Hey, I've only started looking into this game yesterday. It looks excellent.
Anyway, i've read up on the Sylvari race abit and found out that they underwent a redesign. Can anyone tell me/show me what they look like now or is the redsigned version what they look like in the races preview video?

We don't know yet! Many of us are on tenterhooks about that.
I'll be a tad different then everyone in roleplay though, since my Charr will have faith in either the "human gods" or the spirits of the wild. A Charr that actually believes in gods may be weird but with every single race there must be a abnormality, like with the Charr in GW;EN that believed that there were no gods.
This is true. I am merely playing my part in this epic story that shall be told (hopefully before 2012!). My character will hate the charr at first. Whether or not he will warm up to them is really up to the players I meet in game and what influences they have on me.
If I happen to join a party that has a charr in it and he/she saves my life, then I could start to lean to at least joining the charr in battle.
Never will I trust them though.
They are gonna have she charr?? How the HELL are we gonna be able to tell them apart?? I'm scared now.
For me, I go where the snow falls, in every game. Norn, the only option.
Charr. Glorious, magnificent, bestial charr. All the way. I'm eventually going to branch out into the other races, but I've simply become smitten with the charr. They're amazing.
Sarizar Geargrinder, Sinera Mindshaper, Kajira Shadowstorm, and Rakmarr Thunderbutt (now how would one get a name like that?) will be my mains for the longest time. I'm simply enthralled by what the charr are. A paradigm shift. Something truly new and different. Gimme!
The only race that resisted an charr offensive without walls or such were the Norn....and they dont even have an army, what proves that 1 Norn = 10 Charrs
Norn have no need of armies, we are Norn!
Gah! Misinformation! I hate it! Go read up on this. The charr weren't devoting an army (only that of one legion even) to this, if they had the lore actually states that the charr would've wiped them out easily (this is actually said). Because they were distracted, they were sending warbands at them, which are small, small groups of charr. The numbers were actually fairly even. If the charr had devoted one legion's forces toward the norn, they would've wiped them out right away. (Again, the lore says this, not me.)

Here:
"Although it is certain the Charr could have destroyed the Norn resistance if they but turned their entire army—or even one full legion—to the cause, warbands and smaller raiding parties could not overcome the individual strength of the Norn. These initial skirmishes taught both sides to respect the strength of the other."
And keep in mind that this was pre-full scale charr industrial revolution. They're many more times powerful now. Tanks and all.

Okay, one more. You may not remember, dinams, but I remember that there were a number of norn NPCs in Eye of the North who were scared shitless of the charr. But I don't recall that feeling ever being noted on the charr side of things. :P
I'm gonna be Sylvari (Ranger!) for sure, I'm a sucker for races that like nature and water. They are also very cute and I like the idea of armor made of leaves and flowers.
I'm sure I will NEVER be a Charr. I mean, I don't want to be a hairy animal girl thing... Uh, are there female Charrs anyways? O.o; I hope not. ^^;
...and why are Charrs so overrated? They are ugly. :c

I think Charr look cool but I dislike their animations. Asura actually look pretty neat with their updated look, the ears and head are smaller and now they look distinct, and less like Mogwai. But they're pretentious and a bit absurd, so playing one is also at the bottom of the list.
For me, it's all about how the armor looks, and so far the armor looks best on humans and Norn. Sylvari armor is yet to really be seen, but their plant-like concept art makes them unique and not very elven at all (actually it reminds me more of a Breath of Fire character). The only thing about the Norn that irks me are the men ;- As an artist, I'm sort of a stickler for proportion, and their legs are so friggin stumpy as compared to the scale of the rest of the body. My Norn will be female.

Wow, the Asuran were in 2nd place and now they are last, even lower than humans. Things really change with 30 votes.

Human and Norn.. also waiting on the new Sylvari reveal though.

Human and I might get to play sylvari later, but Human will be my main <(-^.¨-)>
Charr here.

Charr female and male are both badass
I would be a charr in fact there are Everlasting Tonics in the game that allows you to look like a certain race and I own 7 types of them yay.

In MMOs i'm always the elf-ish race... so in this case, i'll be a SYLVARI!!! FTW!!

I want to reborn as a Sylvari.
UUUUGGGGGGUUUUUU!
Alot will roll Sylvari as well!
Human > Sylvari > Norn > Charr/Asura

Asura necromancer for my main; LOVE the whole technomagic thing.
Will have a sylvari ranger and charr guardian as well though.
I don't usually enjoy playing boring humans, or overgrown humans (norn).
Thinking it will be furry.
Charr, then Norn. Easy pick.

A proud Human warrior that defend all Humanity in Tyria.
Most Definitely Charr. They were the coolest race from the first game and now that their backstory has been expanded its a really compelling choice.
----ITS A TRAP!!!----
I like both the Norn and Sylvari. One thing is for certain - it will be a ranger...
Norn Warrior for sure! Nordic vikingesque monster in big badass armor leaping across the battlefield Eviscerating people in the face. Hell yeah!
Ditto.
Asura!
