At this point neither version. The more info coming out the more generic the game seems, despite the hype.

I've bought two collectors editions in my life: COV and WOW: WRATH

COV was better value and it was still a waste of money. So to answer your question, Regular :P

    I lol'd.

And I'll probably buy the regular edition unless there is something really awesome in the ce.

I'll have to wait and see what comes in the CE, but I'm already thinking about getting it. I've never gotten a CE before, but there's a first time for everything.

Im just going to say that i dont care what the CE has in it, im buying it anyway... hell if they came out with a limited collecters edition that costs 150$ i would buy it.. simply because i love the original guild wars, and i have never been so exited about a mmo since i started playing one.. which was 10 years ago.

Arenanet is putting their heart and soul into guild wars 2.. and if anything thing they deserve the extra cash for how much enjoyment they have already given me, and will continue 2.

    Hands down.. CE FTW!!

I don't know which version. It depends on what's available 6 months after it goes live. I will never again buy a game at launch.

For me the CE will have to include:

    1.  A unique case worthy of display for the extra space it will end up taking up.

    2.  At least one in-game item that has no effect on my character status, again for display such as a companion pet or title.

    3.  An artbook and soundtrack.

    4.  The first 3 are standard stuff, it also needs useful items which I consider worth the cost of the additional price of the CE compared to the normal version.  Useful items include:

    a.  Pen Drives

    b.  Apparel - T-shirts, bags, etc.

    c.  Books/Comics related to the game.

    d.  DVDs related to the game - could include special movies or developer featured talk about the game.

    e.  Anything creative related to the game.  It should either serve a practical purpose or be really good for display.

Two things I don't find useful:

Strategy Guides, please don't include these in Collector's Editions to inflate the price.  DVD guides are okay (like Blazblue's Preorder Bonus that included voiced gameplay guides from top players of each character).

In game items that give an advantage to CE users, but typically are stowed away after using them.  For example Age of Conan's CE came with a ring that boosted EXP for the first 50 or so levels.  FFXIV came with an Onion Helm that only lasted a few levels too.  Why give me an item I can only display proudly for X amount of time?  Why give CE users any advantage at all?  I want to be on fair ground with any normal edition users.

GOTY edition, or the Trilogy edition where it includes all the expansions.

I'd consider a CE, if it would include a Charr plushie. 'Nuff said.

Agreed, sir. I might buy the CE regardless, though.

I will get the SE. But I would buy the CE if they include additional character customizations such as more hair options, tattoos, etc.  I don't like in-game items or figurines though.

I'll buy the CE if it includes something in-game (functional, or aesthetic) but I don't care for the actual collector's items (figurines, cloth maps, etc). If the CE grants earlier beta access, I'm sold as well.

Likewise, and this wouldn't be the first time they've done something like that, either. I recall the legendary charr plush toys they offered to the top 100 (or was it 10?) beta testers of one of the original Guild Wars campaigns. That was talked about so much and occasionally still is.

Bonus points to them if it's a Rytlock one.

I will buy the CE, mostly to support the B2P model, and maybe for the rather nice artbook ANET always include. :)

CEs are usually a waste of money but I buy one at times to support he company making the game.

ANET also have included a poster in earlier CEs, and a huge poster of destinys edge would be nice on my wall as well.

Not likely, I never seen any MMO have something like that.

Warhammer Online some had some kind of masks or facial feature, racespecific. Thats as close as I can think of.

Standard edition for me... unless there's a digital CE with the soundtrack.  That I might be talked into.

Blast you, I hadn't considered that angle. :| I'll probably end up buying the CE now too just to offer my support, since I really want Guild Wars 2 to succeed, and probably the more people that buy the CE, the better it looks for ArenaNet on their financial reports. Plus, I certainly wouldn't turn down a poster of Destiny's Edge. Though I'd prefer one of them walking a la the Races of Tyria video rather than the cover of the book, which was meh by comparison. (The characters didn't look quite right, there, not the best asura or charr rendering I've ever seen their artists do.)

I'll stop rambling now. But yeah, htat's a good point and I really hadn't considered that angle.

Collector's Edition for me...especially if it comes with an extra character slot & early access to the game.

I'm glad more people are going to support Arenanet with the CE. :D
