Is BW going to make us run flashpoints, PVP, operations OVER AND OVER?

technically they can't make you do anything, you choose what you want to do based on what you want out of a game. if what you want involves grinding then you choose to do that. however its impossible to tell at this point if they will be setup so you continuously have to run them like in other games. and it is unlikely we will know this until either open beta or release
They are going to give you diversity. All the things you said are repeatable, but you are not forced to do it. And flashpoints atm are limited to 1 run per day, per flashpoint so you can't farm gear and other stuff.
Other than that, you can craft, search for resources in the world, hang-out with people in cantinas, create alts and see other stories, etc. You choose if you want to grind or not, nobody is forcing you!
I think you can mostly do what you want.
If you're into PVP, you can do that. Of course, you can do the obvious stuff, run flashpoints, raids, et al.
They also mention you can make crafting a "job" and be a very dedicated crafter. I would suspect this would have an impact on the economy, so you could probably make that a full time gig at level cap.
Apart from that.. Im not sure... but what else would you be expecting?
No this is an MMO you dont have to grind, just log in and enjoy end game, see you in game!
naw...they are going to hand everything over to you on a silver platter...thats what kids want these days.
How else are you suppose to level??
So, you want to run a flashpoint what? once,? twice? three times? How many times should you have to run it before you get all the drops?
You dont have to do any flashpoint you dont want too, but if you want a certain drop, and rng is at play, then you have to grind as little or as often as you want to.
This is an mmo, and grind seems to be confused with effort these days. ITs not a grind to require yout o actually play the damn game.

Either you are going to grind or you will run out of content...
Just like every other MMO (or game) ever released.
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
It's a themepark, of course you'll grind - alot!
There is grinding and there is GRINDING. I have no problem grinding levels and endgame if it is presented in a fun way with quests and a good story. Heck, VO will probably help a lot here. I do not enjoy the GRINDING of games like WoW though that are weak in those elements.
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
Thank you very much.
And folks keep in mind, wether or not an activity is grinding is subjective.
Im pretty sure wow is based 100% of everquest, which is the king of quest based grinding....
What are you talking about?
WoW is the traditional western MMO, easy level grind, with the focus being on grinding for loot.. which means farming instances and raids.

You will be chained to your desk until level 50 and will be charged extra for bathroom breaks. There will be no pvp except for self flagulation.
Archlinux ftw
Implying that you don't grind in any other type of MMO?
I for one tend to do mostly PvP and crafting at end game as well as experience other class stories.
NO SWTOR will have no "grinding" you log in , and choose your level and stats and gear, dont even need to kill one thing and your maxxed out if you wish, enjoy.
there will be some grinding of the same dungeons also the grind wont be nearly as bad as in sandboxes
Well to be fair, there will be many ways to run the same flashpoint. Choices will change the layout and bosses you will face. So it will be worth it to run more than once with different choices. Also, some side quests may have drops you may want. But the drop part is unknow, just the fact that you can change the flashpoint based on group choices.
To the OP, if you mean grind XP, then yes. You will have to level from 1 to 50 by earning XP. But there will be many ways to do this. You will not be locked into just your class story. There will be open world quests, world quests, flashpoints, exploration XP, PvP XP, Space combat mini-game XP and yes grinding on mobs for XP.
From what we have seen in video. It looks like you will be sent out into the open world for your quest. Along the way you will find side quests or open world quests. Also, just by entering an area you haven't seen, you will get XP along with a side quest or kill quest that completes by doing what is required. No need to run back to a NPC for all the side quests.
But according to the devs, the higher you get in level, the more need for grouping there will be to see all the content. So level 1 to 10 will be about 60 % solo where the higher level will be about 10% solo. You can still get to level cap through your class quest and open world quests solo, but you will miss alot of content doing so at higher levels. But one thing you will never see is the need to grind on mobs to get to a level to complete your story arc. Story will be everywhere along with quests. But the choice will be yours as to how you go about playing the game.
How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder, without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better, and not the world about them?

And there is no grinding in sandbox games?

As opposed to what happens in Sandboxes? No grind in eve?
In fact, isn't grinding the core feature of a sandbox game?
My impression so far is that there will be plenty of content available to keep you busy while levelling.
Isn't there 240 hours of leveling per character?
I..err..what?
I was talking about endgame. Kind of how DCUO did it; very lam. I think Rift followed the same formula.

We'll know more about end game at E3 but I would say the grind would be minimal seeing as how some of the best armor in the game can be crafted, and that the gains in gear for PvP aren't so massive that you are forced to grind hours on end just to be competitive as player made gear will be able to close the gap substantially.
I think more people will work towards different styles of gear and character builds. There are a lot of different types of gear to get, like social gear, player made only, drops, PvP and so on. Sure you'll have people who will try and grind out all of this type of gear, but I think it would be possible to work towards multiple sets just going through the content. It only becomes a real grind if you absolutely have to do repetitive things to stay competitive. That doesn't look like something BioWare is forcing.
