This sort of attack falls under cyberterrorism and will be delt with as so.

The sad thing is.. theis poor shmucks don't know what they are getting them selves into.

I hope for their sake that they are not doing this from within the USA. If so they are extremely fubar when they get caught.

A true group of hackers would not brag about doing DoS attacks on people. They would hack and release said information without leaving a trail. That is a true hacker... To take information from one location and display it on another location without leaving a trail, thats something to see.

**** I don't think we will be seeing to much more from theis guys for to much longer... they will find them selves in a small room with a bright light shining on them. ****

The people who play EVE Online aren't pushovers and CCP is friends with quite alot of Alliances. I would imagine Goonswarm, NC and RED Overlord would have people in their ranks who would have the capability to play with Lulz in return.

    Sorta like this: http://lulzsecurity.com/releases/ ?

Only thing missing from your equation is the "no trail" part, but to their credit, and supposing those 'releases' aren't fabricated, they seem to have some level of ability to do more then DDoS. Agree though, the flame that burns twice as bright lasts half as long....

I don't understand why they executed a DDoS attack, though. Can you even acquire information that way? I thought a DDoS attack simply flooded a network with so much traffic that it can't keep up, slows down, or resets entirely.

What is the benefit for anybody to DDoS anybody except to shut them down for awhile?

This has nothing to do with exposing vulnerabilities anymore. This is pure vandalism. Their reason (lulzsec) for attacking CCP was Dust. Its made for PS3 and they hate Sony, so they attack CCP.

They dont give a shit about the customers that get hurt in their way. Everytime they stole customer data, they posted it as a .torrent file. There is nothing noble about their way of working. They act like some gang which messes with anyone they dont like,

The servers have been put offline to investigate if more has been done. Also keep in mind that Lulzsec is not just about exposing security holes. They attack companies they dont like with whatever is necessary. Senate website was not attacked to expose a security hole for example.

You're right. If it was a company that relied on 100% uptime (i.e. it could lose money if it came down for an extended period of time), a DoS attack would be a problem. This is nothing more than an inconvenience that, as you can see, has rallied a hell of a lot of people against these pizza-faced script kiddies calling themselves LulzSec.

Here's my solution for discouraging hackers of game sites:

Drop them in the middle of E3 or any comuter convention with a sign on their backs, I Hacked Sony or I hacked Eve. then lock the doors.

I guarantee, after a few broken mangled bodies show up outside those doors, hackers will think twice.

Blizzard, then  SOE and now CCP. Am I the only 1 to think a major hole in the basic coding of mmo games has been found and exploited?

Didnt mean to say it was just mmo's. Obviously, a major hole in basic general coding is being exploited.

Lol,the fact that I have 10 beers in me and can still see the pattern is not a good thing regardless of what I actually type means ALL coding of any type is suspect. :P

Although sad and unfortunate, I bet SONY is breathing a sigh of relief about now and saying thank god it happened to another big game company. My thoughts on that is basically like saying, hey see we are not the only ones vulnerable and now the spotlight is off us. So yeah I think SOE SONY is like good it happened to someone else.

Besides that, these guys are just criminals who will be caught eventually.
