Have anyone heard if they change this,i just hope its some procaution vs the gold sellers, but any rumor is nice.thx

They have to have incentive for people to pay. If they give EVERYTHING for free, then it ends up making them lose money. No game that used to be P2P that goes F2P is truely F2P. I mean that is a very low cap. But honestly, oh well. Who cares. Move on if you aren't ever going to pay.
hmm i have a tier 2 geared ranger on aoc..i was gonna stop by to try the ftp..i will skip that now thanx for the heads up.
why is it when you are gonna play a game you dont read the FAQ,surely if you gonna play a game you read up on it first.
Like all other game companies and their f2p titles just doing quite fine now, with not silly restrictions.
You're fault since honestly there really isn't a F2P game that is truely free they all have some kind of restriction.
Guild Wars 2

Philosophy of MMO Game Design
Name a couple that don't have those. EQ2X has the chat restrictions, a gold cap, an item cap. LOTRO has area caps, gold caps.
Well duh i dont expect trully free to play jeez, only normal f2p model like all games.
Well pretty sure you can pay monthly and unlock I don't know because I don't play those kind of games anymore.
I know other P2P games that went F2P also had some kind of restriction like this and you could buy something to remove cap.
I dont know why this is a surprise. There is always money restrictions with F2P. For example, Lotro has a 2 gold cap. However, in this case I havent found info on the money cap in the restrictions section, which is another place most people forget to look before posting. Here. http://www.ageofconan.com/playfree
Remember, Free too Play doesnt mean you get everything you want for free. It simply means, play as long as possible without a time cap and trial level cap for free and without the monthly sub.
People see "free" and perform an epic fail reading or understanding the offer.
The official answer was that it was to discourage gold sellers. They'll just sub and sell that way, while they're at it no doubt start adding full sets of culture gear etc to their gold site stores seeing as people can't buy anything with ingame money.
Having a limit is fine, but their 2G limit is on the ridiculously low side especially considering the other restrictions. You really can't get anything decent for that and with AA's not being available to the F2P crowd it widens the gap considerably.
Honestly then you don't understand the free to play route then. Game is really not free to play, its called a freemium. You want to unlock stuff then you pay, they just give you access hoping you will pay to unlock the rest.
Just like most other free to play games, like lotro, dnd and so forth.
When are you folks going to realize that when they say free to play its only free to log in. There is always going to be some sort of catch 22.
Does a company have to make money? Of course.
Is it deceptive to advertise a product as free, but then demand payment if anyone wants to actually really use the product? Yes, I think so.
I think it's kind of funny that we're all so conditioned to deceptive business practices that we call someone who complains about them an idiot.
I don't expect any game to be actually "free" to play, but I would appreciate some honesty in the advertising. Like "level 1-20 are free to play!" Instead of just calling the game F2P in general.
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
For the curious, 2 gold isn't really the same in AoC as it is in other games.
The majority of players will probably make it well past level 20 before they even get a single gold.
This is because AoC breaks currency down a bit differently. The traditional role of 'copper' is replaced by the currency of 'tin'. Each other currency is shifted to the left. ('copper' in this game is equivalent to 'silver' in other games such as WoW, this game's 'silver is equivalent to 'gold' in wow, this game's gold is equivalent to 100 gold, ect)
Really, if you want to compare the limit to other games, the limit of AoC is realistically 200 gold (in WoW terms)

Not personally a big fan of raiding or current pve endgame mmo philosophy. Nothing wrong with it, I just sort of burnt out on it.
Hardcore raider in wow from Launch to.. about 7 months ago.

But you're able to level to level cap, enjoy all the areas AND the questing content up to level cap, together with half of the dungeons, not only just "level 1-20 are free to play". All that is available with you not needing to pay a single dime for it.
Basically, you get 80-90% of the game without the expansion, you get even a Khitai area of the RotGS expansion, the L20-40 content, when you're F2P.
It's foolish to be indignant that the whole game requires nothing to be paid for, especially if it was P2P before and they announced a hybrid model, the only question is, do you find the things that you don't have to pay for good enough and enjoyable enough and do you find the things that you do have to pay for acceptable enough.
That's the only question anyone needs to ask themselves, regarding any kind of game. If the answer is 'no' to either part of that question, then it's a simple matter of moving on to a game that answers that question personally more agreeable.

I wouldnt worry much about the gold cap for now. Your not going to make much money from questing anyway. Basicly only way to make money at lower levels is to farm tin or rough leather to sell. By 40 your lucky if you have 1g for the horse.
First in the 70's will you be making enough money to break the 2g cap from quests, as you then start to get 5s+'ish each quest. My suggestion is that you invest the money in rares such as tin or platinum. Platinum rarly changes much in price, one stack of platinum is 80-100g.
The economy in the game is crap, and crafting has not been updated for 2 years+. Most world drop blues sell for 5-10s at most. In some level ranges like early 50's you'll only get 1-2s each.
The only problem I can see is if you should get a recipe that is worth 10-30g that you would like to sell and buy armor for. Best bet would be to have a premium friend sell it and have him buy the culture/city armor you need.
GW2s main income will be box sales. AoCs is item shop and the people who decide to subscribe.
So yes, they need you to pay in a way GW 1 & 2 don't need.
ANET is cointing with 50 Euro/ 60 dollar for each box., times maybe 5 million (GW1 have 3,5 million spearate accounts) + the income from expansions. Then it also sell some fluff stuff.
AoC did have about 1,5 million sold boxes at varying prices and 3 years of monthly fees for about 125K players. They need a reason so they can keep most of those monthlt fees while getting some RMT sales as well, or they will loose money on the deal.
All that said, 2 gold is just too little. 25 would be OK.
The difference I see is that AoC does not allow any way to permanently unlock large portions of their content with a one time purchase. Both LotRO and DDO (which seem to be the most successful freemium games) do this.
Example, I dont like the gold cap in lotro I spend the turbine points to permanently remove this restriction. AoC does not have this option, its solution is... Sub.
Example, I purchased xpacs for lotro prior to f2p they are available for me to enjoy now that my account is f2p (only that which was there at xpac launch, anything new has to be purchased). AoC I purchased the Godslayer xpac and enjoyed it at launch. Now AoC f2p is here and the content I paid for is locked, not only locked but it does not have the option to be permanently unlocked with a one time purchase. So if I want to play the content I already purchased, I have to pay for 3/7 day passes or... Sub.
Bottom line is that Funcom, wants you to sub. So badly in fact that they make their own f2p difficult to swallow, at least for returning customers in my opinion. Maybe I am in the minority here, but I love purchasing content 1 time and having it available, and not feeling obligated to immediately log in and quest/dungeon run/grind to get the most for my 3/7 day pass. Besides with the cost of a 3/7 day pass, you might as well sub... which is obviously what FC wants. I mean why else would it negate most of the content in their item store... right... Bueller... Bueller.
Current: BDO
Looking forward to: Crowfall & Chronicles of Elyria
Maybe it's best to illustrate the ingame gold value with an example:
in AoC, it costs 1 gold to learn the riding skill and buy a mount, iirc it has cost 1-1.5 gold in total for a mount since its launch.
What does it cost in WoW to obtain a mount and the necessary riding skill? 20 gold? 40? And how much was it at WoW's launch?
Gold and silver in AoC have a lot more value than gold and silver in MMO's like WoW.
That may be so, but AoC also provides you with a far larger initial amount of content than LotrO (or DDO). In AoC Unchained you have practically access to as good as all the (leveling & questing) content of the basic pre-expansion game before you spent a single penny, with LotrO you have to pay or endlessly grind your way to unlock all the area content past the starter regions. Your Turbine Points that you build up in those initial gameplay is only good for a few zones.

Actually... No... DDO, LoTRO, AoC, AO and EQ2 aren't "just like most other free to play games". Most other F2P MMOs - as in the traditional true F2P/Cash Shop MMOs - are not set up the same as those games.
You can not optionally sub to "Eastern Style" F2P/Cash Shop MMOs. You can not buy quest or content packages in an "a la carte" manner in traditional F2P/Cash Shop MMOs.
The "freemium" or "hybrid" setup MMOs are not the same as true F2P/Cash Shop MMOs. Their means of income are different, the game designs are differently adjusted and, hence, the restrictions and limitations are different.
The two are not the same.
I swear, most of the confusion on this issue comes straight out of people seeing them all as being part of some "one size fits all" scenario. They are not.
It's like saying Coke, Pepsi and RC cola are all exactly the same 'cause they're all Cola, when the fact is each is made with its own variation on the recipe and have their own distinct taste.
It's like how people keep confusing any game nowadays that has even limited multiplayer capabilities (16 on the same map, etc) as being Massively Multiplayer, or referring to Diablo II as a MMORPG... even when Blizzard themself doesn't categorize it as one (because it isn't).
As long as people continue to just lump everything together into one box and call it "F2P", the differences are going to be overlooked and folks are going to continue confusing one with the other as they argue in circles about it.

Putting it in perspective really helps. Thanks.
He who keeps his cool best wins.
I am a long time subber with a 61 Barbarian I am leveling up and I have just recently broken the 2 gold barrier. I have a mount and really everything I need to get to endgame. You really do not need a ton of gold to play the game and keep yourself equipped. Money is tight in AoC, if my slow AH sales are any indication, lol!
"The Pen Is Mightier Than The Demo"
Hmm with 2GP cap I guess of the more expensive items you can buy a basic mount but that is about it.
As a Free Player can you make a guild ? if you can see if you can make a guild & drop extra coin in the guild bank & save up your money that way. If you cannot make your own guild ask someone to make a guild, invite you to it and then hand over control to you (offer 30-50 silver maybe). then you will have a guild bank and should be able to accumulate gold by transferring from your pack to the guild bank.
Once you have saved however much gold you need to buy what you want for all your characters you can always sub for one month transfer gold around to your characters through mail and get mounts & whatnot, maybe roll one of the restricted classes as a character too and once your free month is done go back to "free".
If you go from premium to freemium you can bring two of your old characters to freemium what ewer class they are. The class restriction is for enrollment of new classes after going freemium.
Given that you will not break the 2G anywhere near half level cap, that should suit you. You can still buy the game if you feel the need to. Till then AoC is one of the most shiny f2p games around now.
