Is nobody surprised at that 'it'll likely be released within 12-24 months' statement that was made?
Or does everyone automatically assume that this is just marketing speech and that there's no way that the game will be released within that time period?
It's a Blizzard title, and I'm pretty sure whatever they're building isn't really what I'm looking for so only watching Titan's development with passing interest.
And I never believe dates like that, heck, I'm still skeptical about SWTOR releasing this year.

90% casual, 10% hardcore is probably how it will be, or maybe 95% casual.
As several people already said it is where the money is and Blizzard will need this game to take over after Wow, making it for hardcore fans in that case would be stupid.
But I don't think any Blizzard fans expect a hardcore game, it is not really their style.
All I think "casual" means in this case is that the game will be more action, less rpg. Since supposedly the rumor is that the game will be a sci fi shooter Im not really botherd by some analysts claiming it will be "casual".
With slightly more investment(something I am sure Blizzard can afford) they could make two rulesets, one Hardcore and one Sofr(causal), running on different servers, not rocket science and not that expensive.
Social gaming is on the up and up. I've alway thought (and still do think) that is the new pie Blizzard will be digging their fingers into. So...World of Farmville. Would not be surprised in the least.
I agree with this. I'm 100% certain that it has something to do with facebook games, or at least with the intrusive messaging system fb runs on. The amounts of money these games generate is insane, and I bet Blizzard is already drooling.

You must really hate Blizzard to think they would make something like World of Farmville. When have they ever made a game they didnt want to or that stood out from their overall style?

Did I say World of Farmville? I was mostly referring to the messaging system fb incorporates. Why do you think Farmville is so successful? Is it because it's a great game? Well, maybe for some, but the main reason is because the game appears on everyones wall, every time a friend buys a new chicken. It's called spam.. and it works. With another benefit - your friend is playing it! Come and join so we can have even more fun!
Now I'm not saying Blizzard is making some lame facebook game. I'm just saying it will use the same system to advertise "Titan".

When I first heared this, I was very dissapointed (but not surprised).
I was hoping Blizzard would create a product to cater for the seamless world, player housing, no restrictions croud. They already have a casual MMORPG....
Oh well.

Not surprised at all. About 3 years ago it was leaked that blizz was working on some secret project. Of course blizzard denied it . The time frame would be about right.

When will you people realize that the term "Casual" just like the term "Grind"
are both Subjective. They can mean anything the user of the term wants it to mean.
Look at WoW. People call WoW Casual, yet most people cant even do HC mode endgame, and complain about Normal Mode, being easy. smh

Doesn't the (supposedly) leaked Blizzard release timeline have Titan out in 2014? I'd have to track it down again...
Part of Blizzard's continuing theme of producing casual games that hardcore players can appreciate due to their depth. (Well I guess SC2 was a slight aberration to that formula, trending more hardcore than their norm.)
They'll achieve great success and likely produce something impressively fun.
"Minutes to learn; lifetime to master" is not really a statement the hardest-core players understand, despite having always been the definition of great game design. Hardcore players tend to be "Make it more complex" which is actually the worst thing you can do to a game's design if every bit of complexity doesn't fully justify its existence.
"What is truly revealing is his implication that believing something to be true is the same as it being true. [continue]" -John Oliver
Thing is folks, you see the word casual and instantly think 'shit' and I don't blame you. HOWEVER, however, however.. Remember, we're talking about a company who did once make THE BEST MMORPG ever (WoW Vanilla), THE BEST action RPG ever (Diablo 1, 2), One of if not THE BEST RTS game ever (I personally think it goes CnC1, RA2, RA1 then Starcraft, then SC2, but each to their own).
We can all tell they're just experimenting with different things in WoW cause they're most likely thinking the majority of players will be switching to Titan.
But I wouldn't think Blizzard would be switching their business plan to shit games completely. Yeah WoW is really bad now, but it's probably still in the top 10 MMORPGs currently, and that is not bad at all considering just how bad a game it has become, but it does still beat many MMOs in controls, amount of content (when leveling up at least), graphics, playerbase etc. etc.
I'm REALLY hoping they will take the good things from WoW, and ditch the countless bad things about the game, and morph it into Titan, BUT at the same time, making the game BOTH casual AND hardcore. I personally think it can be done... don't ask me how.. but I think someone will eventually come up with an awesome idea and bam! - best MMO ever.
Obviously it all depends if it's going to be an RPG, or FPS or hell, I wouldn't be suprised if it was more of an RTS. Obviously the casual/hardcore thing really only applies to RPG, if it does turn out to be FPS then it's pretty impossible to make either a casual or hardcore FPS cause most FPSs are just based on how good the player is (CoD excluded though, but you do need some skill at least, minimal though).
In terms of what sort of game it might be - well we have Bungie who made a sci-fi shooter, and Blizzard that made a sci-fi rts. So we're all pretty set on it going to be some sort of sci-fi game. Possibly somehow mixing rts and fps? Remember, EVE and Dust will be fps and sort of rts/rpg like. So maybe they got the idea from that, and they release the FPS game on consoles and the RTS/RPG on the PC and there are huge wars and everyone has to work together and fight huge battles and capture player made cities and stuff, but also keep it casual, so it's really fun for the hardcore guys that want to just level up and capture cities and do raids and make their own cities, and for the casuals they can just go on the FPS version and help their clan and play some RTS battles on PC version.
I think my idea would be an awesome idea cause now with the troubles with CCP looks like the whole EVE and Dust thing is going to not turn out to well, Blizzard and Bungie could easily grab that ball and run like the wind with it with the budget they have.
But let's all at least see, cause it's could be good, or it may be shit.. unfortunately it will probably be the latter
Blizzard used to be a great company... but not anymore. It feels like all their talented devs left, and now they're just doing rehashes of old games. Titan will be another money-grabbing title that's not interesting in any way.
The Blizz that created D1, D2, and WoW vanilla is gone. It has been replaced by a corporation called Activision Blizzard. It is no longer a gaming company that is first class and also makes a fortune. It is a shareholder conscious income producing asset. No more and no less. Sad but true.
We can all tell they're just experimenting with different things in WoW cause they're most likely thinking the majority of players will be switching to Titan.
Actually I think that's a stretch.
The majority of War3 players didn't switch to WOW.
My impression has been that Titan will attract a substantially different group of gamers than WOW did, due to the gameplay being substantially different. That's the sense I get after reading some of the hints dropped by Blizzard, as well as talking with my friends who work there.

If by casual, they mean no end game gear grind, then count me in.
With ActiVision in charge I'm willing to bet it's going to be showered in cash shops ontop of a sub fee.
Right after the activision merger is when WoW turned into a sea of cashgrabs.
Starcraft not hardcore ?

I doubt it will be anything close to WoW, creating a game that would be in direct competition to their own no.1 hit-product sounds terribad idea.
So it will be some casual Facebook game that works great through your iphone etc., in other words I couldn't be less interested.

What's the use of continuing developing the game, it's like we've already played it before and finished the "end game content".
