alley!
The ones that are suggesting playing UO on 56k are stupid as hell. It'll lag like hell if you play it on a 56k modem and will limit how much you can fight.
Mustache is a cat That has to go to the vet Do your taxes now
I'd recommend City of Heroes also, to be honest. It has a comic book type of setting, but it's very clean as opposed to gritty. This is a generalization, but if your kid is playing on the Cube and GBA, he's probably into games with a little more emphasis on solid, fun gameplay and a little less complexity. That pretty much sums up how CoH relates to other MMORPG's. Also, the action is solid enough to appeal to avid shooter fans (I am one, myself). A nice bonus is the sidekick/exemplar system, if you should decide to play a bit when he's not with you. Basically, if you're doing content your friend is too high or low for, he can become your sidekick (artificially raise his level) or exemplar (artificially lower his level). While somebody is sidekicked, they still gain xp, though the same doesn't apply to exemplars.
It might not be friendly to player on 56K, though. Honestly, I have a hard time coming up with any MMORPG that yields an enjoyable experience on non-broadband. You might look for a nice DSL promotion to get him. In my area, for instance, ATT-SBC offers a year-long DSL (1.5Mb down, 378 up) contract with free set-up and less than $10 for a month. If he's in the southwest, check out what SBC can offer him.
You all do realize that this post is like 3+yrs old? The OP is probably long gone imo, and im sure the orginal circumstances like 56k modem etc.. have likely changed as well?

Mut great to see you got a new CPU .
Should have got a athlon xp though hehe. What graphics card you got in that unit?
Oh back to topic erm yeah EQ not too bad if you have someone to play with otherwise fustrating as hel with everyone been level 60 and above nowadays.
DAoC might be a better shot.
Id say EQ or Anarchy online (http://www.anarchy-online.com/)

Athlon xp owns pent4 anyday hehe.
Cheaper and heck better.Pentium is history to me LOL.
I would have to say Ultima Online. I played that with my son when he was that age. We had a lot of fun on it.
