I can see why you would like the old horizons idea, it was great, but I don't see whats wrong with the new idea.  I think it will be cool to be able to free the subjugated races, rp as dragons, and explore the vast crafting system.  As far as the graphics go, I don't remember the old graphics but the new ones look pretty good.  I'm sorry they don't have angles and vampires, but vampires could be a future subjugated race.  Remember they need something to put in an expansion pack!

You should get Everquest it's a load of fun and alot of hours to kill, but will cost a couple of bucks to get the newest version because their is like 10 expansions to get and like a new one every 5 months or so plus EQ2 is coming out so too many EQ games out. But still worth getting.

If you have trouble finding group in DAoC try to change servers till you find one that is more active for low levels.

Hibs as a general observation tends to have more new chars for some reason.

Also try quest a bit the early quest in DAoC are fun before it turns to horse rides quest so try not to miss it.Albion seems to  have  more quest.

Save your points from early levels and decide what you plan to be .

If you need help ask in the cities (don't beg) you will usually get loads of help.

Try and do task from the guards this give good exp and you can level fast.

Remember to go try RvR in one of the lower realm battlefields when you hit about 20 to give you a taste.

EQ- yes new version coming out containing all the expansion for less then the price of SWG

Horizons-well I made the point about the new graphics just to illustrate that they are ready to change with times and not be static which is exactly what shadowbane was-static.

I like the new graphics but its all down to taste but i think it would be a strain on system specs.

1ghz ,256ram,geforce2 is about the minimum specs .I hear 1.4ghz ,512 ram and geforce3 is more dead on  if you want to avoid lag.The graphics looks like it needs that but would be yet another mmrpg forcing people to upgrade.

Its cookie-cutter, with certain bad implementationg, 1. No usable loot off of monsters

    2. Player run economy, player only crafted items, etc. Tried it in EQ2, and SWG, sounds nice and all, but trust me, it sucks

    3. Subjugated races, (if they keep the same ones) wouldnt fit into storyline, because the ones that werent implemented were next in line to dragons.

    4. Found subjugated races you were most likely have to pay for in an expansion, so its nothing cool or nothin, its just, pay for more content, every MMRPG does it.

    5. It lacks originality like the old idea.

only reason alot of people are re-rolling in hibernia is because many servers have the /level 30 command. if you're just staerting out hibernia is a terrible realm to start, the newbie zones are pretty damn empty almost all of the time. start in albion, alot of new players choose albion because it is the only realm they can identify with.

    a lot, not alot

anyway, yea i was on albion, and it was PACKED! many people do play DAOC, but i still don't place it higher than my experience with EQ

Hey I decided to dig up a thread from the very end of this forum, one that sounded kind of interesting still today.  It was originally posted about four years ago.  Before WoW and before EQ2.  The question was what game to play.  Back then the number of choices you had could be counted on one hand.  The big debate was between EQ and DAoC.  But Horizens and Shadowbane were also mentioned (two games which I never played and know nothing about).

It was over a year before the release of WoW and EQ2, but even then they are mentioned in a couple places and their release eagerly anticipated.  A blast from the past.  My how things change.  Wonder if this thread will get any new action now that it's been brought to the front of the line.

    1.  Necroing old threads is against some rules somewhere here.

    2.  When you think about it, nothing has changed since then.  People still ask the same question once or twice a week, "Is Eq2, WoW, Daoc... could to play for a few months till AoC, War... come out?

Kinda sad when 4 years have gone by and people are still asking the same questions for basically, well not basically at all but exactly the same game.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is bad.

Kindly show me in the TOS where it says "Don't necro post", I think you may wanna head back to Orpg or something.
