People who've seen my posts before are probably sick of me mentioning this, but one game that should be on that list is Citadel Of Sorcery: http://www.citadelofsorcery.com/
This game has a quest system where characters have their own unique storyline, and no quest can ever be repeated. The designers said they met with numerous publishers at E3 and found a high rate of interest in the game. Some of them were amazed at what CoS has to offer players.
I guess I should put a little more into my posts so they don't just read like a repeating ad, but I like to be quick and to the point in what I'm trying to say .
hmm so 9 titles. Lets exclude dust since its practically an addon to Eve.
So 8 titles, Most likely 2 of them will do quite well, 2 of them will likely fail completely and be gone within 12-18 months. The remaining 4 will likely end up Niche games and eventually Freemium.
Im looking at the next few years of mmos being launched and this is what I see:
The Secret World
ArcheAge
Blade & Soul
Tera
Guild Wars 2
Star Wars: The Old Republic
World of Darkness
Dust 514/EvE
Undead Lab's Zombie mmos
I look at that list and I see rich selection of unique settings, combat styles, quest systems, end game options, social dynamics, and art direction. If you cant find something you like out of that list, Id say this genre is not for you.
I see a rich selection of titles that sound good on paper, nothing more. I will agree that the potential exists for the genre to get a lot better if these titles are as good as the hype makes them sound. Unfortunately the same could have been said at the beginning of 2010. Here's to hoping that things end up being as good as they look right now.
I see an impressive list with lots and lots of potential but I've been there so many times and be utterly decieved by the choices the game developers made and screw the player base and their games royally.
But I see ArenaNet,CCP and XL games to be the one who can really make things move.
In the land of Predators, the lion does not fear the jackals...
