How is this "The general remarks Im seeing about FWs cash shop is that for PvE its mostly just fluff and convenience items, while for PvP right now it seems you can spend a few hundred dollars to make your guy much more imposing than those who dont.".
The mage with fortify equipment with gem slots is always better than none right? PvE or PvP regardless?
Perfect World = PW = P2W? logic, no?
You don't NEED those to fortify. And you CAN get them in game without cash shop. It just takes a little more patience and time.
And to be honest i like this more than P2P games, where it's not allowed to purchase gold/items with real money, but people still do it ( gold sellers etc. ). At least here you can do it and it's legal, nothing different than P2P. In every serious PvP game it's Pay2Win for the people that have money to spend on it.
I'm one person who ran out of things to do, I should say interesting quests. I reached town and did a few quests, now there is nothing. So I'm not playing.
On top of it being a copy of basicly any other PWI game, for example the NPC and quest auto pilot is a perfect example of a copy, it's a very unstabile game.
ALLOT (and I really mean allot) of people have had problems getting the game to even start. I'm not saying the PWI games are bad per se but they're going to far with the copying of game systems into a 'new' game, they hardly even listen to their community, the 'not being able to run' bug has been there since CB and I'm pretty sure it still isn't fixed, every temporary fix is completely user based, PWI itself did nothing to help out. Even took them months to make a thread to ask for dxdiag reports.
Just one more question about forsaken world, like serious question
How is FW any different from PW, other than aethetic reasons or the whole vampire thing? The mechanic seems the same, FW seems like a westernized clone of PW? PW Clone has never been used so appropritately lol
How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW? As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.
Why are you guys not doing a writeup on the awesomeness of GA and their new payment plans? It's a sick game that hasn't gotten the hype it deserves, one time payment deal for loot from PvP. And if you're in a hurry you have the option to buy timed boosters for double of everything (it's not a must, just an option).
Or you can take the hard road and just grind tokens and still get all the best stuff as F2P.
I think GA has a great F2P model and if you do decide to upgrade it's a ONE TIME fee for like 10 bucks!

FW seems to have had improvements since I last played in Beta, however there are still things that PWE has done wrong.
1. Limited Chat Functions so that you cant send a message to everyone without paying 4 Zen per Message that you send, which causes a person to have to pay money to shout for party invites, limits social interactions, and causes problems. Shouts should be free at level 20 and above.
2. Having to pay to reset talents is just really lame, and should be free, just as character customization such as hair, and basic functions should be free to remodify except certain items sold at the items shop.
3. Hopefully the items shop does not become like Perfect World International is because I will check out the game again and see if it is any better, but if it does I am out.
The introduction claims this game is a sandbox, however, reading through the article it's labled as an asian themepark grinder.Which is it? Themepark quest grinder or sandbox? It's two oposites - it has to be one or the other.

It's a themepark, he probably just misspoke.
On another note, what's with all the people whining about how staff chooses to spend their time? Asian F2P games are actually a decently big market in the US, and some people are genuinely curious.
I don't go onto Sports sites and complain when they choose to cover Sport A in addition to Sport B, even if sport B is way more popular.
Next week's feature: An in-depth look at the mechanics of Super Happy China Megafriends' new game, Fantasy Mega Kill Orc Adventure 3.
MMORPG.com: News that MATTER!
Given that PLENTY of people are currently playing this on the 3 U.S. servers, it obviously matters to some. ;p
Yeah, FW is not a perfect game or anything like that and we're all bound to get bored of it at some point, but it's got some neat little things going for it imo. I'm glad to see the pet system made the list. I pets, and they're important in this game and can be skilled up even. Everyone can and should get a pet in this game.
Some honorable mentions on my personal like list:
~~a fashion tab with a still limited but growing selection of fashion outfits (covered in "a mostly fluff cash shop")
~~some of the music
~~can play a kindred, how neat is that?
~~separate starter areas for each race. The starter areas are brief, but I like that a human and a kindred and elf etc each have their own unique environment to start off in.
~~auto-party "T" function is easy and convenient if you're looking to do an instance, or just want to join a random pug and meet entirely new players outside of your guild (if you're in one).
~~guild bases are cool
~~devs have a good sense of humor. "Sebestimated" title anyone? Check out NPC Ravvi for a funny reference, or how about being asked by a quest NPC to go hunt something, and you get to respond with something like 'at least it's not killing 10 rats'.
"But when I first hit a capitol city and all I want to do is find the auctions or my trainer and it’s not plainly obvious where either is I get frustrated..."
No wonder games are being made like they are these days if even the reviewers have such a shockingly low frustration/ annoyance threshold.
No time or space for exploring and learning an area then?
No wonder games are being made like they are these days if even the reviewers have such a shockingly low frustration/ annoyance threshold.
Actually, it makes sense, in a way. Out of ALL the game players out there, reviewers are probably hit hardest by the sheer influx of MMORPGs on the market.
They don't have TIME to lollygag around, meandering and exploring... they have 50 other games they have to play just to keep up with all the releases.
another crappy asian grind mmo.. dont even get why would someone write a review about this crap.
People have already hit the level cap.
Hardly a grinder.
....and some people have no lives and enjoy bragging how they reached max level so fast
Yet another asian f2p (p2w) title. Meh, I'll pass. I don't like paying more in a "f2p" game than I would to get the same experience as a p2p game.
Yes I suppose you could be cheap and not pay anything ever and still play but do you really honestly feel the developers want you to play for free? F2p is a hook and it catches lots of ignorant people.
If it's not about Forsaken World's "uniqueness", which I hope it's not...as it isn't, then this article is rather pointless don't you think? It reads as if you're trying to exalt a new'ish' Asian Grinder MMO that no one really cares about, because the only people who actually enjoy these kinds of MASSIVE linear-quest driven grinders are Koreans or REALLY REALLY bored high/middle schoolers.
If you're going to make articles about this kind of crapshoot why aren't you making articles for every single other copy-cat clone that has come out in the past 3years? Oh wait, I forgot that adding tons of pointless micro-games that hold your attention for maybe a day make it unique & not a clone (it doesn't).

Why are you so dense on the point of these articles? The reason behind them is what is good about "that" particular game. Not what is better than other games or worse or the same. Just because a game is similar to a previous game does not make it a bad game.
I suppose that your car has no doors on it because cars that were produced before yours had doors, and it would be really crappy to copy that right?
I am not saying FW is a good game, but my goodness, stop criticizing the game for being similar to previous games. If it works, then its a good system and others should use it. Stop thinking that mmo companies need to reinvent the wheel. They just need to improve on the traction and effeciency of the wheel. That's how the genre will improve, not by getting rid of things that already work.

Then maybe they are the wrong people to be listening to?
Seriously though, if a reviewer hasnt even got the patience or time to step a little deeper into the game to relax into it, not get frustrated at not having instant access to NPCs (expecting them all to be waving at him at the city gate it seems) then he certainly hasnt got the approach to MMORPGs that I am personally looking for in a reviewer of this genre.
Lets just say me and Bill seem to be looking for very different types of game and leave it at that I guess.
I personally like this blog format alot. It gives a concise, yet adequately descriptive view of a game's pros and cons. I also enjoy the fact how each part is it's own article as it gives the reader a sense of anticipation. Although, perhaps after the two articles have been out for a while, it might be nice to merge the two pages so that a person checking out the game wouldn't have to flip back and forth between the two.

I'm currently playing Forsaken World and i can answer you by saying that you don't actually need to use real money in ingame shop to Enjoy this title. I tried a lots of f2p games just for fun but this one is really well made. Of coure if you don't like the asian mmorpg genere its not for you.
I've been playing this game for almost a week now and I love how much stuff there is to do and how easy everything is to navigate. The auto path is a really nice feature for questing. The quests aren't super hard but i feel they took the right approach with this. It's a FTP game so why make it about grinding skills and xp and not make it having fun and interacting with people. They even implement quest which force u to go out and meet people. Plus the events everyday are fun to partake in!

They lost me when I saw it was another F2P by the PW company.
I laughed when I saw that it has Vampire as a player race and a class, lets cosy up with the vampires.

This game is just boring
all is based on quest reward, when you have done daily quest you have nothing else to do
this realms system broke the game , all map is totaly emply cose the whole community is in 11 channel different
and yes this game is Pay to win cose mastery system (extremly expensive)
it can be a good game but there is 0 pvp event feature , all made to force you use $$
else you are bad , and too much based on quest
