WoW is still the "king", per se, but who knows how long that will be. Yes, I do still play WoW. This is not a fanboy thread. WoW, in my opinion, has peaked and I think (my opinion) CAT did not offer much. There will be a 4th expansion, duh, and I think that this expansion is pivotal. I think that this expansion needs to blow us, the gamers, away. For shits and giggles, what do you think should be done to keep a player base and/or make people come back?
For me, I want: New races (2, at least,), new classes (2 at least), more content, and more non-kill "this" quests. Since WoW started we haven't got many new races, we also haven't got jack for classes. As for "more contect" we need more...and I mean moooooreee. Quests? Just make them fun, again. I, and only me, judge the 4th expansion (whatever it may be) as being very pivotal to the game. But at the same time Blizzard might not really care since the focus is now on Titan (which is fine) but this 4th expansion (Emerald Dream? maybe...probably not, actually) needs to have the content of BC/LK/CAT combined + more.
So whats your opinion?

Hope i dont go all over the place with this reply, but i personally think they need to do something to totally change things. My opinion is that WoW was best when BC was the only expansion and things were good. Lich King was fun and all, but with all the death knights running around everywhere and all else, things seemed to get stale. It was the first time i quit wow was half way during Lich King. A good thing though is that Blizzard has implimented in many new features during Lich King, and Cata, that has helped alot, but to me it just seems that WoW has lost something in the process of Lich King and Cata. Correct me if I am wrong. I like the 1-60 leveling still, but i cannot stand outlands and northrend anymore. I think its the fact that you spent years in the same areas grinding and farming mats that you just dont want to level there anymore. I think there needs to be something added with the new expansion that gives people something more to do, not just time consuming but actually FUN. RIFT did this to an extent with the rifts, giving players something to do besides just quest, grind, or raid. I am just elaborating off the top of my head here so this isnt anything amazing im throwing out there. anyone agree with me? disagree?
Yeah I agree, WoW could definitely benefit with some more dynamic content to mix stuff up. I would also like some more player driven content. Right now, I feel like the auction-house is the biggest piece of player-driven content in WoW. And while I think that WoW has the best auction house of any game, you can only shop for so long...
IMO you can only do so many quests before you want to shoot yourself in the face.
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
Yeah I totally agree. Now that im thinking about it more, about 90% or more of the players of WoW have played for atleast an expansion or two. WoW is great on getting people to play it.....but for WoW veterans like me who have played since BC, we know how the game works. We know all the shortcuts, easy things, we know the game up and down. While Blizzard has added more things to make leveling easier and stuff.....we arent just satisfied with content anymore. Thats why after being hyped for Cata since Lich King came out, when it finally DID come out, everyone is bored of it by now. We fly through the leveling and the dungeons and end up with the same game again. Know what i mean? I played cata for about 2 months then i stopped again for a while because i had finished all the new stuff, seen it all. WoW was WoW again, just with a few new places added and 2 races.
Continuing with their tradition, I think they are going to make one more class and have it start at level 65. I hear they are revamping the Outlands for the expansion, adding new areas and content - doing the same thing they did to Azeroth with Catalysm. I think the class will begin at level 65, and the level cap will increase to 90. What do I think they should do? Well, ignoring Cata, I think they should have added ten new levels for Cata and the fourth expansion, making the new character levels 100, and, ignoring WotLK, they should have made death knight, but make it start at level 1 instead of 55. And they should have never revamped the talent system, it sucks now.
True Cata did nothing for the vets but that was not it's purpose, It's purpose was for retention of new players to wow. Now one must wonder if they will lose vets due to the time it will take to pacify them with new content.

I have read a few articles that go along with what you just said actually. Blizzard has noticed that alot of veteran players are cancelling their subscriptions due to that reason. There isnt any more new concent to hold them to the game, so they quit. I am one of them. I have recently become almost a seasonal player. The game will take hold of me for a few months, then drop me for twice as long.
I think that is the reason they came out and said that content in the future will be smaller but with a very short turn around. They probably would like to keep the old formula of large exp's but they know that this is not the time for that sort of thing.
The wolves are hungery and need to be fead now.

Huge Gold sink -> Housing
To me I didnt have the 4 hours to raid, and the 40 minute Heroics (if they went well) took most of the daily time I had. They need something fun to do that isn't super time consuming. I'm not saying make it the main focus because I'm sure a lot of players do have the time for more involved activities. But time management was an issue and if they worked that out I would probably re-sub.
They should have made a new Island 1-60, instead of screwing up the old content. Also the leveling is wayyyy to fast, I cant see ever coming back !
I only know of one logical expansion for WoW after battling the gods and the makers.
The return to the remaining shards of the Outland and the final battle with the Legion. I believe it's the best and final expansion vanilla WoW has. Azeroth and the Outland will be turned into a warzone. Sargeras and Kil'Jaeden will take part for the final assault. I can already picture the chaos if it happen. Epic end to an epic game. IMHO
If Blizzard wants me to return as their loyal customer, they need to remove certain things currently in-game and step up their game. Polished alternatives are present and many more and better games are coming out soon enough. Meaning I have better alternatives then to invest in a game where the developer clearly does not have a happy customer as their main goal.
- Remove Flying Mounts: They destroy world pvp, make the world feel small and questing trivial.
- Make the Guild Level System more flexible: Allow players to switch guilds easily again.
- Allow people to do both 10 and 25 man raids again: I had to pick between my friend group and my raiding guild.
- Implement 'premium' services for free: They make roughly 850 million every year on this game.
- Stop rehashing content: I enjoyed DM, ZG, ZA, SFK and all the other things they recycle without shame. I prefer new stuff.
- Return of world-bosses: Best raiding experiences from Vanilla came from world bosses.
- Update textures of old races: My human is starting to look really bad compared to my new goblin.
- Stop destroying PvE for PvP balance: Just give everyone the same stats the moment they enter a BG or Arena Match.
- Stop making old end-content useless: Decrease the impact of tier-based loot.
- Get rid of the activision attitude.
I would never return. simple reason is that Blizzard will do anything to maintain the customer base while minimising the investment. They only care about the numbers of players and getting the maximum $. If they perceive that a change will bring in more numbers then they will do it, they do not however integrate those changes to maintain the experience for existing players - change or be damned is what they say. If they cared they would invest more of the huge profit on analysis and game design to satisfy the full player base. As a result the game & in particular the community is the mess you see today. Loyalty is a two way street as they say.

revert the entire game back to 1.10 and have time locked progression server up to naxx 1.10 only way i would ever play wow again bc-cat sucked vanilla before bgs the game was perfect.
For me it would have to be a pretty significant expansion. I'm talkin about raising the level cap to 100, giving players 15 new levels to advance. I would like to see 2 new hero classes and 1 new race that can be played by each faction. I'm thinkin they would have to add a new continent also. I'm not sure what the 2 new classes should be, but I think a monk-type class would be nice. EQ had tons of classes to choose from so I'm sure the creative geniuses at Blizzard can come up with a couple good ideas.
If they just do another 5 levels of advancement like they did for cata i don't think too many players would fork out the cash to just get a measely 5 levels. Wow has peaked and is now on a slow downward spiral so they need to do somthing huge to pull players back in. 15 levels and a couple new classes might be enough.
Open the world up. Delete all instances. Make another faction.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
Those are excellent ideas. In addition, delete the dungeon finder,(guess that would come with deleting instances), make world pvp more relevant than BGs, overhaul the graphics....maybe enjoyable after these.
I personally would like to see improved graphics, more races/classes, a indepth combat system, a alernate leveling system so that I dont have to create a new character when I hit endgame, plenty of high level content so that I am not just logging on to run a few different raids or instances then wait on a lock out timer, variety of top level gear so I can mix/match equipment to have a build I particularly enjoy playing for PVE/PVP, quests that give unique items that are useful throughout any level and such is never outdated or worthless everytime a new game expansion or content is added in, a dozen + more mount options and that I am not only restricted to only a few, much less ass-hattery from players when we are grouping or attempting to complete content, much more indepth story line that is immersive to the players and actively evolves as new content is added and isnt just veiwed as a new cash crop for greedy "needers", a ingame voting system that players above a certain level are only able to utilize where the community agrees and allows active communication to the DEVs.....
Yeah, I'll just go back to playing EQ1.
I would love to see a whole graphic update for the game and new races/classes

Fire Ghostcrawler.
The game now is simply a lobby game. There is no reason to leave the cities other than complete their list of "daily" chores. They need to make a reason for people to immerse themselves in the huge world they have created. I remember running around in Vanilla just doing stuff. I honestly don't remember specifics other than having a blast in Silithis. What I do remember is the word "daily" did not exist. And my main concern wasn't chain running instances for all them "phat lewts".
The problem is, the way the community is now, I'm not sure if that is possible. People need to care about the lore and world they're spending all their time in, and that just isn't prevalent now.
Make Goldshire into a 25 man raid.
They need to get rid of all the things that made the game conveinient. They might as well delete all content outside of city walls because it's not needed. Get rid of the cross faction, cross server, cross whatever else there might be and whatever you have on your server is it. Make it so you have to run places again. I remember having to run to the actual cave in the Alterac Mountains to queue for that BG. Sure increase insentives for the roles that aren't played so often (Tank and Healer of course). What were devs thinking when they did all this cross over servers, factions crap anyways? I mean, their game has literally millions of subscribers and this is the idea they came up with? Make WORLD of Warcraft impersonal and nothing about the world? MMOs are about interaction, exploration and taking on things bigger than yourself, not standing around a city waiting to replay content over and over, while not even talking to the people in your group because things have gotten so routine.
For the 4th xpac, Blizzard needs to get WoW back to basics and by basics, I mean Vanilla. You give players all these fancy things to get around when there's no need for them. The only reason you should need to queue up to find another player is if you have 4 people in a group and you need a dps, not I queue as a dps for 45 min to then get into a crappy group and have to start waiting all over again.
All WoW is nowadays is waiting and redundancy, which endgame can be some times, but WoW is at the inifinte degree of this.
Make it an open ended world that is driven by player actions.
I bet that would throw the playerbase into a loop.
