Will you play Guild Wars 2 if the last profession is not mesmer?

That said, refusing to play a game because your desired class isn't in it is just plain retarded...and probably a lie. Play the game for the game, not for the few vaguely familiar spells you enjoyed from another game. Even if the mesmer is in GW2, it's likely to be a much different experience to the mesmer everyone knows, right now.

Also, it'd be no one whatsoever +1, not -1.

Well if you only want to play that single profession it may be a reason not to play the game. That said, this thread was mostly for lolz because mesmer will be the last profession for sure. And yeah it will be much different than what was in GW1 as most of the mechanics are being changed. Most likely this is why it is taking them so long to reveal the class. As they said they reveal a profession when it's ready and there's a lot of work on this one.

I would love it if the final class was something other than Mesmer.  The amount of nerd rage that has gone on over at GW2Guru over the Engineer has been ridiculous, and if the final class wasn't the Mesmer the level of bawling would be of biblical proportions.  There would be so much rage induced crying that we would be building arks to save us from all the tears.

I say bring on GW2 with no Mesmer just to watch the fallout.  I know I would be laughing my ass off.

Mesmer if by far, the most unique class in any mmo ever released. I don't see why they wouldn't add him as a class. I played mesemer back on release and it was great a experienece.

LOL. You know, OP may use this pull to convince Anet " Hey, do something new (like a druid, a God or whatever), nobody really care about mesmer".

Which is very likely this late in developement.

I'll definitely be playing, even without the mesmer, but I'll be stepping off the hype train.  Haters rejoice.

Nope! I'ma play Warrior so I'm good to go. :D

image  I will still play GW2 regardless of the Mesmer situation.  With that said, I will be extremely disappointed if either (A) the Mesmer is not present on Day 1 or (B) is not added later via content update or expansion pack.  I would be surprised if the Mesmer got dropped all together considering it is Guild Wars' one truly unique class.  In the end I think you'll see all the classes return except maybe Assassin and Paragon (since Thief and Guardian are basically an updated version of both) as expansions get released.  I know everyone is hoping the Mesmer will be the final class, and considering Mesmer was one of my two mains in Guild Wars 1 I am too, but as long as it gets thrown in at some point I'll be happy.  The same thing goes for the Dervish (my personal favorite as far as soldier type classes).  I would play GW2 even if they ditched the Mesmer and Dervish entirely but I find that to be highly unlikely.  As I said you may not see the Mesmer on day 1 but rest assured you will see it at some point.

Well then I guess you're going to miss out on a great game, seeing as teh last class, whatever it is, is a returning one. Whatever it is, be in mesmer or anything else, will be something that was in Guild Wars 1, and as both Elona and Cantha are closed of to the world....well, it's a dead horse at this point, I'm sure people can put it together even if they're too hard-headed to admit to it.

Yes I will play, but I'd be disappointed. Not because it wasn't a mesmer, but because they kept stringing people along with hints and hopes for it just to get to the end and be like 'lol nah just kidding.' That would be mean-spirited.

Of course I'd still play it. I'd be pretty upset, but I'd still play it. I bet, though, that there would be an unholy shitstorm if the mesmer was not the last class.

    WTF? No subscription fee?

Pretty sure we don't have to worry about that, but I will definitely still play because my main will be a guardian.

As pointless as it may be, I'm still hoping that the last profession is NOT the mesmer... all I want is a Monk! *sniffles* Is that too much to ask?

  • KalferKalfer Member Posts: 779

I am okay with them adding Mesmer but I hope the scope and visual feel of the profession will expand. I thought in GW1, that they did not have enough diversity.

If it's own profession, like Necromancer, it really has to have a solid fundation and culture for it's magic use. Fancy leather pants and some Robin mask is not enough.

What melee weapons could a mesmer wield? perhaps a physical rifle or bayonette type staff/gun combo. I don't mind them thinking outside the box, but it needs to make sense... how would a charr mesmer look like or a norn mesmer? Some more refinery in the artwork needs to happen I think.

I also hope it will have less neon and purple glow spells and something that seperates it visually from Elementalist and Necromancer as a caster.

I think Monk had more visual identity. the martial arts hand to hand Avatar:-the last airbender angle / journey to the west angle, always seemed to me to be the next logical step in spreading out the possibilities of what they could be. but that is also because robes, are so cool and come in so many variations, where mesmer with their barogue style clothing is more so-so.

while i liked mesmer in gw1 i dont want the mesmer class instead of copying their own class from guildwars 2 they should make classes that no one ever heard or seen in any other game becouse in my point of vieuw if you make something new it gotta be really new.

but the mmo industry is very unorigional so mesmer it is.

  • CacaphonyCacaphony Member Posts: 738

Yeah, I will play if the last profession is not the Mesmer.  Im interested in most of the classes anyway, and my main will most likely be a Warrior or Guardian.  Personally.. I do not really have much interest in the Mesmer anyway.

What a stupid question, of course! I'd play anything by Anet :)

Yes. I don't really play casters so it won't effect me, and for those that it does, they could always add the class in an expansion.

    It'll be the Mesmer....

A better question is why would anyone want to play a mesmer...

  • dageezadageeza Member Posts: 578

Anet has my full trust and support so yeah i will buy and play this game from day 1 with or without the mesmer...

    Playing GW2..

  • VaultFairyVaultFairy Member UncommonPosts: 566

Regardless if it is the Mesmer or not, i'd still be buying it.

I WILL be playing this game.. Even if they make me shave my head - tie my hands behind my back and face-punch my keyboard!!  :D

Seriously, it doesn't matter to me atm. As long as the game is stable.

Ever since the announcement of the Engineer I've been drifting more and more away from the Mesmer... I was drawn to the Mesmer due to its uniqueness, but the Engineer ticks all the right boxes for me, even enough for my main to be an Engie. I mostly wanted to play something off the wall, and going by the reactions of the Engineer, the Engineer will suit my purposes nicely.

it should be a spell caster, a mesmer, enough said.
