hmm...well...as long as they dont blame the games for the accident. the title of the story does sort of imply that online gaming is to be blamed for this, which is just complete bs.
Infant could have just as well died if they were away for 1 or 2 hours as they originally planned. Sad story but has nothing to do with mmorpgs, only horrible parents.
NOOOO but then we wouldnt have any more exuses left for bad parenting stoopid people dont deserve kids if they neglect them that bad almost as bad as the lady who left her child in a car in the garage and was playing eq .
Sounds to me like evolution at work... Why wouldn't the baby just roll over? For that matter if the baby was suffocating like that it wouldn't be able to cry so anyone could hear it right? So it could have happened just with the couple in the other room while the baby was supposed to be sleeping...

The sad thing is that if they weren't going to jail, prolly for a long long time, that they'd prolly see this as a blessing in that they could play WoW even more since they'd no longer have a baby to worry about... Stupidity should be painful. :P

If they were in the house with a baby monitor they might of heard it struggling before it suffocated.
Stupidity is painful, just not to the stupid. Instead, it mostly hurts the people around them when they commit their acts of stupidity. Who usually suffers when an drunk idiot starts their car up? Here it was the baby who died because of these parents' stupidity? Fortunately, like drunk drivers, they'll find their home amongst the rest of the world's dumba$$ criminals in a state penitentiary.
They left a 4 month old infant home alone. That's plain old neglect, no matter what they were doing. It would have been just a tragic accident if it had happened the middle of the night and they were in the next room sleeping, but infants take a lot of care and can't be left alone for hours.
I've got a 7 week old infant sleeping on my lap right now. If I wanted to go out to have some fun, and I couldn't take her or find a babysitter, I'd just have to find something else to do at home. I find this sort of behavior baffling.

Dungeons & Dragons was an iffy game tho..
And its up to parents if they want to watch violent cartoons so ye, its the parents fault.
Headlines like this make me sick, because it shows the complete idiocy of the media and the general public. Every time something bad happens and it's remotely linked to video games, some slack-jawed moronic dumbarses start crying 'Video Games are evil! Ban them!'
Sorry if there's anyone reading this who supports that idea, but that's not bad videogames, that'd bad parenting. It's bad parents who thinks video games are to blame for their kids problems, and not their sorry ass parenting skills.
Not only that, but it's actually been proven that video games /can/ be helpful and beneficial to the people who play them. For example, pilots and doctors. Pilots spend plenty of time on simulators, which are, guess what, basically video games. It's a proven fact that lathroscopic surgeons (who work with non-invasive surgical equipment, very small and fine controlled tools) who play video games regularly, or even before an operation, perform far better.

I don't understand why they didn't think of taking their daughter to the mother-in-law RIGHT UPSTAIRS! I guess young couples are just like that. At least we know that they did love each other. I would have just taken the kid with me to the cafe.

Horribles parents? I disagree. Not responsible, yes, but horribles? No way.
Arresting them will have the effect that less peoples will want kids, why risk to be arrested if you are not 100% dedicated. Every parent should be 100% dedicated, but do you want to turn away all those who are not by arresting a few of them who basically ''did nothing'' when they should have been there? Some peoples live on clouds, and if they think parents will be more responsibles by arresting those who are not, you are dead wrong, they wont be parents and just do an abortion right away(since those peoples are more often then the average, not always, lazy as well on measures to not fall pregnants).
If the goal is to reduce child birth rate, go ahead, arrest them. If the goal is to have parents who behave more responsibly, arresting those 2 wont help at all.

Maybe they would have been good parents had their baby lived, but now we'll never know, will we? Basic fact is whether they may not have been 'horrible' parents and just irresponsible is irrelavent in this matter. What matters is that they failed their duties as parents. They never should have left their child alone to go play a computer game at a cyber cafe to begin with, not for four hours, not for one hour like they claim to have planned, not even for five f***ing minutes. As a result of their neglagince, their baby died, and I think some prison time for what happened is exactly what's due to them. It's not a matter of making parents more aware of their responsibilities, because that should be a given for any parent. Nor is it a matter of child birth rate.
You are right that we can't arrest every parent out there who are irresponsible at taking care of their kids. All we can do for that is hope that the kids make it through okay, and also hope that child welfare services gain a case to take those kids away and put them someplace better.

Its called arresting people becasue they commited a crime. You really think that arresting a murderer will stop murder? No, so you disagree with it??

Killed their daughter to play WOW :S
I could understand if it was eve or EQ
too bad the article blames the game when it is the parents who are stupid
death is just the beginning
Either you dont have children or you have your priorities sorted differently.
Want to ENJOY an mmo?
Dont start a guild and dont be a leader or volunteer to be coleader or captain.
Just play the damn game:)

I think you took his meaning the wrong way.
To me, the part that bothers me the most is this:
Like usual??? How many times have they neglected their poor child...
