What game made you really get into video games? Im gonna have to tell you all not to say an MMORPG in this case as usually they don't but hey if an MMORPG got you into video games thats fine. For me it was Command And Conquer:Tiberian Sun. I asked for it for Christmas in like 4th grade and I played that game so much. I wish they would make a sequel as I don't have a copy of it anymore, it might be hard to find, and Im gonna guess that no one plays anymore.

The first games I remember playing for hours and hours where RTS games like Lords of Magic, or these civil war RTS games.
Quite probably Doom, pretty sure it was the first game i played on my PC.
cant think of anything on my C64 or anything. never really had a lot of cash to keep up to date with games/consoles/PC, so had to paly round friends a lot, so couldn't really get into much. i dont half feel old for 23 :P but things haven't half changed in my short little life span :P
my first game was the first Wolfinstein 3d, man that was fun hahaha after that i was hooked and still am today, games rule
(by hooked i mean on game not wolfenstien heh)
First game I ever played was pong. Then River Racer, Pitfall, all the good ol Atari games.
Maniac Mansion, on a friend house. We had great times back then. Also remember playing Comandos? on an Atari? That game kind of like Rambo, with guns, grenades, etc. Rocked back then.
The first video games I played was the Ultima series and I played them all.
The first online game I played was an online text adventure called, "The Sword of Boldhome". It ran on an IBM XT and could support 14 players simultaneously. When I first played we played on a 300 baud modem. It was one of the first two online multi player games ever written. And it was fun.

It's just me, so open the door.
Mystery House by Roberta Williams on my Apple II.
That got me started. I remember fondly all the adventure games that Sierra came out with.
Sadly Roberta was bought out and with a few exceptions adventure gaming is dead.
Support Bacteria, its the only culture some people have.
The first PC game i played was Crystal Caves (a scrolling platformer by Apogee), on a orange and black TFT screen 386SX laptop. Before that i used to play Space Invaders and a Lemonade selling game on an Apple IIc.
The game that really introduced me to 'gaming' was probably Super Mario World, i played that almost non-stop till i got 99*
My first (and strictly speaking only) MMORPG was Eve Online, it really was a sci fi sim rather than a sci fi game, and incredibly atmospheric. I still miss what it was, not what it has become.

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...
Super Mario Bros. 2 was the very first video game I actually played for any amount of time...
Of course I had played Atari and stuff... never really got into it all that much though... One birthday however (I believe it was my 4th or 5th) I recieved a Nintendo and one game... that game was Super Mario Bros. 2... I played that game for days and days non-stop, and within a few weeks I had completely mastered the game, as well as become addicted to gaming ^^...
tossing turnips... fuckin' great~

for me it was when i was really little andm y mom had this computer and i use to always play commander keen and fleet defender.
My old man bought me an Atari 4600 (I think that's right), when I was five...been gaming ever since.
On a side note, it was Breath of Fire that got me into RPG's. Until then it was all action/adventure games.
rogue...it all started with rogue for me...

The original Zelda back at the christmas of 86 was the first game to really get me. Me my cousin and uncle took turns playing it our entire holiday break till we beat it some time around new years. I was only 8 at the time and I found one of my great passions video games .
Game game = Civilization, and Quake
Online game = Subspace (now called Continuum) and Ultima Online
Super Nintendo was my first system. I spent a good bit of time playing Mario Kart, Mario, amd Donkey Kong. However, the first game I remember playing for hours and hours was the original Command & Conquer on Sega Saturn. That lead to me seeking out other RTS games and I found Age of Empires for the PC, which eventually got me playing online. A friend of mine from Age of Empires convinced me to try Asheron's Call. Amazing how that works.
Super Mario's World 2.

Bomberman on a friends Atari I think, or Commander Keen. I was so young that I started playing I can't really remember =P
Flych - 70 Blood Elf Retribution Paladin - Tarren Mill (EU)
Mediocre - 70 Undead Discipline Priest - Tarren Mill (EU)
My first video game is Mario Bros... then Legend of Zelda... then Diablo 1 and 2... First MMO Ultima online... which is good at first..

The game that got me really into RPGs and games in general, was my first ever RPG game. Which I still love to this day.
