The MASS EXODUS! Goodbye EVE!

xpowderxxpowderx Member UncommonPosts: 2,078

I see the MASS EXODUS is continuing. Many are leaving for that uhh. other game!

Tsk, tsk.. Monocles anyone?

I erased EVE from my hard Drive today. It wont be coming back.

CCP no longer cares about its player base, its true! Especially after the comments CCP made.

When you have a game that ignores its player base all for the $$$$. Its time to move on.. As such I did. Along with some friends.. Goon,BCINC, RF, .. yup.. we are all leaving.

Thanks CCP!

And it was only proven how good it is. Irrational, silly, childish reaction to game changes...good that CCP does not "listen" to them, now this immature crowd will move to Perpetuum...

I feel sorry for Avatar Creations... They will enjoy some new subs but it won't help the game to move much further, imo.

    Big Internet Robots I hear.

    (Perpetuum Online).

@OP: what do you mean, are all members from those alliances mass quitting?

  • mmoguy43mmoguy43 Member UncommonPosts: 2,770

    Fun with hearsay!

...atleast Perp gets something out of this. Always have to look on the positive side.

Some may stay, but the corps will no longer be. Yes the majority of those players have already moved or are moving to that other game this week.

Almost 5,000 subs dropped this past weekend. Including mine.

would be lovely if anyone could share some REAL infos about the prob to an outsider.

eve online now has a store where you can buy clothers and accesoires for your avatar, that's what i got. but how could this be a problem? ^^

Thane, many players in EVE have played a long time. Throughout that time we the players ran the economy, the alliances, wars.. virtually many aspects of the game. With the store coming out they killed that. Its not just vanity items they plan on selling. But useful items and skills ect. The game is no longer a player ran game but soon a item shop game.

Also, dont think Sony doesnt have a play in this. There is a reason DUST514 is PS3 only. As far as Sony goes, all one has to do is talk to a old Star Wars Galaxies Vet. Anything Sony touches goes to dooky after a bit.

This is the best way to show a mmo dev you disaggre with a choice, Whining on forums won't help they won't listen, however "The money is always right", so talk with your wallet insted.

Not that Eve is a good game anyway, its mostly a spreadsheet program from what I seen. Was extremly boring as well quit within a few days myself, never went back, I just don't see what people find so intersting or fun about it.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

    A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

    or

    B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

I think its about time that gamers finally made developers stand up and take notice when it comes to overzealous MT pricing, reading those leaked emails/internal blogs really gave you the impression CCP had every intention of forcing EVE into a Pay to Win with subscription game.

The dismal showing of Cryptic's 2 games (C-Store) should have been an obvious example for CCP to have seen where there folly was leading them, but the outright hubris of CCP's upper management is very apparent.

Anyhow, those who left EVE, i really feel for you, its not easy to be apart of something for so long, to put so much effort and time into a virtual world like EVE, only to have to make the choice to move on.

Regardless, Perpetuum Online looks like a very good choice, heh i would have said try Xsyon, but that game is an unmitigated disaster and would crumble even more from the increased server loads.

It makes me wonder if they will condemn the leaker of the info or thank him. Because they may be able to rectify the situation now but if they dropped the MT bomb with no warning it could be much worse.

After that letter was leaked saying CCP doesn't care what its players say, only what they do unsubbing is essentially the only way to let CCP know you're unhappy.

  • xpowderxxpowderx Member UncommonPosts: 2,078

In case you do not believe that Goon has departed. Here is a wiki source. Goon are now FOOM .. Just go up a letter with the F and up a letter with the M. They even have a wiki which you can find here http://foom.electric-mayhem.org/wiki/home

Figuere, its in Goon style and taste :-D

Yes, I have and nothing changed. The scamming, the conniving and the backstabbing are still very much alive and well. Also to be honest if the Goons are leaving, then you've just made my day. image

Goons are leaving? I'll resub to Eve for a year if that's true.

As a 2004 player I can say the game was way better before they joined.  Good Riddance!

Perpetuum, really?  Is there a sizable wave of ex-EVE players making the move, based on the topic here, to Perpetuum Online?

Something doesn't sound right about that.

So some Eve players are making some noise about quiting.  We don't have any numbers to show if it's a drip or a bleed.

The population seems triple within last few days(220 user peak to +600).

The numbers are inaccurate for many reasons though and it will need some time to settle down.

yes, the biggest corp there boasts over 200 players. With a bit of sarcasm added to the corps name. The corp is called NEX :-D

Disclaimer - I no longer play EvE, and was never a fanboy in any sense of the word....

I really doubt that EvE/CCP will be severely hindered by any of this nonsense.  Somebody earlier in the thread noted that 5k people have left?  Well first, I wonder where that number actually comes from, but second, that's barely a blip on their radar... ~ 1-2% of their total player base?  Heck even if they lose 20% of their player base, all they need to do is offset that with 20% added revenue from micro-transactions.

As for big corps leaving - so what?  When one big corp moves out, it just gives new corps an opportunity to take their place.  And as many have already noted in this thread, the departure of these corps can be seen as a positive, not a negative, to many.
