Obviously your interest is in GW2. So what does GuildWars 2 have that distinguishes itself from the other free games?
Caremuchless, I know you're having a hard team with some of these fellas. But technically, being free can be the main reason.
It seems you are ONLY comparing it the F2P games, and thats why you don't understand them.
Being B2P means the cost is lower for us, correct?
Let's say for example that we are not comparing free games, but comparing mmo's of AAA quality. So for example, you are given the top AAA titles in no order. (These do not represent MY top mmo list, just a random one.)
WoW
Aion
Rift
Lotr
GW2
SW:ToR
All of those could be enjoyed. So if all those games are a fun factor of say 9 out of 10. Or the quality value is rated at 9 for all of those games... I would choose GW2. My main reason? I get more for my dollar , or as one could put, it's cheaper. Cheaper also meaning no monthly fee.
Edit: Forgot to mention my reason. I'm playing for the $100,000 tournament that's being held.
No monthly fee. I wouldn't even bother with a free trial if it had a monthly fee. Someone gave me a WOW free trial disc last year. Have no intention of even opening it. I don't do subscriptions.
Where's the "combat" section in this? Everything else is merely a side feature. The most important one is mobile combat that doesn't require certain roles. Seriously, I wouldn't touch this game if they didn't let you cast while moving, if positioning didn't matter, and if combat resembled LoTRO.
(Though WoW combat's fine because the movement animations are very fluid and responsive. LoTRO was stand still for a second after you cast, short delay before you cast, etc. Crap!)
It's made by ArenaNet. They are the only company who makes MMO/Online RPGs that I have seen be absolutely faithful to their community. Not everyone will like the changes they made during the course of the game. This is debateable, and people are split if they like the nerfs/buffs to the game during the last 6 years.
ArenaNet could have just released the expansions and called it a day, but they did so much for free... For no charge over so many years. They really are amazing, and awesome. For me it's just about playing their next product, as I want to support them.
Voted for "No subs', but lore and art, and combat, are also a big reason why I want to play gw2
"I am the harbinger of hope. I am the sword of the righteous. And to all who hear my words, I say this: What you give to this Empire, I shall give back unto you." -Empress Jamyl Sarum I
If the reason you picked doesn't set it apart from other games, then how can it be the number 1 reason.
Are you going to go on about how having no subscription fee can't be someone's number 1 reason to like the game again?
For your information, GW2 having no subscription actually does set it apart from other MMOs (notice I didn't say game). Most other MMOs with the quality of GW2 require you to buy the game then fork over $15 every month if you want to ever play it again. Most free MMOs don't have the quality that GW2 already has. Therefore, GW2 having no subscription does set it apart from other MMOs.
Because instead of trying to copy other MMOs like we keep getting, they're throwing the whole thing out the window and doing things their way. Instead of the normall vanilla MMO + Feature "X" formula, they're going with whatever they think will be FUN!
It's a combination of the combat, the way structured pvp works, World vs World vs World sounds like it should be good, and PvE might just be interesting in this game, and no monthly fee.
i recently quit wow it has consumed alot of my time and it felt like i didnt accomplish nothing, all it was to me was a faceroll to the next patch, i pretty much rushed the game i guess cause i dont know much about wow lore and i have 9 lvl 85's. the pvp on my fire mage is what kept me around my last remaining days.
i tried a rift trial and it was ok for a bit but the only good feeling i got out of it was the rift invasions, i would run around healing everyone,i wish they had made the trial level cap higher so i could try out a instance, but i was able to try out the pvp, and the pvp imho was lol?
i was interested at archeage as my next game but it dosnt appeal to me anymore for some reason,
guild wars 2 look like its gonna be my new home, it looks promising to me, i may buy extra copies for my other friends as well,
so the number 1 reason for me to play this game is dynamic effects

Oh so its the quality of the mmo AND THE B2P model that sets it apart. Your words not mine.

You seem to have a problem with people deciding that GW2 being B2P is the greatest factor in why they are looking forward to it. May I ask why?
I'm playing it for the chicks.

Combat>all
You should'nt have "No monthly fee" as an option. It has nothing to do how the game plays and the features in it. Please delete it from the poll.
This exactly /
Why? That's my reason for playing it.
No monthly fees.
I don't rent games. Especially those with a high price.
The combat. Finally! An open-world MMORPG that has twitchy combat! You can dodge things and, it seems, manually aim :P
Anyone else tired of watching your character fight?
I agree with darlok, its a combination of things starting with no monthly fee and moving on down into the lore/classes and combat..
You just cant go wrong with anet they are the true visionary next gen mmo game company...
Playing GW2..

#1 reason, nonstandard quest grinding (followed closely by B2P)
Couldnt find my reason so I opted for Music. Seemed like the silliest choice on a silly poll. Dont get me wrong, polls are fun but can be silly too.
My main reason is : I play all the new games. Maybe not at launch..but i will try them all eventually.
No matter how cynical you become, its never enough to keep up - Lily Tomlin
Dynamic Events and Non-Holy Trinity combat are pretty huge reasons for me.
The combat system where you don't play ''Click, target, attack & Watch UI'' kind of gameplay.
You watch the game, you react trough the actual game & gameplay not trough UI.
No tank/healer/DPS choices on classes prolly becomes on second.
The music will prolly be awesome, The artwork of the game looks awesome, Arenanet looks really awesome, The list could go on and on....
I just hope the PvP will be fun and rich of its content @ endgame, that's my main wish of the game
#1 reason I'm going to play GW2: When I read the reviews after the game comes out and I like what the reviews say. I don't fall for the hype.
Voted for "No subs', but lore and art, and combat, are also a big reason why I want to play gw2
