Why all the .....? I did play GW but only recently for a week or so,I got bored of running around with NPC groups and had np picking 8 skills to press.I guess you were being ironic?.................
Maybe I got spoilt on eq2 then as you don't need to use your keyboard at all.I have access to all my abilities all the time as long as they arn't on cooldown. With thier 100% UI customization you can have as many hotbars and scale them to whatever size you want, this way you just click on the relevant icon.I just used my keyboard arrow keys for movement and mouse.
anyone who has ever pvp'd remotely seriously just heard fingernails scratching down a chalkboard
in other words, Clicking and Keyboard Turning....are bad.
The good news is, with this new game and a simplification of on demand abilities, you can learn to mouseturn and use your hot keys. Its much more enjoyable once youve got it down. Frees up your eyes to actually watch what is going on.
And since GW2 looks so much more action/dodge oriented, its a good thing to not click.

First of all, running around with npc groups equals soloing in other games. Not as fun as playing in a real group. That also tells us that you never played any PvP and only the easy stuff you in the beginning, of course you had no problem with any builds.
It is like soloing Nek forrest in Eq2 without upgrading any skills, still easy but not as fast or easy as it could be.
A run into drok with a nice group of players is a very different experience but takes a lot more skills.
I don't think you realize the point here, because you miss the complexity of the system, you only played the noob part and it sounds like you never even grouped?
What would you say if someone said the same thing about EQ2 with that experience?

you ever play any of the hard content? leme guess never even played a mission or area in hard mode .... and thats just the mid level difficulty try doing the elite missions on HM . not to mention actual pvp where the real challenge lies.
if you only played normal mode then you realy dont have much experience, let alone enough to say it doesnt take skill in putting together a good build (and dont forget putting together a build for a whole team) and then factoring in the skill of playing the build properly (playing a mesmer in pvp is hella difficult, gotta pay dam good attention to everything).
i realy doubt you played the content that requires skill if you only played a week... most mmo's dont get into the hard content that early let alone anything that requires the remotest amount of actual skill (then again i may be an exception i get all the basics down in a game within like an hour or two. in GW i still havent the faintest clue in building a build tho...)
No i didn't hardly play it like i said,i was just asking if his dots were intended to be ironic or not.Time will tell if this skill thing works for me or not,atm I don't like the idea of picking what skills to use.I can't get my head around picking some skill like you totally forget how to do others,I'm just not used to it.It may all change when i play.To answer the clicking thing I was on about PvE raiding not PvP.
My thought on the weapon system is this. Say you're playing a warrior. You are pvping. You see another warrior and switch to swords - the reason being swords cause bleed which won't be blocked by armor, so you do more damage. Say next you see a rogue. You switch to axes cause their base damage is highest and you'll do more dmg vs the rogue w/ an axe than with a sword. Say you see a caster. You want to make it so they can't cast. You switch to hammer and hit them with stuns. You damage is less than axe/sword but you can now disable.
That is how I see things working in GW2. Each weapon type will have a situation where it is the best weapon type for the fight. Fighting a lot of creatures? Switch to a 2her. Need to disable/stun? Go mace. Need max dmg? Go axe. So I think as long as implemented correctly this will make for a very interesting and dynamic fighting system. Of course, in the end we will see what happens when gw2 comes out.

No problem then, since GW1 & 2 really doesn't have raids.
GW2 do have huge DEs that can have over 100 players involved but it have no raids.
I played both GW and EQ2 for 4+ years, and I can tell you that GWs skill system actually is more complicated than EQ2s, but you have to think in a rather different way and that might take some time getting used to.
But GW2 system really opens up for customization of groups, since your skills also can buff other players skills a well oiled group will be able to work together in a way we never seen before ina MMO while PUGs probably will be rather tough. This is actually more important in PvP but if they add content with the same difficulty as the hard stuff in GW1 you will need all the edge you can get.
The bad part is that some PUGs will try to force you to play a certain way and use a specific build.

Something like that but you can only switch between 2 in combat. So to be truly succesful you need to co operate with another player to have all options covered.
It will be interesting to see how things work out.
